Long laster for a family of 4...finally died after 18 Years – This is more of a tribute than a review. Old faithful went kaput this morning with an unrepairable blown logic board transistor. Purchased around 2004ish, over the years I have kept it running only requiring 1 x drum motor, 1 x main bearing & 1 new drain pump. All easily replaced with spares from ebay. Im off to buy another simple LG front loader right now and hope I can get the same performance out of the new one. Show details

Absolutely fabulous!! – Quietest washer I have ever had and sings a little tune to tell you it's finished. Washes dirty Deisel work wear saves $$ on Eco wash and with the spin clothes come out half dry so drying time is halved therefore saves time. Highly recommend this machine it's my second LG washer. Love it.  Show details

They are the greatest washing machine for all familes. Far cry from the rwintub – Cleans like a charm, its not loud. Favourite features is the buzz at the end of the wash, i would recomend a front loader washing machine for any person, they save a lot of time, i get most of my other chores done while my Lg is in service, go the front loader.  Show details

Best washer we have had – We have had our machine at least 11 years and it's brilliant. Yes, the machine did vibrate a lot initially - we got a serviceman in under warranty - he fixed it by adding weight where the machine needed it and advised that this was covered by Warranty because of a known design fault (something like that, it was a long time ago). Ever since then… Read more

the machine has been perfect and has lasted much longer than our previous Bosch, with no issues.

I would buy this one again.

Worth every cent – I bought my machine in 2002 and it is only just coming to the end of it's life with water starting to leak in the last couple of weeks. Admittedly it does like to walk out of the laundry when in spin cycle but it has moved house a number of times and has had to do some hard work on occasion. I notice this is worse when the load is not full. When… Read more

reading the other reviews all I can think is that I obviously got lucky. After 13 years, I think I got my money's worth out of this machine. Never had to call for a fault or service once.

Love the various programs and it does a nice wool wash.

The only drawback is that I don't really need a 7kg washer and I'm often scrounging for items to fill the load as I do separate colours and types. But it comfortably takes a queen size quilt cover, pillow cases, bed sheet and more in one load.

Shame it's been discontinued. I'm in the market for another and I would certainly have considered this one again.

This machine is ok for the price – Ive had this one for about 4 years and its still fine. It doesnt move all over the floor but it does take a long time. I have noticed that the clothes can be less clean than the old machine though and it doesnt spin as dry as I would like.

Repaired once in 11 years – We purchased our LG Electronics WM0642HW when we moved into our new townhouse in the spring of 2003. The washer is still working fine although I believe there was one service call several years ago. We do not perform proper maintenance on a regular basis. We should leave door open, clean the dispenser tray more often than once a decade, etc. Despite that, this washer is still working. Flexible options. Reliability.  Show 2 replies

Jumps more than a bull at the rodeo during spin cycle – This is definitely the worst aspect of the machine. It shakes so violently during the spin cycle that I often stay and will lean against it to stop it from moving. My biggest concern is that it might one day damage the electrical cord while jumping around the laundry-up to a metre from where it sits against the wall. And it's loud-it sounds like a… Read more

freight train going past. I'm even more annoyed because I normally check out product review for other people's experiences, but this time I completely forgot.

I haven't had any issue with clothes being prematurely worn, but then much of my stuff is cotton and quite durable. I only use the quick wash cycle, but will use it twice for things like linen, as the other cycles take so long. I think the cotton cycle was around two hours, but not sure exactly, have only used it a few times, and some of my clothes came out streaked with detergent. It wasn't overloaded.

This is a pain. who wants to hang around keeping an eye on a washing machine to make sure it doesn't go walkies?! Definitely wouldn't recommend. Looks pretty. At least I don't have to wash by hand. Violent shaking and jumping during spin cycle. Inferior cotton or long cycle.

Zero Worst Machine I have ever owned – This machine is loud but the worst part is that it doesn't clean anything well and the cotton cycle takes over 3 hours to run. I've repeatedly had to re-run the load of clothing in order to get them clean. Waste of time and money! We've had numerous pieces of clothing damaged as well Expensive to run, uses too much water, electricity. Doesn't clean clothing. Damages clothing

I'd Give It Zero Stars If I Could – Like Tim1964, our WD-1274FHB will not stay still. It often moves almost metre during a wash (quite an achievement in a laundry less than two metres wide...), and has damaged walls and a sliding door. We've ensured it's perfectly level (front to back and side to side), tried cork mats under it to reduce vibration (it is on a tiled floor)and… Read more

nothing works.

It is also pretty rough on clothes as it wears clothes out quicker than any other front-loader I've had in the past 25 years, and the washing cycles are ridiculously long.

I've had other LG products previously (mainly electronics), but never again. It has kept working even as it smashes the walls around it. Probably a great buy if you're into washing machine racing... Unuseable and will be replaced with something that works (e.g Bosch), even though it's relatively new.

worst machine ever – We purchased this machine thinking all the bells and whistles it came with would suit our low maintenance lifestyle. We were very wrong. This machine would shake the paint off the walls. The main and only problem is the spin and wash cycle, it constantly has to adjust the load to stop it getting the death rattles and boy does it rattle. We sold… Read more

our own machine due to the fear of it damaging the walls when we moved into our new house. This machine is much worse. The displays look nice and when it gets going it works fine but you have to wait for an age for it to balance the load. Tip- over fill the machine as it seems to not shake the walls down when it gets going. Nice displays and can be quite shakes like crazy and constantly has to adjust the load.

Bad – We bought this machine to try to do the "environmentally friendly" thing, but I would never buy a front loader again. The wash is too gentle and the clothes don't come out much cleaner than they went in. My husband's overalls are never as clean as they were with the old agitator machine, and by the time I add extra time for the pre-wash and extra… Read more

time for the water to heat (why won't it take hot water right out of the connected tap?) it can take of 2 and a half hours to wash 3 pairs of overalls. I miss being able to soak first as I could in a top-loader, but that's not specific to the LG of course.

As I get older, I find it increasingly difficult to reach the back of the machine and my husband has had to build a platform for it. I would not consider a front loader again, and will look for an environmentally friendly top-loader next time. Economic water and power usage Doesn't get clothes clean. Takes too long

First Front Loader – Having never owned a front loader before I had nothing to compare this washer with, so when it started jumping around the laundry and the clothes became prematurely worn I thought it as normal. Having now read comparison reviews for other front loaders I recognise these issues as flaws with this machine. On the bright side, the machine has… Read more

operated without fault for the last 8 years. Easy to use and program, reliable so far. The machines violent vibration when on the spin cycle, and premature clothing wear.

Bad – I would recommend you relook at your budget. The Intellowasher seemed a bargain at the time - LG pays for some good Sales on this model - but count up what it swallowed in electricity and the cost of repairing it, and it cost more in the long run than a thousand dollar front loader. We've had it hauled away as scrap metal. Efficient water… Read more

consumption. I suppose I'm glad it had a Child Lock, though my son is cluey enough not to climb in. Extremely unhappy with this machine! Cotton cycle takes 2 and a half hour - ridiculous! Called back where we bought it, we were told to use the Time Saving option. Ha! That saves @5 minutes, depending on the temperature. Water consumption was great, but electricity usage was suspicious. It was as loud as a Jet Engine. Use a temperature below 50 C, and clothes consistently came out moldly. It broke down twice after warranty expired, and it was a $230 charge each time. Sadly, while it seemed expensive to me, this Below a Thousand Dollar model was not made to last over time.

Terrible – Absolute rubbish. Simply the worst front loading washing machine I have ever owned, and I have had front loaders for the last 25+ years. The first one was impossible to set up correctly so it could go through the spin cycle without walking all over the laundry, and after too many phone calls, weeks, hand-balls and excuses, it was finally replaced… Read more

under warranty. The second one was OK for a month or two before it developed the same problem. After months of lying on the laundry floor trying to get it set up correctly, by which time it had damaged two laundry walls and done a fairly good job of removing the laundry wash tub... I threw it out of the house in disgust. It now sits in the carport waiting for one of those offers of a "cash trade-in for any working washer". I'd love to inflict it in The Good Guys who sold it to me. LG? Got me once, won't get me again. Ummm... the timer showing how long until the wash is finished was a good feature I guess. Could not get it to stay where it was put. Its penchant for laundry demolition.

Good – This is a great washing machine. I wasn't very keen on buying a front loader, but I'm very glad we bought this. It washes clothes very well and the 7kg capacity is great for a family. This is a great washing machine. It is really gentle on your clothes and has a lot of different types of cycles so no matter what you need to wash, it can do it. The… Read more

handwash and delicate cycles are gentle enough to was any clothes you would be worried about putting into a washing machine. The quick 30 wash is great when you need to wash a few things in a hurry. The time delay also comes in handy. It doesn't waste much water and is energy efficient. The washing machine can be very loud and shake a lot if you have it on the faster spin cycles.

Excellent – This has once again bolstered my confidence in LG - we have a number of items from them now. (What on earth does LG stand for - surely not "Life's good"?) Lovely stainless steel drum, easy-to-clean surfaces, and if I want to, I can iron straight out of the machine and set to air. 1000 rpm gets them just perfect for ironing, but I can also iron… Read more

them at 800 if I want to. I was already pleased with my previous washing machine, but this one just delights me - and has been so quiet and reliable ever since we got it - no problems. Length of wash, temperature of water, rpm of spin all easily adjustable. Good energy and water usage ratings.

Quiet and efficient. Will spin up to 1000 rpm but 800 is usually enough.

Any tissues lost in the water seem to find their way to the front and lodge in the rubber seal by the door, so are easily retrievable. Easily operated from the instructions on the front. White wash takes in water directly from hot system so uses solar heated water in my case. Lighted readout shows how long until wash is ready. Can do quick wash, prewash, hot wash, wool wash, rinse only, delicates, and so on. Well - it's rather heavy (as they all are, great slabs of concrete inside to keep them stable) so if we sell up and move I might be tempted to leave it for the new owner - but will I find such a good washing machine again?

Good – On the whole I've been pleased with this machine, it does a good job, uses very little water and is easy to program. I would recommend this. This is a quiet machine that washes heaps cleaner than my water-guzzling top loader did. Wash cycles are very long and you can't open the door to throw something else in once the cycle has started. (I think… Read more

that's standard in all front loaders though) It has a filter at the bottom of the machine that blocks up quite regularly and leaks until cleaned out. Towels do need conditioner to prevent roughness.

Terrible – Be warned this washing machine is rubbish! It was expensive and even when we tried to research a better wash outcome it was unsuccessful. BOUGHT IT BECAUSE IT WAS WATER SAVING Broke down several times. Completely broken after 5 years. I'm very angry. It was very expensive and did not wash the clothes very well - especially rinsing. Towels came out like sandpaper.
