Efficient, effective, compact, quiet, broke down – I loved this dehumidifier for the 18 months that it worked flawlessly. After experiencing a recurring mould problem in my apartment which no matter how hard I cleaned came right back, I ordered one of these dehumidifiers, turned it on in my problem room and the mould didn't come back. I've deducted a star because the power adapter brick that came with it malfunctioned and had such a serious fault it melted down, this is quite disconcerting as I believe the heat may have been enough to start a fire if it got hot enough to melt the power adapter enclosure which it did.

Fortunately though the dehumidifier didn't burn down my house, and for the period it functioned properly it saved all of my personal belongings from perishing at the hands of ruthless mould. The dehumidifier also saved my power bills as it only used 70W vs the several hundred watts the larger more expensive models use.

Now the mould is returning and I will be ordering the updated model the Ionmax 681 as the 680 is no longer available. I hope this model will work as well as its predecessor, although I am bothered the new model uses an extra 30W of energy (100W) vs the paltry 70W of energy the 680 used.

Check prices for this excellent product – I found this product on the internet when looking to rent a commercial dehumidifier. No one in the chain of trades sent by our Home Insurance company to assess our plumbing and related damp issues knew that it was possible to buy this cheap effective home dehumidifier. The building company rep sent today to check water saturation levels in our bathroom/bedroom wall was astounded with the drop in saturation levels. It has drawn out 1 litre per week for the 11 weeks - running during daylight hours. The cost @ AUD$158.95 compared favourably with rental cost of a large commercial dehumidifier (@ AUD$220/week or $150/week for a period 3 weeks +) which the Insurance Company had previously covered for a max 3 weeks via a water damage carpet company. Having supplied a print-off of the product to the building rep just now, who will return eventually to repair the wall, I see that the same product is available $12 cheaper via a search under the product name, but I am just grateful I found the Ionmax Ion680 at all. Reliable, inexpensive, energy efficient, sleek design and 12 month warranty
