Laurastar G1 First

Water leaking – I have had my G2 for approx 6 years and it has recently tripped the power. I am not going to spend the money to service it as I spent between $150-$200 2 years ago. I LOVED this iron, was an absolute breeze to use and cut my ironing time in half. My mil gave me her G1 which was barely used as she wasn't keen on it. I used it for the first time and it leaks water from the valve. I recall reading there was an issue with this model? Show details
The high price Laurastar charge does not match the terrible quality – I absolutely LOVED using this iron. It was great to use, and ironed beautifully. Until it broke after using for just under four years. It was a gift from my mum, who purchased late 2013 but gave to me in mid 2014. I understand that electrical items can fail, however when I sent it back to Laurastar they came back with a quote for almost… Read more
$500 to fix it, with a number of issues that needed fixing. With the price that is charged for this product, I would expect better quality than that.
Clearly, the quality is just not there, and they are charging a small fortune.
I was offered an ex demo Lift for just under $700, from memory, or to fix this one for just under $500.
It's worth noting that the iron cost less to purchase from TVSN than the repair cost I was quoted.
To make matters worse, my experience with the Customer Service Manager (Anne?) was terrible. I spoke to her on a Monday, and expressed my concerns re the quality and my reluctance to spend that sort of money on either a new iron or repairs, given the poor quality. She said she would look into it, and promised a call back by no later than COB the next day.
She finally called back the following Monday.
She was clearly 100% disinterested in helping me and wanted to get me off the phone as quickly as possible. Her solution was to take some of the items off of the repair list to make it cheaper (???!!!)
I was again offered a new iron at a discount. I'm not willing to spend that sort of money when I have no reason to believe it won't break again in a few years. Her response was, more than once, "Well, it might NOT break".
It was clear that Laurastar has very little confidence in its own product.
As I said, I loved using the iron, so I am beyond disappointed at this outcome, as I was set to use Laurastar products for the rest of my life! Unfortunately, the quality just doesn't match the price, so this is no longer the case.
Buyer beware. Things break, but how the company deals with it is everything, and Laurastar made it very clear they didn't care that their quality wasn't up to scratch, and were only interested in trying to sell me another product.

Good result but cumbersome to clean – This was my first steam iron and first Laurastar. The steam is fantastic, I doubt I could go back to the traditional style of iron now. Being an older design it is a bit cumbersome to have to turn it off, wait for it to cool down, fill it (but not overfill it) and then wait for it to heat up again. It is bulky and heavy and when rinsing it out you… Read more
have to make sure you don't drop the iron which can wiggle about if you're not holding it. Amazing to see all the calcified rubbish inside when you do though! I've upgraded to a Lift now, mainly because I wanted to be able to refill it and use it without waiting as long for it to heat up. They have trade-in offers which are quite good. I still think the G1 performed better and it was certainly quieter. The pump in the Lift is noisy but the design is a lot more convenient. The auto shut off on the Lift is also great. Still, if you get one of these and can handle the downsides it is a very good steam iron and your clothes will look great.

Iron for 3 years with problems – I purchased my Laurastar iron 3 years ago. In the first year I had issues with my iron. The seam on the steam part of the iron started to open. My iron was purchased directly from Laurastar in Melbourne.I live in Adelaide and was told to take my iron to Ivesons on Unley Road. Which I did. They said they would call me when it was fixed. It was at… Read more
the store for a few months and I was starting to worry, I called them and was told that they had forgotten about my iron. I waited a further few weeks before I could get the iron back.
A few weeks ago I had trouble with my iron again. I rang Laurastar and was told that i should take it into Mr Dishwasher. Mr Dishwasher had a look at the iron and they were very confused because they said that I dont have a serial number on my iron. I don't think that's my fault. Laurastar are saying they have no record of my previous problem. I'm being made to feel like I've done something wrong. I purchased an expensive iron and expected to not have problems within the first few years. The steam cap and another part had to be replaced. total cost $116.I'm not a happy customer and will certainly not recommend this product to my family and friends. I am a teacher and will let my fellow workers know of my experience too.

Excellent – A posh product that works brilliantly and makes ironing a strange pleasure! Fun and easy and kids like the steam jets! I love the iron. Unfortunately mine had a fault when purchased. It had a dodgy thermostat so that after ironing for 10 minutes or 3 or so items, it began beeping (very loudly)! for a water refill. I knew it was fine to continue… Read more · 2
however as there was no way the tank was empty. I lived with the fault for a time due to time an inability to get to Laura Star despite them being only 10 mins drive from my home. When I did get there recently with my iron 3 months out of warranty, they kindly fixed the appliance for free! A window to see water levels would be good. Maybe make the beeping 'low water' level indicator less noisy!! Nothing to dislike really - it's a fab iron and makes your clothes look like they've been professionally laundered with zero ironing experience. Do buy any extras (which are costly) such as water filter and delicates ironing plate. They make a huge difference.
Excellent – Overall I love this iron, I am able to get better results in half the time it used to take to do my ironing. It takes a little bit of getting used to but the results are excellent. I personally couldn't justify the extra expense for the G4 model which has a re-fillable tank and faster warm up time, but I do find that waiting 10 minutes for the… Read more · 1
unit to heat up (especially when you have to refill mid ironing) and the stupid "straw" used for checking the water level annoying. I only do ironing once per week so I am prepared to live with this.
I still need a "normal" iron for those "but I want to wear THIS shirt" moments but this system is excellent and I would recommend it. Does a fabulous ironing job in half the time The 10 minute warm up time is a bit of a pain and the method for checking the water level in the tank is ridiculous.
Make ironing fun – I love my laurastar, ironing time is cut down by halve. Clothes look better and wrinkles are easily removed. I brought it through tvsn and took advantage of the monthly payments. Ironing has never been easier. Show 2 replies
