Changed formula has produced catastrophic effects – My Labradors gastrointestinal sensitivity has been sucessfully managed for 3 years using the i/d dry food. The recent order of this product came in new packaging and I have been informed that the formula has changed. Two days after eating this product my Labrador was in hospital with blood stained diarrhoea. After consulting three different… Read more
veterinarians, one being at a specialist hospital, the conclusion is that the i/d food was likely the cause.
Dog loves ID tins – My dog loves the tin food, my issue is that it sometimes comes to you in dented tins, and the tins are often not full, big gap at times, otherwise great product, my dog needs low fat due to diabetes and prone to pancreatitis Show details
Great results after many other foods – We’ve tried everything. And I mean everything with my pup. She had parvo as a puppy so her gut is scarred and permanently damaged. She loves raw. But it doesn’t agree with her. Grain free foods go right through her. Royal canin didn’t like her. So we’ve tried every other brand under the sun. Finally I thought I’d try I/d. And wow. With in 24 hours she had solid stools!! Show details
Ingredient change – Disappointed that the dog I was fostering came down ill after being prescribed this brand after 3 Stomach surgeries. A brand that is now hard to trust given the latest recall of their products. Especially considering the price. Show details
Ingredients changed with bulking agent - beware! – Hills have changed formulation of Hills i/d canned food (March 2017). Different packaging (used to say Gastrointestinal, now says Digestive Care) but I noticed different texture (coarser) and strong smell. Vets said it was just label change & advised I call Hills to query. Hills confirmed they have added bulking agents (I think they said beets… Read more
and something else). Dog is now having severely bloated abdomen and diarhea. Why on earth a company would change ingredients of a product that is for sickly dogs is a mystery, when it is obvious it could potentially cause a reaction in animals that have been placed on this food because of sensitivity! It is clearly a cost issue, but why on earth don't they just increase the price and avoid adding these cheap bulking agents? I do not recommend this company, they trade on sponsorship through vets so any veterinary recommendations for their products are not solely based on the benefit to your pet but on the financial benefits to vets. Have read a lot of bad reviews on the internet about Hills, and both the vets and the local pet food store confirmed that Hills are notorious for changing the formulas of their foods without notice or advising anyone. Avoid if you can.
Has not helped at all – My small dog has had years of digestive problems. Had him on Hills digestive care then the I/d low fat biscuits. He had more bad days than good; vomiting, very runny stools. Light bulb moment looking at the ingredients, lots of grains and wheat, not much protein. So bought a Purina grain free biscuit to start with from the supermarket and… Read more
immediately saw an improvement. Have now changed to Stay Loyal Grain free, available only online, no postage. The price is comparable to Hills, but the ingredients are high quality. 38% protein, no grains, good fats, veggies etc. Do your dog a favour, the first ingredient in the list should always be meat. Sadly this is not the case with the Hills digestive care. Since eliminating grains, my dog is a changed dog. Never misses a meal. No more vomiting or sloppy stools. Actually he now has a bit of "spark". Best thing I did was take him off these biscuits.
