Excellent example of motoring – Reliable and efficient car, i have the LS1 (5.7l), lots of grunt and great performance. Very comfy and great internals also. Great sound system, steering wheel and cluster display. The international came out factory with matching leather and cluster background. Show details
Excellent car. I had a 6.0l v8 for 13 years. A very reliable large car. Comfy. Safe – Reliable. Big. Roomy. Powerful. Safe and fun to run. I owned it for 13 years and gave it to my daughter. Well recommend for anyone who wants a big car. Mine was LPG. very nice. Show details
statesman – good cars, i have 2 wh s, a 2000 and a 2002 international, both with the LS1 motor. they go well with headers and a k&n air filter and take the cats out of the exhaust. Mean V8 sound and they breathe better too. Love my WHs . Best car ever and made by Holden Australia. You cant go wrong with one of these cars, even with 330,000 ks on the clock and still pulls the skin off a rice pudding. No SWEAT. Show details
Good but not perfect – I purchased the v6 wm in 2009 from Plaza Holden ,it had 33,000klm with books, plenty of grunt with 190kw and 5 spd auto, the alternator died at 90k disappointing, I have changed the oil and filters at around 7k ea time with fully synthetic 5w 30. Now at 135k the engine is still running good and still has the original timing chains no noise or… Read more
engine lights, normal things like waterpump and hoses have been done and coolant flush. The suspension was bouncy and was sorted with new shockers. My main gripe is the leather seats are too hard (statesman not caprice) I have owned this car for 10 years and it has been reliable maintenance is paramount on alloytec motors for a long life, my 2007 vz berlina wagon did 350k on the same engine before the chains went.
Perfect car for road trips – I think the Statesman is such an underrated car. It's a fantastic car to own. Very spacious, comfortable and reliable. There's a huge amount of rear legroom, but the VQ-VS series is good because they are a bit smaller than the ones that followed, so it's easier to get into tight parking spots. It's a very smooth and comfortable car to drive,… Read more
and great for long trips. It's definitely no corner carver, although it's predictable and well balanced, like most Australian cars from the past 20 years. Much better than American and Asian large sedans from the era.
The stereo is good, although I've upgraded the speakers. The air-con works very effectively. It's an easy enough car to see out of as well. Mine is dark blue with tinted windows - I think it's a great looking car and the design has aged much better than the NF-NL Ford Fairlanes.
The V6 is strong, and smooth enough in everyday driving. There's no real need for the V8 in this car, unless you want a better sounding engine or to tell your friends that you've got the V8. My biggest gripe is probably the auto transmission, as it can be a bit slow to change down when you need power. But the gear ratios are well spaced, and it's quite economical on the highway. I can easily get from Melbourne to Adelaide in one 70L tank.
It's been reliable, and it's a relatively simple car to fix.
Repairs to an old vehicle that most owners would get rid off – You people keep asking me to comment on a product or a specific tradesman etc, off all the reviews I have completed for your Company, Sheen Panel Service - Croydon have been excellent in all areas of repairing my old girl, nothing was to much trouble, book in times for repairs etc, when they suited me, replacement vehicle - available, when I… Read more
needed it, work completed on time and on budget, twice for the VS Statesman and once for the 1999 Nissan Tiida.
Brilliant!!! – Ticks all the boxes in very bold ink,... Reliable, Comfortable, Powerful, Classy and Cool. This Stadoe is destined to become one of the classics of yesterdays car industry. Yep, the alternator etc will die, the tyres will wear, and the plastic bit may get old, shrink and then fall off in time, but then so will ya dick one day. The above… Read more
mentioned inside rear tyre wear issue had been addressed by Holden back in 2002 with the release of a rear camber kit to allow adjustment..problem solved..the plastics trim etc, try parking the car out of direct sun and applying a bit of 50+ sun screen now and then (it's true, this actually works).
The LS1 WH Statesman really is a 'fantastic' car in every respect. Mine is now sweet sixteen, sure she's been kissed a few times, but she certainly has 'never' been rooted.
Cheers

Excellent car – I have a 2000 model, 5.7 litre. I've had the car now for a couple of years, it has 200k and I have only had to replace an alternator. I understand this was a regular issue with the LS1engines. The car still runs like new and is at home on the highway. All original it's very quiet and handles surprisingly well. I'd totally recommend it. Power,… Read more
comfort, ride quality It tends to chew through tires too much. Apparently there was a past issue with this until they fixed it in the next model.
Excellent – It includes leather upholstery, six airbags, stability control, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, in-dash six-stack CD, 11-speaker audio system and Bluetooth connectivity.Full-sized spare on an alloy wheel. The Statesman is a wonderfully comfortable, relaxing long-distance cruiser. Its ride and handling is from the old school of… Read more
luxury limos, Great Value for money. Rides and feels like an expensive European car.Great dashboard layout. Plenty of room. Like driving while sitting in your armchair GPS should be standard
Good – Look I reakon this is a huge bang for your buck car, looked at a Benz that was $80K dearer and it didn't have as many features. No rain sensoring wipers, no auto lights etc. I know that may sound a little petty, but if your going to pay double the price just for the star on the bonnet, your in need of a self image review. Lovely car to drive, jam… Read more
packed with features and much more bang for your buck that european luxury cars. After 25,000km things started to get just a little bit loose, nothing major just trim squeaks, sun visor loose.
Faulty and peeling paint – I bought my statesman new and when the paint started peeling from the bonnet within the warranty period I put in a warranty claim which was denied by the regional manager, I then spoke with Holdens customer service people on several occasions and the finally came back to me and said that they would back the regional manager's decision and that was… Read more
the end of the matter (photo's of peeling paint available) A good car with many safety points Paint peeling fron the bonnet and warranty denied
Good – I've had this beauty for 4yrs, normally I only keep cars a couple of yrs. I love it, warts and all. Great drive, and ride, lots of space, heaps of grunt, I have the 6L. I love feeling the weight of the car while driving, sure footed. After 4yrs, and 27,000km, plastic side light covers cracked, buttons sticking, eg: wind, mirrors, leather trim… Read more · 1
shrinking (leather treated reg) crome moulding around windows falling off. Don't fit low profile 20" tyres, shocking ride, & expensive. Rear tyres wear too fast (no I don't do burn outs). Possible location for some faults, I live in Mount Isa, QLD.
Excellent – The body is wonderful, nice and comfortable this is a good car beautiful car i thik you must buy this car for your style The body is wonderful, nice and comfortable this is a good car Nothing wrong about this car
Bad – I bought one last year and had it three weeks. The V6 is nowhere near as smooth as it should be. I have had a WH, WK and WL so I have had some experience with them and didn't like this one. Great if you need the space otherwise look for something else. Lots of car for the money, interior space, magic looking The engine and drivetrain are nowhere… Read more
near as smooth as they should be. The V6 engine sounds thrashy at low revs. I believe these cars should be much better than they are.

how the hell could you simply put up with that? if paint is peeling and its not from you spilling something on the car then demand a repair!!!
