The Lenoxx HDS600 box has its own mind-don't get it – Got Lenoxx box by my son when he bought a TV with built-in tuner. He said it is good. I tried with 2 TVs, one old tube one and other with Plasma Panel.at my home. It just won't display any picture. Gave up and bought another one. After a year while cleaning house saw this and connected to my Plasma Panel. Suddenly everything came alive, all… Read more
working. Saw few channels - 1 (Ten), 2 (ABC) missing. Tried re-tune (Auto search). It finished that okay. While going through other setups, suddenly picture went blank and sound reduced to 10%. Tried everything, power on/off, connect/disconnect cables nothing would give picture back. Display stuck at Channel 15. The remote and front buttons like menu button don't work. Got fed up and put my other settop box back. Going to throw it in the BIN now.
Don't bother! – The poorest quality HD box I have ever used and not the cheapest. Reception pathetic where I live with inability to receive some major channels. The remote is a nasty little piece. I am sorry I didn't take it back but it was so bad I thought it was my antenna and antenna amplifier and wasted heaps of time and money in that direction. Poor interrupted reception makes me so angry i want to scream.
dim picture – I just bought and tried this out today - tested it in parallel with my trusty-for-ten-years DVX-555U old standard def.box - the Lenoxx picture was distinctly darker, like watching through sunglasses, and any scene with shadows was just about black. I swapped cables in different combinations, but any way, the difference in picture brightness… Read more
between my TV or DVX and the Lenoxx was like night and day.
Sound seemed faint as well, so I wondered about sensitivity - but then I tried the audio jazz channel which sounded just fine and the same as the TV.
I also tried recording to a new external 1TB Seagate hard disk which worked OK (despite 20 seconds to start to record, and clunky menus) but the replay picture was just the same - dim and unsatisfying.
After multiple tests I've decided it's not satisfactory - and will consider buying another cheapie (maybe Onix or Telefunken) for comparison before deciding whether to package it up to send back. time display on front when turned off, record to USB hard disk which turns off/on as above, clunky one channel at a time EPG with no hold-repeat button - you have to press the button many times to move down the list of programs; 20 second delays responding to PVR commands
Buy something better – Does the job and records a good picture, fairly simple to use, although remote is a little fiddly. Does NOT record one channel while watching another. Television has to be off to record. Put your money into a better quality unit. You get what you pay for. If you just want to record when you're not home, it will do the job. Cheap Won't record one channel while watching another
Runs both formats NTS and FAT 32 – Perfect for recording have done away with all VHS tape recorders as the quality of the box is unbelievable No mucking around with formatting runs both Easy set up Timeshift Show 3 replies
Works great! Remote not so good – For the price it works great. Remote is hard to get to work as you have to have it pointed exactly at the unit. Which makes it hard to use to set up a recording, and very annoying when you want to stop if you are fast forwarding, eg adds. If you are halfway through watching a recording and you just pause to return later to watch the rest, we found… Read more
out not to turn off unit as you will lose your place and have to fast forward, but the rewind and fast forward goes up to 32x. The audio can be a be behind after rewinding or fast forwarding but it catches up within seconds usually. Overall for the $50 we paid for it works well.
Remote has to pointed exactly at unit to work.
Excellent – Bought this from retailer brand new for $46. Is best HD tuner available for the price and performs well. Antenna I used is only rabbit ears style on top of TV. Can record to external hard drive and records in standard TS format. Can record via USB port while TV turned OFF. Tunes all SD and HD channels. Value for money. Nothing to mention.
Bad – You get what you pay for. I bought this to replace another Set Top Box because this had the function of recording to a USB device. It has not found any SBS channel or Prime/7Two. The necessity of having the TV turned on and tuned to the channel you wish to record rather defeats the purpose of having a recorder. I'm sending it back and will spend a… Read more
bit more. Cheap. Easy to install. Does not receive all channels. You cannot record to a USB device while the TV is off. You cannot record one channel while watching another.
