LG LST-5100P

Replacement Remote Needed for LG LST-5100P Set Top Box – Received second-hand, but remote control missing. Downloaded user manual from LG website. Even without remote, could use buttons on unit to scan for channels and control volume and channels. With VGA output + spare PC monitor + extension speakers, have set up second TV! Anyone know a universal remote that can be programmed for the LST-5100P? VGA output, good reception, easy to set up the channels, can still work without remote. Could not view menu (for channel scan) using AV output, needed to use YPrPb output to compatible TV or VGA output to PC monitor.

Good – Good STB , has its issues. Menu or guide or any on-screen menu/display dosen't appear when using Composite out. The VGA out is great! if you haven't got a TV and have a spare computer monitor somewhere CRT or LCD! , Use it in the kids bedroom with the old computer monitor! or plug directly into a video projector! ( Most need adapters! ) and the optical out is rare on most STB's so a pretty useful thing to have! VGA Out , DVI Out , Optical Out , Program Guide shows shows on every assoicated network e.g - if you press Guide on CH 7 it will also show you 7TWO , 7mate and 7HD , Simultaneous Component & Composite Out ( So you plug into PVR and TV and the same time! ) Onscreen Menu dosen't appear when using composite out ( Can be really annoying... ) , Subtitles are slow , No HDMI ( Can be changed with DVI - HDMI Adapter from Jaycar/Radioshack

Terrible – Over a period of 2 years it has frozen on me around 5 times. It froze again yesterday and now just turns itself off. Doesnt matter how many times i turn it off at the wall and back on, resetting it now does nothing. So all in all 2 years worth at 400+ dollars.....now in the garbage. It worked for 2 years Now it doesnt

Excellent – Overall this is a pretty solid unit that does everything you'd expect and nothing you wouldn't. The built quality is fine and it's relatively easy to configure. If you're in the market for a HD box, I'd recommend this one. Brilliant quality 1080i picture for my plasma. HD tv shows really look amazing, I was astounded when I first saw the clarity HD brings to television. No quality issues to mention so far. Having a non-integrated unit means another dreaded remote control to manage. Not enough shows in HD yet on free to air! It is a little tricky to get the mode right (720p/1080i etc)
