I tried to get a quote for a repair. I wasted my time talking to a bot. The bot told me that someone would contact me soon. Nobody contacted me. It was holiday season, and I do not know if the office was staffed. However, all the impressions I received was that someone was available and ready to call me back. It was a complete waste of time.

Paul Wakeling Holden service centre at Campbelltown are great value for service and friendliness. We recently went to them for an oil top up and without an appointment they did add oil. We highly recommend them for any service. We have been using them since 2016 to service our Holden SV6. Thank you Jon. Mario and Danielle.

Had our car (Holden Barina TK 2007 1.6l auto 4 door sedan) taken to Holden Service Centre in Frankston as the fault code P0203 was showing with engine light on. We were told they would have to do their own scan costing $197.. only to be told yes it… Read more

is showing the same fault code P0203 I understood that.

First up they said it needed a new ECU and programming to that car costing $1600.

Now we previously had a new ECU replaced and programmed (by them) in this car in 2023, costing $1500. We were then told that it was 5 months out of warranty! (2 years warranty on a genuine Holden ECU, which I believe should last the life of the car other than some very rare circumstance). So we gave the go ahead on yet another ECU. Next call was telling us we needed new fuel injectors costing $700. $175 each plus labour and for some reason they replaced the spark plugs without any notification. So short story, the total cost was $3119!

On picking up the car I started it and it sounded strange so I opened the bonnet and it was rattling and ticking away like an old diesel tractor (I have video footage of this). So we left the car again but was told quite rudely we would be paying for another scan and assessment. After all the work they had done and apparently test driven it and invoice said all ok…and now on our pickup we were now told besides the oil light coming on intermittently the car needs a replacement engine!

I asked the question why their mechanic would for one, not notice this noise when he was working on the car and two, why nobody never noticed it on test driving the car as it was very, very noticeable.

All this is on my invoices. We are so unsatisfied yet again. For all the labour they did, for all the parts they replaced and then the very next day we were told that the car needed another engine. All this from a Genuine Holden Service Centre.

Follow-up  · Now… The car is in our carport, hasn’t moved or been started since the day it was picked up, it’s got cobwebs on it, I have the battery on a trickle charger but I’m unsure why I’m bothering as I don’t want to start it without knowing if the oil pump is working or not and maybe damage the engine. The first ECU…. The engine would turn over but… Read more

Holden rip off – I've had my car camera changed 3 times . Only got the third camera installed recently 21.11.2022. Head office would not support my claims . Believed Liverpool Holden report full of lies charged me for a new camera. I should have had warranty but no one could supply it therefore I strongly believe I was ripped off . They never changed it just charged me for it . I will supply all my supporting documents to Department of Fairtrading Show details

Broken Air box – Beecham Holden - Caboolture I had my Holden Colorado serviced on the 26 Sep 24 and at 1204 hours I was contacted by the Service Department recommending that I replace: Wipers Pollen Filter and the Air Box. At the time I declined the offer as I thought it was a bit strange as I have 3 Colorados over the years and had never had to replace an Air… Read more

Box. On the 3 Oct 24 I thought I would inspect the Air Box to see what the go was, only to see that it had a broken bracket(Fresh break), obviously done when the filter was changed. I sent 2 emails to the Dealership with no response, so I attended their Service department on 18 Oct 24, and spoke to the girls at the Service Department desk. I was informed that the air filter was replaced and that is when it was noticed that it was broken. I replied that it was a fresh break as could be seen by the photos I emailed them. I asked if they had received my email, which they replied "No". They then went and checked previous service details of my vehicle and stated that the last scheduled air filter change was for the 3 year service which was done by another dealership, trying to imply that must have been when it was broken. I disputed this fact as their dealership did the service after that one and it should have been picked up then. They even tried to say that the air filter is not checked on each individual service, it was not until I went to my car and retrieved the last service details - where it stated that the "air filter element was inspected" by their mechanic. I was told from another employee that he would to the Manager himself about my situation.I am still yet to hear back.

5 stars for Jon WOLF at Steinborner Holden, Gawler SA – 5 stars for Jon WOLF at Steinborner Holden, Gawler SA. Excessive Car Parts Pricing – My nine-year-old Holden Trax LS 1.8 six speed Auto (purchased new in 2014) commenced running rough and shuddered on a small upward climb on a suburban street. One dealership wanted my vehicle all day and an advance payment of $150 to establish the problem. A RACQ technician diagnosed the problem as a faulty PCV (positive crankcase ventilation)… Read more

valve.

Inquiries to purchase a PCV revealed their availability for most vehicles in USA but they are NOT sold in Australia.

The General Motors designed Trax was made in Korea. The PCV was inbuilt into the valve rocker cover.

Inquiries from one Holden Dealerships advised the cost of A GENUINE GM PART was $745.86 plus GST c $67.80 – Total $813.66 + LABOUR and $782 from the second dealer ( no doubt + GST and Labour)

Internet inquiries revealed “Parts Factory” located on the Queensland Gold Coast sold an after market identical product for $118.30 Including GST and Free delivery.

Wilkies Auto Centre on Bribie Island fitted the part in under 30 minutes.

I cannot find any difference in the original part removed and the after market part fitted apart from some numbers stamped into both products and therefore cannot justify an excess of $627 [$745 - $118 = $627]

A copy of this report was sent to the ACCC today, 22 March, 2023.

Do Not Take Your Vehicle To Holden For Service And Repairs – Nonstop issues with the vehicle since point of purchase 2018 (NOTE: this is the 2nd Barina I have owned and it was a replacement of the first lemon). * Warranty issues repeatedly refused to be repaired under warranty, had to argue every single issue with both vehicles before they were accepted, seems standard for Holden to just blanket refuse… Read more

everything in hope that you won’t dispute, ultimately saving them money. * Refusal to repair items that are well documented known issues/faults, some of which were already previously repaired under warranty, citing there was no warranty on the vehicle for years (because they didn’t actually even look). * Multiple prices quoted for repairs and parts by different team members, sometimes quoting in excess of $1000, then dropping to $200 when pressed on why and for what and in several cases to be shown of provided with the removed part, especially considering previous warranty issues and reports. * Refusal to provide copies of Warranty documents since point of purchase, despite warranty and extended warranty being part of the vehicle purchase from Holden Footscray. * Refusal to provide a full copy of service and repair history since first requested over a year ago and then after MULTIPLE requests via email over the last 6 months too direct staff and generic service email. * 2 PAID repairs for leaking coolant issue when the coolant is STILL LEAKING and was immediately after BOTH “REPAIRS” (it never stopped and is apparently a known issue according to multiple people I’ve been in contact with). * CONSTANT reporting of known issue with transmission including but not limited to; gears holding/not changing, vehicle revving, shuddering, issues with coil packs where it’s like the car is going to stall and significant vibrating dismissed (citing could not replicate but without test driving) and on several occasions not even test driven as they advised they had, as KM on vehicle had only changed to the next KM when collected (photographed). ISSUES STILL PRESENT! * Not including all reported issues in the service/document and just ignoring me when I asked for them to be added/amended, acting like I’m being a pain and THIS IS EXACTLY WHY YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THEY DOCUMENT ALL ISSUES AND PROPERLY! * Patronised and spoken down to by male staff like I’m an incompetent and don’t have a clue about the lemon of a vehicle I purchased, what issues were repaired under warranty and what known issues are! *Written confirmation regarding items reported in warranty not accepted, citing “we don’t have to repair things just because they’re reported in warranty” but isn’t that the purpose of a parts and labour WARRANTY????? It’s not called “Whatever Holden agrees to fix to placate you and make you go away warranty”. * Reimbursement for vehicle hire not accepted, despite the fact that I have a disability, am unable to walk and Holden said I could not drive the vehicle because of a known fault with the mount that was reported under warranty previously and not repaired. Was I meant to just roll around on the floor for 4 days whilst I waited because you said I couldn’t drive? * Repeated refusal by Holden Customer Service to respond to each item with reasoning, citing a blanket no for all issues (not even aware of one of them that they were responding to and without having information/history)…. Good job there David. * Refusal to be provided with customer service phone recordings or to put me in contact with legal team or IT department to obtain them, then telling me I can’t use my own recordings (despite right to privacy being waived when they advise they’re recording). * Asked for postal details of where to serve VCAT documentation and would only advise an email, despite an address being required for the service by registered post. I have been dealing with this non-stop since my first holden 1er4xw and its been never ending, now im I have to take this to vcat and its going to waste hours and hours of everyone's time to do applications, summaries or proof, attendance etc. Thank god there are no more Holdens but maybe consider taking your vehicle elsewhere to get serviced!

I booked my car in for a repair to a leaking cooling system. I picked my car back up at their call and was charged $180 thinking not so bad then, but no, that charge was just to find out the problem and I had to rebook the car back in for the actual repairs at $715 more ..... what an absolute barefaced rip off, and I do not care for any of their "explanation or justification" .... my work goes elsewhere from now on.....

shade of white to the rest of the car. I was more annoyed at myself than anything for not noticing. When I pointed this out to the sales guy his manager said "too bad, thats the way it was traded" oh, so you did know about it? There was no offer of help or "we know a good painter" just see you later. I have had some bad experiences with their workshop in the past, EG they broke my usb/charge lead and flatly denied it, replaced an entire head unit to fix an Android auto connection issue when it was a broken wire, just to name 2. I have to wonder how they can do a 100 point safety inspection and the tyre pressures ranged from 33 to 37 psi. At least they changed the oil though. Unfortunately it looks like I will be going back to Gardners as the tint they fitted has tiny air bubbles everywhere, I'll give it a few weeks to settle but don't like my chances

Poor service since Holden left Australia ! – Called the moss vale group to check my car in for a safety recall on my Holden ! Couldn’t get me in for 2 months ! Can’t be too much of a safety issue ! Bloody ridiculous that a safety issue isn’t a priority for them! In addition so hard to get parts

Overpriced service – South Morang Holden quoted me 'about $40' to replace ONE brake-light globe in the 2017 Astra I bought from them in 2023. To ensure warranty, I took it them only to be charged $57.70!! $32 labour (for a 5 min job) and $20.45 for ONE globe (RRP $16.60 in a pkt of 2). After 3 emails requesting an explanation I finally received a phone-call saying they 'stood by their charge.' Next time I'll use my local mechanic. Show details

Appalling service and customer care – 11/04/2022. My car would not start from my garage and called RACV Road assists. quotation of over a thousand and I said go ahead. 4 days later, they apparently found that all injectors needed replacing and will costs nearly $6000.00. I was in shock to find that I don't have issue with the car until that morning and also made a booking for service in a couple of weeks for normal service before the issue. Also, there's no indication that something of that magnitude will happen overnight, especially inside my garage. 4 weeks later, I got told the car is ready. Come over pay the bill and pick up the car. When I start the car in their premises, 'fuel light comes on' meaning, a warning that fuel will soon needed. Come back to the concerned guy only to be told I will be alright to drive to the nearest petrol station to fill up. That's where I cracked up. I told them, I spend nearly $6000.00 and they did not even fill up the car with $10 diesel as they have their own tank there? Especially, my cars issue was fuel injectors. Anyway, I am upset but no choice but to leave and fill up to the nearest station. 2 weeks later my car is having issue again, bring it back and what they found is apparently there is water in the tank that they found that cause the issue and told them, the car have travelled 300kms after the service without problem until now. Worsts, they said the injectors they installed are out of warranty because of the water issue. I just could not believed it. I don't have control with the fuel I am buying and now..no warranty. I think they try to get away from their responsibility. Never again with Kevin Dennis. I always have issues with them from day 1 (Customer service, job is not done well like just serviced but upon checking, the oil is as filthy as before. Next, as I don't trust them anymore, I DIY changing engine oil only to find they must have their apprentice tighten the oil cover with a rattle gun and would not budge at all and had to use a breaker bar to undo it wherein this cover is meant to tighten to certain torque as there is rubber seal to it. (Btw, I am an old school mechanic petrol/diesel but can afford to get my car service as I can afford now. But I am no novice to new system, even the computer side of it) I am yet to find a trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanics in my 40 years in Australia. I have some idea about mechanic ripping people off and they are real over 50% at any one time, or maybe more.

Good deal – I recently purchased a used Holden Calais from Steinborners in Gawler and must say how pleased I am with the whole deal. disintigrated....not bad for a 3 year old car. Further, they sold me a 'capped price servicing' & an extended warranty, both not worth wiping ones bottom with....very expensive & very crap. When trying to claim on the extended warranty, these guys are masters at evasion, ducking & weaving, anything but honour the extended warranty. Further, the 'capped price servicing' is one big smoke & mirrors sham...it's just an oil change, that's it. If you want your vehicle actually serviced properly, then it costs an eye-watering amount. As I spend way to much time fighting Holden through ACCC, at least I can console myself in knowing now that they have folded, they can no longer rip off the Australian public by churning out cheap nasty crap & gimmicky after sales rip offs.
