Laurastar Evolution G4

I'd hate to see it go. Love it to bits – The iron has been a blessing. Had so many irons in the past. Bought new ones every year but since the Evolution G4 that's a thing of the past. Have had the G4 for 7 years now and only had one service during the first year when the iron's steam holes got blocked. No charge, as was still under warranty and have not had any problems with it… Read more · 1
since. I iron weekly, usually for 2 to 3 hours - no complaints. So far it's been a great reliable iron.
Good when they work – I have been buying Laurastar irons for over 10 years and only woke up last year. The biggest waste of money ever. Let it break down and you are in big trouble, cost of repairs is between 300 to $500. so this time I purchased a Braun for $300 and it is even better than the Laurastar (doe not spit) Don't waste your money like I did for so many years. Worth the investment – I only just found the G4 reviews on this site. Had I seen them years ago, I would have written one much earlier. My wife and I always wanted a Laurastar but never got one. When we separated (amicably) it was one of my first purchases (2009) and have not regretted the initial outlay. We used to replace our irons every 1-1.5 years at nearly… Read more · 3
$200 a pop - it was false economy in the end.
I iron every night and, to date, the G4, has not let me down. I look after it, but probably could be more vigilant in doing so. However, in saying that, it still works perfectly after 7 years. It's a little discoloured around the edges and has a couple of cracks (to be expected), but it the steam pressure and heat has not changed after all this time.
This might sound strange but, in a way, I wish it would breakdown as I would love to buy one of the ironing systems with the ironing board. "Sadly", I think its still got a few years left in it.
I would be happy for readers to contact me if they would like verification of what I have written. Also, I have never written a product review before but I specifically registered tonight just to show how pleased I have been with my purchase!
Perfect – I have had my Laurastar G4 for about 6 years and cannot imagine ironing without it. Love it. Tell all my friends about it. I intend to keep using it until it dies and then I shall buy the latest model. Yes they are terribly expensive but for me it is justified and I actually enjoy ironing. Show reply
One of my best purchases..love it!! – I have had my Laura Star ironing system for over fifteen years possibly closer to twenty and never had a problem with it even though I only drain the tank and rinse out very infrequently. Has never been serviced. Maybe the older models were built to last. Hope I haven't jinxed myself! It still has the original red ironing board cover and gives… Read more · 1
such a professional finish to my clothes and linen. Only negative is waiting to cool down before it can be refilled with water, but I believe newer models can be refilled without the wait.

Would not recomend a Laurastar – After reading the reviews of the G4 Laurastar I am sorry to so I have to agree with the earlier comments. I purchased a LStar and had it fixed twice under warranty, and again had it into the repair shop just recently only to be told it would cost me over $400 to be fixed, or I could get a new one with a $200 trade costing me $800..... I agree with other comments made as I don't live in the city I would have to drive 7 hour round trip to get it fixed - be with iron, then drive 6 hours to pick it up!!
I contacted Laura Star to tell them of my purchase all they could offer me was $100 off the repair of my iron, reducing $330.66 or I could purchase a Demo model for $479!!!
I have had other brands of steam irons in the past and have to say Sorry Laura Star Not a fan and are now looking purchasing a cheaper model, and I'm doing my home work this time

I consider my G4 like a bad addiction – I adore my laurastar G4 iron but I would hate to add up how much the inconvenience and repair bills have cost me over the years. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful however with regards to the G4 the friendship is getting a little tired.
It was not the 'forever' iron and although it is repairable I wasn't expecting it to be so often.

Laura Star Platinum water leaking on garments constantly – I have just purchased a Laura Star Platinum and it irons out creases fairly well, however, water is constantly drenching my garments constantly and leaving water marks! Great performance but breaks down after 2 years..Expensive maintenance!! – Hello from Greece. Laurastar iron gives you the best ironing experience of your life but not for long. I agree with the rest that right upon guarantee, it breaks down. The bad thing is that it costs a fortune to repair!!!! With the money spent to repair it, you can buy a new cheaper iron. It is really a shame.

NOT built to last - disposable item – The iron itself performs well WHEN it works. This is the third laurastar iron we've owned. The first one died just after the warranty period expired - so we paid to have it repaired ($300+ and the service dept gave us a reconditioned one. That lasted another year and the the generator died. We traded it in for the G4 and now the generator has… Read more
died, just past warranty period. We have followed instructions and according to the service contractor - there wasn't much of a build up but the steam generator has to be replaced. For an iron that costs a lot of money, the generator should last longer than the warranty period. The iron gets used once a week - so it's not like it is being over worked. And the options are spending $350+ to repair or trade in for $250 off next iron. I have recommended the brand to 2 others who similarly purchased one and experienced the same problem of it completely breaking down after 2 years. Not good enough. I would not recommend another one UNLESS you are prepared to throw it out after the warranty period or trade in and spend more money to replace it.

Had a G4 for 8 years and it's never missed a beat – I don't know why people say they break down because I have had my Laurastar G4 for 8 years and I love it, it's been used weekly and I confess I don't maintain it as well as I should! It is just a well built piece of machinery that makes ironing easy! Show reply
Average performance. Expensive. Broke just after warranty ran out – Pretty much as the title said. I thought I was getting the best quality ironing system out there, but really it was just expensive and didn't work so well. I didn't get the top of the line one with the built in ironing board, but it would take 10-20mins just to warm up which is ridiculous. alone one of the cheaper steam systems that are available. It also requires a lot of maintenance to descale etc and mine developed problems just after the warranty ran out. I would really never buy one again. I don't mind spending top dollar for top quality, but this item really disappointed me, I'm sure there are much better ironing systems out there for much less money. In fact, you can get your shirts professionally laundered and ironed for about 2 years for the same money.

steam comes out of hers either. So we have two Laura star irons in the family that are not working. We bought both from Heidelberg and have been very disappointed with the service as these irons constantly break down. This should not be happening on a regular basis since we were told they were built to last. Definitely not. We follow all instructions, keep the plate clean, bought product from Laura star to clean the plate and flush irons every 10 hours. Doing the right thing and they still break down so this is telling consumers they are not a quality product. Contacted Laura Star with no help from them at all in the past.
Laura Star please take responsibility and help your loyal customers who have been loyal to you in purchasing your product. Be human and do the right thing.

Constantly in for expensive repairs! – In spite of following the care instructions to the letter my G4 iron required repairs at least once every year, and the repairs are just ridiculously expensive and that is on top of the inconvenience of having to drive the iron to Bankstown repair centre and then drive back (up to two weeks later) to collect it again. On the plus side, when it works it does a wonderful job, just love the soleplate!

without fail and regularly clean the sole plate, I figure a small price to pay to take care of it. May 2014 it was leaking water so phoned laurastar and they told me to bring it in which did. Apparently the pressure regulator and probe was leaking, whilst it was there they also did some upgrades the on/off switch being one and all seemed to work ok except the little plastic cover over the light was missing and the switch did feel a lot different to turn on and off than it did before the upgrade but I thought I'm not going all the way back again a minimum 2 hour trip there and back. Today it won't turn on at all, the switch feels really odd as though it's not clicking into place so I'm not happy at all having to travel all the way back again. Laurastar review - a great iron but not built to last – For this price ($1,199 @ David Jones) the LauraStar Premium G4 should work for at least 10 years of normal household use and that is what we were promised when we bought it. However it does not last that long. It has two year factory warranty and our G4 has broken twice already (and its only 21 months old, first it was the steam element second… Read more
time it was the switch). Come on, cheap irons work for twenty years or longer! Yes its a great iron, but very overpriced and it does not last long enough to pay for itself - therefore my two stars. We had another Laura Star iron/steam station before the G4 and it died after only 3 years of use. I would not buy Laura Star again.
Our warranty is about to expire and I am very worried. Laurastar clearly does not meet the level of quality and performance that would be reasonable to expect, given the high price and description. If our iron breaks again after the warranty expires we would argue that the item is not of merchantable quality and ask for it to be repaired free of charge. It is reasonable to expect that a top-of-the-line, expensive iron should not develop any faults in the first 5 years at the very least. On the basis of the price and Laurastars sales literature we made the reasonable assumption that we were purchasing goods of high quality and enduring performance. We were very wrong. I would never recommend Laurastar to a friend or relative.

with all excuses under the sun why they don't have my history ie they did their service manually and not log it into the computer. Another excuse was the Chatswood store was newly open and didn't log the services on the computer, etc. They even said you must've brought it to Bankstown for repair (duh, I know where I brought my machine). The Customer Service Manager also gave me a lecture that I didn't do the required maintenance on the machine. I do the maintenance regularly enough for the ironing time I use (every 2-3 months). She also reminded me that my iron is considered quite ''old". Considering that this machine is supposed to be the Rolls Royce of steam iron, take it from them that they consider 6-7 years (G4 model came out 7 years ago) to be old and expected the unit to break down so my recommendation is to stay away from this product as Laurastar does not know the meaning of customer service. Save your money and purchase something new every 3 years on a competitor's product and you are still way ahead! Save yourself from having to listen to a lecture from their "Customer Service" Manager, Sandy. She even told me off for interrupting her whilst she did most of the talking and none of the listening!!! Product saves time when it works Breaks down every two/three years. Customer service: what service? They don't even have my machine's history on file.

Further to this, I explained to your 'Customer Service Advocate' Anne that my mother had been extremely stressed from the frustration this iron has caused her over the last few years .
We were sold this iron through the one of your Sales Reps in DJ's as the 'Rolls Royce' of all irons.
This could be further from the truth.
Our Phillips Iron($75) that we purchased some 9 years ago from Target has not had one issue- yet this $1000 machine (about 5 years old) is a nightmare as its temperamental- works one day-doesn’t work the next- no steam- excessive steam- leaking water- grunting- one shirt ironed than machine doesn’t work!In all fairness when it works, its excelelnt but this is the issue, its tempremental.
Clearly this has not been positive experience as the unit is quiet temperamental. Our overall customer satisfaction in dealing with Laurastar ( Anne/Dino) has been of unsatisfactory despite being advised by Vince to speak with your "customer advocate" who he assured can assist us further with our problem. No avail.

Excellent steam iron station but not without it's faults – Laurastars are advertised as 'the rolls royce' of irons. Their more expensive ironing stations come with an integrated board with a fan so that ironing is literally 'ironing on a bed of air' similar to professional systems. The G4 system does away with the board, which is heavy and finicky. Instead, you have the iron, steam generator (boiler)… Read more
and inbuilt watertank with integrated aqua-filter. Crystals are included in the package.
It takes a few minutes for the water to filter through the crystals to remove calc. Then a few more minutes to heat up. It beeps at you if the bottom of the watertank runs empty.
A button on the iron releases high pressure continuous steam which can be used to iron. I use intermittent presses of the the steam button as demonstrated on the ironing video on the Laurastar website and vertical steaming is very possible, and most useful for long dresses or tidying up suits.
It works. No doubt about it. But the system is fiddlesome. The boiler has water in it even after turning off. You have to rinse it out by unscrewing the plug at the bottom once a month. Calc can indeed build up if you're not careful and the design of the watertank is a bit fiddlesome to screw back together, especially when wet.
But the steam does iron out creases neatly and the vertical steam function useful if you have a clothes hanger (I use a simple rack). Would I buy again? I don't know. But I do like using it for now. Irons out coarse creases, does not burn clothes (sole plate not heated), continuous steam Expensive. Fiddlesome and requires regular emptying
