A very well built caravan with exceptional value for money , replacement parts are easy to get , off road handles well but wouldn't recommend on the beach due to length The only thing to remember is to replace the anoide in the gas hot water , i didn't know about it and had to completely replace the system big van that is light , 5 star i would rate due to value for for money and being light had mine for 16 years Show details

Jayco Sterling Pop Top – We Like the concept of the 2009 Sterling that we bought new, it has a shower/toilet area and a U shaped dining area. We have probably traveled about 30,000 k over the years and apart from some minor problems which I solved myself have been happy Sterling owners until - After travelling back from Chinchilla, a revoltingly bouncy road we noticed the… Read more

forward side panel had de-laminated. Jayco were unimpressed and commented 'This is not warranty though. This is from rough terrain and overloading. Peter Manning' (how did he know, was he there, hiding in one of the cupboards?). OK Guilty we have been to the Carnarvan Gorge, there were also other caravans there, Surprise!! How can you overload a Caravan, not enough storage area, clothes, 12v compressor for tyres, small toolbox. I guess we should leave such essentials behind. Cost $495 to repair. Now there has appeared a 3-400 mm crack in the gel coat, front nearside f/glass molding. How can we sell this at a good price? Guess we will have to keep it until it falls apart, don't buy a f/glass caravan, and if you have one sell it, is my conclusion, not made for Queensland/NSW roads.

Great introduction to caravanning – Bought a 2009 24.75ft sterling from Bayswater Jayco in May 2009, two days later we (wife and two kids) left on a trip around Australia, we finished 10 months later having travelled in excess of 30,000 klms. I have to say the whole experience from the purchase from bayswater jayco (thanks Malcolm)to the backup service from jayco was absolutely… Read more

first class. having been in the automotive repair industry for over 30 years i can not fault the product, price and backup service. On completion of our trip is was an easy process to prepare the caravan for resale, Jayco Bayswater were again sensational in sorting a few minor issues for us (screen door lock, stove igniter and TV aerial). Sold the van 5 days after advertising with the high sale price a great result.

Being in the automotive repair industry, I can only advise people to purchase both caravan and vehicles for the application that you intend using it for. On our trip around Aust, i was constantly amazed with people with underpowered vehicles, incorrect towing setting, together with using a caravan where only an off road HD camper trailer should go.

I'm sorry to hear some people haven't had the best experience, but i would say to all, it's a great way to see the country and don't give up. V reliable, great piece of mind with service backup.

2013 jayco sterling – We purchased a 21 ft jayco sterling from watsons caravans cuffs harbour guided by reviews of this dealership. We were not disappointed, It was a good retail experience with every detail attended to by their excellent staff. Our trade was pulled up beside the new van to facilitate unloading whilst watsons set up the tow hitch and checked outside. … Read more ·  1

We have owned 7 caravans over 30 years and expect faults however we are delighted with the quality of the sterling. Inside the edge banded furniture is fitted nicely with even margins and the leather upholstery is nicely sewn. The design is superbe showing that much thought and experience has been introduced. Everything works ! There are no water leaks and boot lid and external panels and door are heavily gasketted.

The van tows beautifully and it has the security of electronic stability control. Weight at 2250kg tare feels no different to our last van(1960tare) and we have the extra space of a slide out east west bed. Other excellent features are soft touch lighting(electronic transmitter controlled extensive storage and good insulation.

Overall we are delighted with the quality of the van. Jayco has received some poor reviews for quality (like many other van manufacturers) however thie improvements made by the company are now evident in our van. We would recommend jayco without hesitation based on our experience. Features , quality of finish, insulation, ease of towing Sharp corners under microwave a threat to bald heads

Annoying failures on a great van – I also have the same van, 2013 with large slide out. Love our van but suffer from shower floor cracking up due to no support. Can't control the lighting and a real pain to reprogram. Just started having the hinges on the overhead cupboards starting to lock up tearing the hinges out of the doors. Sad considering there are so many good things we love about our van.  Show details

Jayco chassis – We love our caravan, but jayco make they own chassis inhouse they will not help with chassis carry capacity weights. They state that it is 300% stronger and resist bending by 175%, because they won't confirm this in writing is this right.  Show details

Delivery problems – We paid a deposit on a jayco to south Auckland carvans in New Zealand in November 2017 we are still waiting to take possession, we have been given 3 different dates and it is now mid July we can expect it to be ready- I am doubtful- they are blaming the guy that fits the Sky aerial - would not use south Auckland caravans again

3 bunker beds – Good van but cheap built construction. Bunker beds collapsed with use as they use cheap pine laminated frame and a few small self taping screws. Rest of caravan we love.

2010 Jayco Sterling – We bought our 2010-21.6ft Jayco Sterling back in 2015. This is our home now, we've never had any bad issues. Just the slight repairs here and there, but nothing hubby couldn't fix himself. 2024 now, we've owned this van 9 years and our Sterling is 14 yrs old now. Our van is still in great condition as we like to keep it well maintained. So, I cannot fault the Jayco Sterling. Show details

Value for money but be prepared to fix things – I’ve had my Jayco Sterling for 7 years , and have over 40 000km in it ! In that time I have had to fix numerous things On Day two as I was showing the van to the family the gas strut mounting point on the front locker broke off , the 5kg strut was held in place with four 3mm x 6mm long timber screws ( into fibreglass ) The bed frame is made out… Read more

of finger jointed pine (which is not supposed to be structural ) my wife weighs 65kg I weigh 80kg and the bed failed

The cupboards are so badly put together! .. if I saw a apprentice do a job that badly I would have kick his backside ! I pull all the cupboards apart and reinstall them as good they could be(without replacing everything)

I have a trade background so the repairs are not hard to do , but if your not handy you’ll be taking the van back to Jayco after every trip (& they are not all that helpful and will try and make you pay for their poor workmanship )

This van was about 9 k cheaper than a equivalent van form someone else!

These issues have not stop me from having a great time with the van and now after all the repairs I think I’ve got clean sailing ahead !!!

I have kept records of my issues

16 problems that had to be fixed

$480 cost for parts

55 hour of work

Note $120 for a service guy to line up the axles with the body!

Jayco 2016 Silverline Outback – we have brought this van travelled to SA for a month, we had a few minor issue, which de got Care a Van in Canning vale to sort when we got back. Bloody fantastic van. The mattress was comfortable but we brought the egg shell topper and that has us sleeping like babies. No need to upgrade mattress. We also made some changes to the cupboards which Jayco did for us to have more hanging and also clothes space, at the end of the bed.  Show details

JAYCO - watch out if you arepaying a deposit! – I put a $4500 deposit on a Jayco Outback at the Brisbane Camper Show in July this year. They could not deliver until December this year! and 3 months prior to them manufacturing the van. They took a long time to decide about refunding my deposit and finally sent me back $3000. - better than nothing i suppose but seemed a bit tough as i am an aged pensioner. So just be careful if you are likely to place an order for a new Jayco as it could take you months before delivery and should circumstance prevail you might lose some or all your deposit....

Cracking Gel – Ozzie 54 I don't know where u have been? We do a lot of caravanning & speak to a lot of people that have had the same problem with the cracking. All r Sterlings!!! It is a Jayco fault it has been proven. Some have been lucky & had their van repaired, a lot haven't. You think they would fix a product fault to keep their good name. But they are loosing it, no they have lost it

what a disappointment! – After four weeks of use, slide out failed, caravan door lock failed, leaking shower, water pump impeller failing, cupboards and drawers difficult to open, spare parts rarely stocked by jayco centres (a huge problem when travelling) and more.

Cracking of gel on exterior walls – My 2006 Jayco Sterling has thousand of minute crack in it's Exterior Gel. Jayco is well aware of this major fault as it was inferior walls purchased from Germany. out has problems and have been waiting 6 months for Jayco to find a solution, we have now asked for a refund as the thing is not fit for purpose every time we tow something else breaks. It is only towed on tarmac and no quicker than 90KMH. Would hate to try it on dirt far to fragile. Now they are all interested in fixing the slideout after our letter. Totally love my Jayco its my second home – Our Jayco Sterling Poptop is seven years old, we bought it second hand four years ago. We have travelled many thousands of kilometres around Australia and apart from the water hose working loose over extremely rough terrain (it is not an off-roader but sits very high) it has never given us a bad moment. I have read negative things about Jayco, but for us I wouldn't change a thing.

This one has had problems 2013/ 2165-4 – This is our 4th Jayco. We have always loved them and been very happy with the service we have received, we had no real problems apart from a broken light switch or door latch, until this 2013 model. Before we even took delivery of it they had to adjust 3 of the blinds!!! shower it crackles like crazy, bathroom door jumped off track despite being locked down, damaged the floor vinyl, again too big a job to repair and can`t guarantee it will look good if fixed.Vanity had a hairline crack that had obviously been filled but after 3 months it showed up again,The sliding drawer near the entry door was rubbing on the external door when it was shut, the small blind on entry door is so flimsy it has torn. All this within 3 months of purchase !!!! Yes it will all be repaired under warranty !!! but no can`t do shower base as it`s a major problem, it has been noted and if any further problem it will be fixed ! I am still waiting some 18months later to have the front blind replaced after they sent the wrong size twice. So in May this year the van will be 19months old and yes the warranty work will be carried out !!! Are we happy NO Jayco what had happened to your quality control? What has happened to your service we had become used to. Well as soon as the van is fixed it`s bye bye Jayco for us never again will we but one.

to try before you buy. Yes I know that there are other vans out there with problems you can't always get the perfect van.

The plumbing, small pantry only allowed me to get to the top shelf and the front half of the next two. The door has a gacp the I can put my fingers through. Have tried to get the fluffy stuff to replace but not able to at places we have been to. The outer door flew open when travelling and we needed to stick down with tape whilst travelling. these are a few of my thoughts.

It is laughable when they say the sterling stands at the head of their fleet.

The mistake was it was made. I think it was Friday arvo built.
