Over 15 years of great service from this dishwasher before a few issues with the door and hinges. The the door handle broke (no doubt a tiny piece of plastic which eventually deteriorated) but I managed to keep using it for some time, then it wouldn't stay open on its own (some kind of hinge issue). Finally going to get rid of it even though it… Read more

still washes and dries perfectly. Really tempted to just replace the door, but might be difficult due to the age. Looking at getting another LG, hoping they're still this good.

9 years of flawless dishwashing – Hopefully the new models are as good as this discontinued one! I have had the LD 1403w since 2006 (now 2016) it it's been working flawlessly until a week ago when the main pump motor started to get loud. Replacement of the pump took me 30 mins and a new pump was less than $100. The dishwasher is quiet as a mouse again and looking at the rest of… Read more

I agree with the squealing noise in other reviews – My dishwasher is now 6 years old and has been fairly trouble free but it is the noisiest dishwasher we have ever owned. There is a high pitched squeal and a very noisy pump. It also leaves everything very wet regardless of rinse aid etc. I haven't had any problems with things not being clean but it is disappointing for an L … Read more

Worst dishwasher ever – The wash motor was replaced under warranty. It soon caused problems again and would only wash dishes on the longest cycle (2.5 hrs) and then I would need to rewash many of the dishes again. It was now out of warranty and as we would have to call a repairer from a long distance away, I didn't bother as the cost was more than it was worth. It… Read more

nearly lasted 4 years but I shouldn't have persisted. I have just got our latest electricity bill and it has dropped due to getting a new and better dishwasher. I would suggest that the LG Dishwasher used too little water to ever wash successfully. I have replaced it with one that uses more water, cheaper to purchase, quieter and it uses far less detergent and rinse aid and it is excellent. I have owned several dishwashers and this one was the worst ever. Would never buy anything LG again. Nothing at all! Never washed dishes clean, wash motor didn't work properly

Waste of money – We have issues with the water pump, was replaced under warranty the first time and was told that it was our water pressure. (There were no issues with the previous washer). We adjusted the water pressure and it broke again so we replaced it at our cost, it didn't even last a month. The machine now sits there useless. I wont be buying LG again. Water pump is faulty

Absolute lemon! – After a terrible experience with an LG DVD recorder I swore never to buy LG again, but the sales lady convinced me this was an excellent machine. The sales lady also told me that if it did turn out to be a lemon it would be replaced. Just after the manufacturers warranty expired I started having problems. The repair man has been here 4 times, and… Read more

I have reported yet another problem which the extended warranty people have failed to get back to me about. Other people have mentioned a high pitched noise, which seems to be the pump maybe? An OE error occurs indicating a kink in the hose, but there is no kink and the filter is clean... then it randomly starts working again. I have just lodged a complaint with consumer affairs. The fancy spray arm looked like it would clean well. Does not clean properly and constantly breaks down

I will never ever again buy another LG product – Bought one lemon LG Dishwasher and thought maybe it was just a lemon. Salesman convinced us to buy another. Nothing but continuous trouble until it was out of warranty. I would say over the last three years I have had it repaired at least 8 times. Every time I would have to handwash a dishwasher FULL of dishes at generally the most inconvenient time!! Never ever again!!!!! It went sometimes. It kept breaking down.

Absolute Rubbish – Had troubles after 3 months and they never stopped until now, and that's only because it's completely dead. Made heaps of squealing noise and that was due to the recirculation pump seal failing and dripping water onto the motor bearing, which rusted out. I have had to replace this twice so far in the few years that I have owned it. The… Read more

machine never dried the dishes unlike another brand I owned before this one. I have also had a plasma TV in for repair 4 times from LG, and my lesson is learned - I will never purchase another LG product again - ever!

After sales service an enquiries are a task at the best of times.

Noisy, prone to failure, poor service, poor function.

LEMON !!!! – Absolute rubbish. This is our second same model dishwasher from LG. We brought this model previously & hated it so much we replaced it after one year with a Dishlex. Never again – Dishwasher lasted around 6 years before completely dying. It had a horrible high-pitched squeal from day one. The third repair man who came to try and fix it said "oh, it's an LG, there is nothing I can do" - apparntly he had seen lots like it and it was just how it was designed ( despite the saleswoman at the Good Guys saying she had never… Read more

High pitched sound and leaks – Looks like high pitched sound is common on poorly assembled units. Also E1 fault led to a loud bang inside and a burning pcb smell and now it doesnt dry, and quess what...the warranty has just expired, so im gonna either try to fix it myself or pay some one to do it and proberbly pay 500 bucks for the pleasure which is half what i paid for… Read more

Excellent – I am very pleased with the dishwasher- after doing much research. It looks smart, operates quietly, has all the bonuses that you want in a dishwasher (child lock, adjustable top rack, timer to tell you how long is left) and most importantly our dishes have never been shinier. dishwasher next business day and beat the price of our local stores (free delivery too!). I wish we had bought it earlier, it saves so much time in washing up. I bought the W1 model. Big enough to fit lots of dishes. Bottom shelf- you can lay the tines flat to wash lots of pots and pans and other awkward items. Cutlery holder is at the front and divides in half for lighter loads. The cutlery basket actually has lids that flip back so you can either put items in one at a time (for special silverware) or just place them in as a bundle. Fairly quiet operation. The top shelf- some of the features get in the way. The knife rack has to be lifted to fit in cups, and not all cups fit under the knife rack. I took out the wine glass rack as we never use wine glasses- this gives us some more room for taller cups.

Good – We’ve had this dishwasher for about a month now, and like it. The dishwasher is easy to operate, there are enough programmes. I particularly like that most programmes have the option to add a 77 degree rinse – great if you have pots and pans in there which are greasy and need an extra hot rinse, or if you want to give things like children’s… Read more

drinking bottles an extra good clean. There’s also a childlock, and you can delay the start of a programme for up to 12 hours. The machine also offers a half-load option, and the upper rack is easily adjustable, which is great when you have tall glasses to wash.

I have noticed that even when you use the “all in one” tablets, which include a rinse aid, this machine still needs additional rinse aid. If you don’t, everything will still be wet when the cycle is finished. I have heard that white vinegar is an alternative to rinse aid, which I might try later on.

The lower racks of the dishwasher could have been designed better. The spaces for plates are quite narrow, so if you have oddly shaped plates, this might be a problem. There’s also not a really good place for dessert bowls.

What I do like about the lower rack is that they can all be clipped down, so you have a bit more room for pots and pans. Also, the racks in the upper compartment can all be removed too, so you can create more space there.

Overall, it’s a good dishwasher, and we got a good deal ($ 680 at the GoodGuys), with 2 year warranty from LG. washes well, quiet operation, sleek design, 77degree rinse needs rinse aid, lower rack could have been more efficiently designed

Terrible – What a lemon! I've had problems with this machine almost since the day I bought it. Within a few months it wasn't cleaning properly and as such required servicing. They replaced the 'blades' under warranty but still issues with the cleaning. The racks were also an issue with their cheap and poorly designed make. A number of the plastics rollers… Read more

that allow the racks to, in theory, slide in and out have broken. The top basket now hangs to one side and can only take limited weight.

I was skeptical about buying an LG dishwashers but the sales-person where I'd purchased assured me they were good quality (or course he did...that's his job). Lesson learned - I will never buy an LG dishwasher again. "Poor man pays twice". Looks good. Flimsy, cheap racks

Poor cleaning

Good – We've had this one about 9 months and so far we are happy with our choice of machine. Much better than our old FP brand washer. Quiet. Washes well. Maintenance free thus far. Good – The cuttlery basket requires each piece to be put in individually, which is very time consuming. Fortunately I kept my basket from my previous Fisher & Paykel machine and with some manouvering over the plate holders it fits. The other problem, the cuttlery basket was located at the back of the bottom shelf and difficult to access. I rearranged… Read more

the bottom shelf fittings and placed it at the front where it is accessible. The plate racks on the bottom shelf are moveable but sometimes collapse. Washes well and dries well with the exception of some plastic on the lower temp range. For the price it is good value. Extremely quite operation. Good capacity and the top shelf height is adjustable to take extra large size plates on the bottom shelf the cuttlery basket is badly designed. The ON button is frequently inadvertantly activated in a small kitchen, when you are working at the bench, it only requires very light pressure.

Good – Quite pleased with it, haven't had a dishwasher for 15 years so is nice to have one, makes for a neater kitchen. everything. Tried that and it does dry much better. Like others have taken out the knife rack and wine glass rack also the spaces on the cutlery baskets, too annoying. Only other thing is on the bottom rack there is a wire spacer inbetween the front and back tines and you can only put small plates in, as we use alot of large plates this is annoying and I still have to wash up or wait to do another load. Overall am pleased to have a dishwasher and this didn't cost much, so can replace down the track without feeling too ripped off! Its quiet, quick, looks good, chimes sound nice, holds a reasonable amount of dishes. Doesn't dry very well, rinse button is very loose and the door and bottom plate are not made well and don't fit properly.

Love the electronic controls, the time delay function and the clock that tells you how long the cycle has to go Fantastic cleaning, good layout Fold down tines sometimes fold down unexpectedly. People have complained in previous models that they don't dry the dishes - we find that if we use the 77deg rinse, the dishes dry really well (helps if you leave the door open for a few mins when the "end" chimes go off and the machine is still hot. We got a great deal purchasing through an independent store - $779, as opposed to $899 or higher at some other retailers. Looks good, great choice of programs - love that you can have 77 deg rinse on eco cycle. Very quiet. Nil detected to date
