The fix is straightfoward – To the people who have reported this portable HiFi as a dud. You are correct. But the poorly engineered design can be easily fixed (modified) by a tech or hobbyist with necessary skills & some knowledge of electronics. The fan in this unit is fine, it only turns on when volume is turned up high & fan speed varies with volume. The problem is… Read more
the STRX6759 on power board. The aluminium heatsink is too small to dissipate enough of the heat from the device. You will burn yourself touching it!! The STRX6759, whilst I can't find the datasheet on the component, it looks to be a voltage regulator with a thermal cut-out. When it gets too hot (probably after an hour) it cuts itself off to protect itself until it has cooled enough. Then you need to turn unit off & then on again to reset.
The fix is to add a larger heatsink or appropriate shaped sheet of metal to the back of the STRX6759. I did this modification to a neighbor's unit. It fixed the problem & he's happy.
Terrible – Rubbish LG just rubbish dumping. Where do you get off pushing underated product with hazards like these into the Australian market This LG product is junk. THe power supply is not properly design for long term use. It could be considered a hazard given the state of the power supply board. Just not good enough
Terrible – If you want a stereo that will spend more time in a service centre workshop than your own home, this is the one. Inferior counterfeit/underrated components means a very short life-span of this appliance. Expensive and potentially dangerous in the long run; avoid this model at all costs as it's not worth even bothering with, looks alone are not… Read more
enough; functionality is the key factor. I've possessed only 1 of these in the last few months and spent a lot of time effort and money on parts, only to have the blessed thing fail on me yet again. The PSU is poorly engineered and requires an extensive modification to prevent pyrotechnics and chain reactional failure; that means cost. A waste. This model should have been recalled, subject to further testing. Terrible. The MP3 3-disc changer is impressive, the coloured tone of the casing isn't too hideous to look at.. a budget priced twin cassette system with integrated digital FM/AM tuner and presets; when it works! (which isn't often) So many PCB design faults, underrated/undervalued components, particularly in the power supply (and possibly the amplifier stage), this has obviously not been soak-tested to maximum capability for our existing voltage/climatic/operational conditions; i.e., when the supply gets 'hot' the system will fail under load, (or develop a short circuit which can cause a chain reaction of damage to the rest of the unit including the above mentioned amplifier stage) making it not only unsafe to use, but could also render the entire device U/S. Unreliable sums it up.
Terrible – Like all LG Hi-Fi products I've dealt with; 1)Breaks down just out of warranty. 2)No spares available. 3)No service information available. 4)Calls to LG lead to financial services only; I repair most equipment for friends now and foolishly took on the LM-M1040A for a grand son. Finally - LG = throw-away-resources. The unit looks good. … Read more
Flashy like any other brand at the moment Built specificaly for robotic production with no service concideration allowed.
Terrible – LG should be ashamed of allowing people to purchase this product. It works for about 1 year, then breaks down, just out of warranty the first time in January 07, and LG were lovely enough to fix for me with no cost. But a year later, here I am with it not working again. It just won't turn on, same as last time. I refuse to pay the $180 approx… Read more
cost to get this product fixed. I will put the money towards another product. Makes me wish I had spent the $50.00 more to get a different brand, but who would have known for $350 you only get a years worth of listening!
Terrible LG, just TERRIBLE!! great mini hifi when it works doesn't work often enough
Bad – Plays for a while then turns off. Unplug it, put it in another power point, turn it on and it works for a while. Can't just tune on and off - has to be another power point - weird! Good sound when it works it often doesn't work!
