Received my Suit and shirts on Friday, less than 3 weeks after sizing and ordering in the Woolahra store with Alexa, and it was a perfect fit straight away. Super happy with the quality and fit, couldn’t have asked for better. Had to place another order for some chinos instantly!! Thanks Alexa for all your help and look forward to coming in again soon :) Show details

I received a notification that my suit pants had arrived and booked a time a couple of days later to go to one of their stores to pick my order up. When i went in-store, the pants wasnt delivered. Institchu as a company. When you pay a premium, you expect high quality service and also stuff being there as promised.

I have also found there phone number to be unresponsive. You call, they say you are in a queue, and then the system auto-hangs up on you.

Overall, i dont recommed purchasing your suit from Institchu. You are better off getting off the rack (and then getting it tailored) or getting a real custom

I'm very happy with my 3 piece suit. I went to Melbourne to take my measurements and chose my fabric when I was there for the holidays. Indiana was very professional and very friendly. Go with InStichu at the Clearance St store in Sydney! – It has been two weeks since my wedding, and I want to share my experience with Institchu for anyone considering purchasing their wedding suits. I booked an appointment with Patrick at the Clarence Street store in Sydney. From the start, he was incredibly friendly and, most importantly, attentive to my preferences regarding color and design. You… Read more

might wonder, “Isn’t listening to the customer’s opinions a basic expectation for a salesperson?” My answer is no. In my experience, many stylists from other companies briefly listen to what you want, then interrupt to push their own suggestions. They often assume they already know what you need and rush to conclude with their opinions. While this might stem from dealing with customers of varying knowledge about suits, it can feel dismissive.

I firmly believe that listening to and reflecting on a customer's preferences is one of the most essential skills in sales. Unfortunately, not all stylists practice this effectively. However, Patrick truly stood out—he took the time to understand and incorporate my preferences when helping me decide on the design of my suit.

Everything else, from picking up the suit to communication via email, was seamless and hassle-free.

While I can’t speak for other stylists, I can confidently recommend booking an appointment with Patrick. Trust me—you won’t regret it!

Great Place for Wedding Suits – My groomsmen and I had a terrific experience with Katelyn at the Institchu showroom on George Street. Excellent customer experience – I recently bought a suit from this company for a wedding. The company representative came to my house, discussed my needs in detail and walked me through the entire process of having a suit tailor made. It was a very easy experience that gave me a great suit, shirts and silk ties at a great price. The work was much appreciated. Show details

I was disappointed with how long it took for suites to be ready, from the time I ordered them to adjustments was way too long. I was also not happy that my suites were made in Cuna and shipped to Australia, to me, measured and tailored suites are something that should be fitted locally as they are very personalised to each individual. If I had of realised this before purchasing, I may have gone with someone else. Show details

We had an extremely disappointing experience with InStitchu Melbourne and would strongly recommend not ordering your wedding suit through them. given incorrect quotes multiple times, which were only corrected after we raised concerns ourselves. Even after escalating issues to head office, we received no response. The response we received from the Wedding Manager Romea was full of disinterest, gaslighting and incredibly poor customer service. Our initial appointment was in July, with measurements taken and fabric chosen in September. Despite being told repeatedly that everything was on track, we were informed in November—just 5 weeks before the wedding—that the chosen fabric was no longer available and would not arrive in time. This was extremely stressful so close to the wedding. We were told we could book another appointment to choose a different fabric, only to then be told the stylist was fully booked. Groomsmen suits were delayed by weeks, and multiple groomsmen also experienced the same issues with unanswered calls and emails. At one point, InStitchu even had incorrect contact details on file, further adding to the communication breakdown. This experience is especially frustrating given InStitchu advertises being a premium experience and that the wedding suit process takes 12 weeks—we allowed significantly more time than that and were still let down. Overall, the lack of organisation, communication, and accountability caused unnecessary stress during what should have been an exciting time.

I understand the business model is based around mass tailoring offshore and minor touchups locally, however my case is pretty unique. I ordered three suits, my own and my groomsmen, however I had to collaborate between the Sydney and Canberra showrooms. Issues arose when Institchu began sending suits to the wrong locations, and finally culminated… Read more

when I required one of the suits to come to Canberra for minor adjustments.

Staff actually lost the suit, it missed the window to come with me overseas, and I had engaged with Institchu head office (after returning to Australia) to have the suit found. My explicit instructions were to call me to organise a discussion for finding the suit, however I was met with repeated “No worries, please call XX at your convenience!” Which wasn’t convenient, as I had been constantly farmed to different areas of the company to figure out the issue.

Ultimately, I’ve written off that $2,000 - nothing seen for that lost suit, and the company churns out so many off-the-shelf pseudo-bespoke suits to people that they’re never actually going to reach out of their own volition.

My advice? Need a quick and dirty suit? Go see them. Want a good suit? Find an actual independent tailor in your area.

Fabric bait and switch – I have ordered a suit and shirts with them 3 times. I have now come to the conclusion that this shop uses bait and switch tactics (in relation to shirt fabrics). I ordered a set of thicker winter shirts and when they came back the fabric was really coarse like wearing a cardboard box (much worse than an old style tradie king gee shirt). So I… Read more

Dont bother, back and forth fittings and still no fit. Go find a real tailor instead – Dont bother, 5 months and 3 fittings later at the George street store, shirts still didnt fit and was finally offered a refund. Was fitted by 3 separate "tailors". Each time the shirts arrived, they didn't fit. Collar too tight, physically couldn't button up the shirt, second time the chest area was too tight, literally couldn't button those up,… Read more

3rd time and 3rd fitting, neither the collar nor the chest area fitted!! Honeslty not sure these are real tailors. Ive had shirst tailored in Asia before and they got it right pretty quickly. Will promise anything to make a sale, after that you'll be treated like trash – We had a family wedding last weekend; the groom and wedding party arranged their suits through MJ Bale but my partner and his twin brother opted to check out Institchu; what an absolute mistake! You’d think 3 months would be more than enough time to organise 2 identical suits, especially when paying just under $1,500 for each. So tell me why one… Read more

of the suits wasn’t ready until the final possible day we would have been able to pick it up before leaving for the wedding destination? They walked into the Karrinyup store on May 16th and were told they couldn’t be seen without an appointment (the store was empty, but okay sure, if that's the process they have to follow. So they booked in for 2 weeks later). First appointment was on June 2nd where they attended with their sister (the bride) to select the style and fabrics. At the end of that appointment, after noting the fabrics chosen and style requested, they were told their order would be $1,200. They were then told to book back in for the following week for the fitting (no idea why it couldn’t all be done in the one appointment but again, sure, whatever). One week later on June 9th we returned for the fittings, they finalised the order and requested payment. We almost had a heart attack when he said it would be $1500 for EACH suit. We questioned the staff member who didn’t seem to have any interest in helping us at all (he had told the boys during the appointment that he was quitting soon and didn't really care about this job anymore) he advised us that Institchu were *graciously* throwing in a free shirt (that’s even worse, $1500 for a jacket and pants only). We were hesitant since the price had more than doubled what we were quoted, but the staff member said we had to make a decision today if we wanted to allow enough time for manufacturing. We reluctantly paid and I followed up with an email to Institchu the following day. After being given 5 different excuses for the price discrepancy, and Institchu changing their story multiple times every time I debunked what they had told me, the only resolution offered was telling us that the order hadn’t actually been sent for manufacturing yet, so they could just cancel it and issue a full refund. This was offered on June 17th, over 4 weeks into the process, and they knew damn well that wouldn’t give us enough time to start the process over with another tailor. You would think after being made aware the customer was unhappy, offering no satisfactory resolution, and charging an extortionate $1500 per suit, the staff would go above and beyond to make sure the rest of our experience went smoothly. The suits arrived back and we booked the first try-on for July 19th, two days prior we received a call from Institchu asking us to reschedule our appointment because “we have another client who can only make this time, and we want to prioritise them”. I’m sorry but quite frankly, I don’t care. We booked our appointment to accommodate 4 people’s work schedules and can’t make any other dates work. So we turn up for the try-on and in a twist no one saw coming (everyone saw coming), neither suit fit correctly. That’s fine, we knew it may require minor adjustments, but one of the suits was waaaaaaaay too small in the shoulders. Don’t ask me how measurements taken by the same staff member, on the same day, on IDENTICAL twins could vary so much, but I guess anything is possible for Institchu. July 27th, the suits are back from alterations and ready for collection, we arrange for all 4 of us to go and collect. The appointment is at 3:30pm, we are literally walking around the corner to enter the store when they phone us, “the order isn’t all here and you’ll need to be rescheduled”. When we walked into the store 5 minutes later the two women were gossiping about the phone call they’d just had with us. We asked to see whatever parts of the order HAD arrived, that’s when we learned that one whole suit was actually there, so we could have picked up at least one of them, why automatically tell us we needed to reschedule?? They tried to explain to us that the other suit needed shoulder alterations and “the person who does shoulders is on leave” so they’d try and have it back within a week. Last time I checked, shoulders are a pretty standard suit alteration, you’re telling me not one other person in your company is capable of altering shoulders? And why was this not picked up until <10 minutes before our appointment?? The other suit is finally ready to collect on August 7th, they get the suit home and call us asking if we can bring our suit over to compare side by side because theirs doesn’t look right. When we arrive it’s immediately obvious that the shoulder alterations have been botched. The seam is pulled so tight and is puffing up on both sides because they measured incorrectly in the first place and didn’t have enough fabric to let it out correctly. They went back to Institchu the following morning on August 10th to ask them to resolve the issue, now with 4 business days until we were driving out for the wedding. We were assured they would get it fixed and back to us no later than Thursday, and in true Institchu fashion they waited until the last possible moment, not having it ready until Thursday afternoon. It only took 8 visits, 13 weeks of stress, countless calls and emails to chase them up, and close to $3000 but we finally have two poorly made suits that look no better than ones we could have just bought off-the-rack. Congratulations Institchu, we were all worried that one of the actual wedding vendors would cause the most stress and difficulties in the lead up to the big day, nope, turns out you took first place with that one. I hope you’re proud.

Close to ruining my wedding – Where do I even start? Put it simply, I ordered a suit and shirt for my upcoming wedding 2 months in advance. Now I'm 10 days away to my wedding and I still don't have a perfect fitting suit. The first stylist had no sense of urgency and terrible communication and she was no longer with the company halfway through the process. Finally went to pick… Read more

up the suit after waiting more than 5 weeks. shirt couldn't even be buttoned all the way as it was too tight, trousers were too tight and too short, jacket had strange puckering all over the seams on the sleeves and front of the jacket and looked all wrinkly as a result. Initially tried to tell me it's normal and I had to push back and tell them this can't be normal. the jacket also had a snag at the back and way too big for me. Everything had to go back to get altered. was told 1.5 week max. almost 2 weeks later I go to pick it up again. Jacket still not 100% and shirt not even back with them as they ran out of fabric or something. To be fair, they are now trying to sort it out for me before the wedding but it's too little too late. Now i have to go through the additional stress of wondering whether I'll have a fitting suit and shirt to wear to my wedding in less than 2 weeks. Absolutely gutted.

Institchu tried to resolve it for me a week before the wedding but given how incompetent they have been and so-called tailored suit is 10 times worse than off the rack suit, I requested a refund and got an off the rack suit 4 days before the wedding. Wasted so much time and effort thanks to their incompetency not to mention the huge amount of stress and strain they created.

Do not trust all the 5 star reviews. that's what I did and almost ruined my expensive wedding. They are not tailors. They don't even tell you during the fitting whether somthing looks off or not the way it should. you have to do all that yourself.

What an easy way out to just provide refund after all this time. Never again and I will be telling everyone I know to avoid them (I work in corporate environment for one of the biggest multinational company).

I should also let people know that they let a complete novice measure me and used me as training opportunity for one of their new employees. completely unacceptable for a wedding order.
