Very good washing machine – Hi I my Hoover 600b washing machine in 2002 since I have been using was a perfect washer now it bit problem is not washing wants to know why thanks Show details
A great, durable machine – I bought this second hand eight years ago. No idea how long the other owner had it before I bought it from them! It's still going strong. No issues whatsoever. It's moved from rental to rental in the time I've had it and even survived a year in "storage" on a friend's semi-sheltered outdoor space and two different outdoor laundry spaces… Read more
(protection from the rain unless it's very windy, but direct sunlight depending on the time of day). No issues with transporting it and setting it up again. No issues with anything, I've never had to get a repair. Use for a two person household.
Best top loader – This 6kg top loader has surpassed my expectations considering the purchase price. It has washed clothes sheets etc for a family of four since 2005 and it is still going strong. Minor repairs ie hot water inlet valve replaced and hose only. Few spots if rust on outer casing, don't know what machine will give this value and reliability when it does eventually stop working. Simple dials with no electronic programmes that you don't use. Show details
Best Machine ever – I have had my 600MD for 12 years, I think it spins for too long at the end of the last cycle. but apart from that I cant fault it. no problems with it in the time I have had it. washes my clothes beautifully, I never overload it with clothes, always wash using HIGH water level. I love the lint filter will never buy a machine that doesn't have one.
Deserves more than 5 star rating – I have had my machine for over 15 years it gets used nearly every day. The only thing wrong with it is that when I put the lid down now it will not automatically start but a short slap on the right hand side of the lid and it is off and washing. I dread the day I will have to replace it but when I do it will be with another hoover.
Simply the best – We've had ours for 12 years and it hasn't missed a beat. Having 2 small kids it get used up to 5 times a day. We can't believe what a reliable machine it has been. My mother and sister are both up to there 3rd machine of various brands in roughly the same amount of time, they should have brought a Hoover.
They don't make em like this anymore! – I've had my Hoover for about 12 years. In that time we have replaced the timer ($200) and now finally we aqre having difficulty getting parts for the gearbox, so its finally died. The reason we replaced the timer is that we purchased a Simpson, and tok it back for a refund a week later, as it just didn't wash. Thought we would try and get the old… Read more
one repaired. It lasted another 3 years, and that includes horse rugs and saddleblankets. I now have to give in and buy another, not happy, all the rest are inferior.
Hoover commodore top loader – I've had my top loader for nearly 22 years. My daughter bought 2 when her daughter was born - one for her & one for me. How's that for trojan service? I bet they don't make them like this anymore?? It's just on it's last legs as the spinner belt is too slack to do much spinning. Hope I can get another. Hoover Absolutely reliable, never had to replace anything. Show reply
Hoover – I had a 5kg Hoover hitch never missed a beat for over 12years.....I loved that it never once went out of balance. I previously had a Simpson and it went out of balance most loads,so I would go to hang the wash and find it still not done,it was so frustrating. I wanted to get te Hoover again but it seems in 2012 they make very few washing machines. Reliability, ease of use
OK – Only time will tell whether Hoover machines are as long lasting and reliable as they used to be. They have a good reputation, built on the whitegoods they have manufactured for decades, but the word on the street is that none of the whitegoods manufacturers make the kind of quality appliance they used to. If it proves to be a lasting and… Read more
reliable piece of equipment, I would buy Hoover again, although I would hope they have developed even more water/energy efficient machines by that time! Low initial cost (I paid under $600.00).
Reliability/years of service: Hoover is a well-regarded brand in Australia, my previous washing machine (now too small for my family) was a rebadged Hoover I had had for about 12 years. It also has electro-mechanical control rather than fuzzy logic, which (according to the repairmen I contacted) is much cheaper to repair and less likely to cause problems as long as its not abused by overloading, etc.
Reasonable wash time: longest wash time is 44 minutes. Very important to me, as I often need to get two loads of washing done before I leave at 8 a.m.
Water usage: this machine had the best water rating of the top loaders in my price range, although in part this is due to it not having a large capacity. The next size up in the Hoover range (7kg) has a significantly poorer water rating. But this was good compared to same-sized machines made by some of the other brands.
Power usage: ditto to water usage.
The Hoover 600MD does a more than reasonable job of getting the clothes clean and spinning them out without damaging them, in accordance with individual washing instructions on clothing. It was important to me that I could easily change things, like the water temperature, after the wash had started, as with most washes I like to put about 15cm of warm water in the bottom with the detergent to dissolve it, then switch it back to cold wash for the rest of the cycle. Some of the fuzzy logic machines I researched wouldn’t allow me to do this without restarting a wash cycle from the beginning.
Fancy features: The Hoover 600MD is a straightforward machine with no real bells and whistles, but it does have a few features my old machine didn’t have which I like very much.
(a) It has a “maxi-wash” cycle, where the machine pauses for about 10 minutes after the first few minutes of agitation. This ensures that the detergent/water gets into the clothing and then gives them a short soak (time for the detergent to start loosening the dirt?) before it continues with the longest wash time. It doesn’t replace soaking on stained garments. I use a very gentle home-made laundry soap liquid, this helps lift normal dirt very well.
(b) It has two separate “gentle” cycles, one of which is for permanent press/delicates and the other is for delicates/woolens. These have different rinse and spin times, depending on the fabric.
(c) It has four water temperature variables (my old machine had three.
Other pros: this machine has a very solid look and feel to it. It doesn’t make much noise and it doesn’t “rock” at all when it spins. It comes with a two year warranty on parts and labour, and a further three years (parts only) warranty on the transmission (gear box, etc.) bringing the warranty for the parts that are most likely to wear or go wrong to five full years. For very little extra we were able to extend the warranty to five full years parts and labour on the whole machine. The warranty extension was through the store. (a) The Hoover 600MD has a stainless steel lid (painted with white enamel). This is listed as a feature, but I am a bit worried that as time goes by it will get scratched by coat hangers and such, and rust where the enamel is removed. I used to occasionally rest things on the lid as I worked in the laundry, and now am trying to avoid doing this, which is inconvenient in a small laundry without a bench. My old machine (12 years old) had a plastic lid and it had neither broken nor rotted from the sunlight despite my putting things on it from time to time, so I don’t see this as a benefit.
(b) It was very hard to level (we installed it ourselves) because the design of the lid has a slight forward slope, and the sides were not perfectly vertical, so using a spirit level (as directed by the installation instructions) didn't help. Moving the leveling feet was also difficult and inconvenient, but this was in part due to the location of our washing machine space.
Excellent – My one was given to me as a wedding gift in 1996 and its still running. Only now it is starting to reduce the water pressure to filling the drum, but its now working over 14 years. I have two kids and I do all my washing in it. Reliable. Washes in less than an hour. Is easy to maintain. Not silent like most moderns nowadays.
Excellent – This has been great in the five years or so that we've had it. It takes plenty of washing, exactly what a young family needs! It's quick and unlike my previous machine the clothes come out clean and undamaged. Great capacity if you have kids. Works perfectly, quick, simple. nothing really
Excellent – I just love my Hoover and am dreading the day she finally goes to Appliance Heaven because they don't make Hoover anymore. A fantastic machine that washes and washes and washes. Easy to use and rotary dials are still great after 6 years. Nothing !!!

Good – Very economical purchase. Seems not to use too much water which is important. It is not digital, so less things that could go wrong. I am overall very pleased with my purchase I purchased mine 4 years ago and it has not skipped a beat dispite living in a share house with many occupants using the machine to it's full capacity very frequently. I keep loosing the lint filter inside the agitator and my hand is too big to fit in and fish it out.
Good – It looks a good machine ,well built, also very easy to install, and set-up. not noisy, easy to operate, good overal size none that i could find at this stage,i have only done three washes so far.
