Absolutely brilliant oven! Does everything perfectly! – We ordered the installed model of the Solardom after using my daughter's benchtop model and finding it superb. We are delighted! This is the most amazing cooking device I've ever used. It's a fantastic microwave, plus it's a convection oven, grill, and steam oven, all in one. Cooks everything perfectly. Makes fantastic pizzas. Great oven baked chips. Everything I've cooked in it turned out perfect. Easy to clean. Easy and intuitive to operate. Energy efficient, easy to clean, intuitive to operate, cooks beautifully, looks good Expensive, and LG messed up with their model numbers resulting in a wrong initial order and surprise extra costs

Unfortunately, after a few months of use I found the metal tray coated with black gunk that is almost impossible to remove. Happened to my daughter as well. Checking reports on the web revealed other owners of Solardom are complaining about the same problem. It is a concern as there's no way of knowing what this gunk actually is so no way of knowing if there's a health risk from using this oven. LG need to respond to complaints about this. They should be investigating thoroughly.

Perfect kitchen oven - highly recommended!! – We bought this combination microwave/convection/grill oven after building a new house and wanted to replace the old microwave/convection oven we had for years. (Can't have old junk going into a new house) Anyway, my wife had always wanted one of the SolarDom ovens and the plan was that would go in the new house so we left a space in the kitchen to fit. After some research she found this one, except it's the built-in version plus it has a steamer. We happened to find the Harvey Norman Clearance store had one at a great price so of course we grabbed it.

In one sentence - my wife loves it! One of the first things she cooked was a lamb roast with potatoes - basically following the enclosed recipe book and it was fantastic. It does a mixture of microwave, convection and grilling to speed the cooking process. You'd think that this would either overcook, or dry-out the food but it does a great job. The grill function uses either the grilling element or the halogen light (solarDOM thingy!). Tried also a pizza from scratch and unlike most convection microwaves, it cooked a nice bottom crust as well as well as the toppings without leaving everything soggy. It has a bottom element as well as the top element and halogen light that gets used depending on the program. It's amazing when the halogen light comes on during the cooking program...it's like it's zapping the food!

There is a steam function as well. It's not a steam oven as such, but one of the accessories is a metal base plate thingy with a domed metallid. The idea is you fill the base with water, place the food on top of the sieve and cover with the metal dome. The steam function calculates cooking time on the type and quantity of food and that's it. The oven then uses the bottom element to heat the water to produce steam in the dome. Simple idea but again works really well, so great for vegies, Asian dumplings, fish, etc...

Look I wasn't really convinced we would need/use this oven, but it's great. You do need to read the manual to appreciate the many different functions. It's also a built-in model, so it can't sit on a benchtop. It's designed to sit in a standard 460mm high opening. I did have to make a small adjustment to the bottom of the front fascia as our opening was a couple of mm out, but it looks great in the kitchen now, and much better than other MW ovens that take up bench space. The door opens down which is also a good feature.

Highly recommended. Extremely versatile. Cooks extremely well, but you must familiarise yourself with the instructions. Very stylish addition to the kitchen but must be built-in.
