Worked only for 1 year- nobody able to service in our local area – Purchased the Robotic Vac VR502LVM. It worked for approximately 18mths and then wouldn't return to home base. Tried to get it serviced and was told I would have to send it to Perth. Tried to explain all I think was wrong was the battery. The service person told me I would have to send it to Perth. Have been unable to purchase the battery… Read more
until now (5 years later).
I refuse to purchase another LG product unless there is an efficient service department that is willing to assist with after sales of their products.
Scratches wooden floors – Be careful as these vacuum cleaners scratch wood floors. I have sent them emails about this and tried their online correspondence but they do not reply. If you love your wooden floors then don't buy an LG. Very disappointed about the product and very disappointed that they apparently refuse to correspond with me. Show details
Good while it lasted – I've had my Roboking for 4 years. I was pretty with it, I didn't have high expectations from it and used it as a secondary vacuum cleaner on my tiles and carpet flooring. It did an OK job as I turned it on and let it do its thing. I had it repaired once whilst still under warranty in its second year. Now it just stops all the time I think the… Read more
battery needs replacing, but considering the cost I won't be doing it. It's an expensive machine to only last 4 years but my family got a lot of fun watching it roam around the house.
I robot vacuum – I have to say this I robot vacuum cleaner is a terrible vacuum. Not wort for money. I used it once. I just want to get rid of it. Doesn't pick up much dust. Will make my house more dusty. Under this robot vacuum machine is full off dust. I hope everyone read my reviews before they purchase this I robot vacuum cleaner. This machine doesn't help you to clean up the house.
Loved it for over 18 months but now it has a few issues – First up a great unit quiet and picked up lots of dirt lint Etc even after the Dyson Run. But after 18 months the check wheels audible came on, I did notice the machine twist as it started it's run as if the wheel was dragging. Repalced the wheel unit I't quite nassembly not just a wheel. Anyway that fixed the wheel problem for a week. … Read more
Now it starts runs a meter and stops dead, Maybe it's the Battery, but it only charges for a few minutes and tell me charging complete, but then only runs for a few meters and does it all again.
Guess I will ring LG again see what they say about the Battery will also see if the 5 year replacement policy works if it's not the Battery.
Just a little worried if I buy a new Battery and it's only good for amother 18 months Plus the check wheel issue and the time they last wil be a costly machine to mantain Eg Battery $140.00 Wheel Unit $ 60.00 wondering if the unit is worth it.
quiet and quick – very quiet and fast than my last one. I can still work when it is working. like it. only problem is it does not have enough sensor, will hit legs a lot.
easy to use – I've had this machine now for nearly a year. It makes life easier that's for sure picks up my cat and dog hair during the week but I still have to vacuum. It gets stuck all the time on my chairs and goes flat too quickly I have to go looking for it everytime to put it back on its charger. It also seems to have a mind of its own I think mine needs… Read more
a reboot . Any suggestions on how to do this? as I doesn't always obey the controller I've used the reset button a few times very handy to have short battery, expensive, gets stuck on the smallest rise, doesnt try to unlodge itself very well
Life changing! – Both myself and my husband agree this product is brilliant! No more hassles over vacuum cleaning the house! We run it every second day, and after the initial puzzlement from our dog all are thrilled! Being a musician noise levels are also important and It's also very quiet! I would thoroughly recomend this product to anyone that hates vacuuming… Read more
like I do! Turn it on and off it goes! I had to check the curtain lengths, remove one small rug with large tassels on it and make sure cables were securely off the floors otherwise it got stuck!
Life Changing Product!!! – Am in love with this robotic vacuum cleaner Smart, Time Saving and it works!!!
Simply Fantastic – We spent a long time asking people and researching robot vacs. The LG seemed the one that everyone compared theirs too. We have hard wood floors with a couple of Shag Rugs. It has no problems in getting up and down off the rugs, in fact they have never looked better or cleaner. In fact the floors are always clean and dust free now. We turn it on… Read more · 1
when we go to bed and awake to a clean house! The only place it has been stuck is behind the bathroom door, so we now keep it shut. Simple to use, Very very quiet running, Battery runs out 1/2 way through cleaning but it just goes back to base to recharge and then resumes where it left off.
Hard floors and pets: well worth the money – I own six cats and one 30kg bull breed mix dog. I'm in a 4-bed house with tile floors in all communal spaces and wet areas, and carpet in the bedrooms. I've owned the LG Roboking for a year now, having bought it around Christmas 2011. I absolutely love this machine. We run ours 3-4 times a day around the tiled areas, and about twice a week we… Read more · 2
shut it in the bedrooms after picking anything up off the floor and let it run the carpet. We have no rugs in our house (used to have a thick rug and it had difficulty getting up on that, but would approach it from angles to manage it).
It is fantastic at keeping down the pet hair. No more whirly dust-bunnies of cat hair for us!
You do still need to vacuum properly to get into corners, under furniture and sort out the sofa cushions, and we do that whenever we feel the house needs it. The point is that with the number of pets we have, the Roboking saves us a massive amount of work.
I also have asthma and hayfever, and yes I'm allergic to my pets. The Roboking has a huge impact on the amount of pet dander and hair in the house and most definitely helps with my allergies - fact is I wouldn't bother vacuuming three times a day myself, but I can have it done by just pressing a button.
There are a couple of cons to this machine but after a year of ownership we got around them.
It can take a few goes to find a spot for the base station where the Roboking will reliably find its way home to recharge. We ended up with ours along the wall in the hall and it finds its way back much more easily than when we had the recommended clearance at the front of the base station.
The whirling feeder brushes have a limited lifespan. You get two on the machine and two spares - I've just ordered four more after one year from LG, at a cost of just under $14 apiece. Again we use our machine a lot, but the brushes could be more robust.
The Roboking will get tangled in shoelaces and such like, and beware loose pile bathroom mats - the twirling brushes can twist and entangle themselves in the mat and it takes some untangling. Just be a bit organised and pick up easily tangled items when you put the cleaner in those rooms.
There may be one piece of furniture in your house where the Roboking gets stuck every time it's in that area. We learned it's quite easy to form a makeshift wall so the machine doesn't keep doing it. (For instance, a short piece of timber under a particular TV cabinet that it'd fit under and then get jammed.)
The cats were interested in it for about one day. Now they amble out of its way at a leisurely pace. The dog isn't a huge fan and gets out of the way promptly - I think he finds its determined approach a bit challenging. Labour saving device, reduces pet hair, good for my allergies. The spinning brushes are quite expensive to replace and lasted one year with heavy use.
Pretty Good little cleaner.. for timber and tiles – Bought this from my friend. It was used for one year. First thing I did was cleaning and some service of machine by myself. Very easy to empty bin and remove hairs from the side turning legs. You can simply use screw driver to remove and get rid of hairs. Then I run him around our house. It is mainly timber floor but carpet in rooms. Not… Read more
the best for carpet I found. Not strong enough power I guess.
But on timber floor, it works well. Also I attached little fabric(included) at the back of the machine.
It is doing quite good job.
I am not sure it is really mapping our floor but it goes everywhere somehow and did his job.
Often bang to chair legs or my foot and keep pushing but back off quite soon.
Once it is done, it will search for the charging station. 7 out of 10 success.
Battery life is not too bad to cover ordinary family house. Easy to maintain, Good cleaning for timber floor, easy to use Not very impressive in carpet floor. Not cheap, often rush to chair legs or foot.
Keeps my floors spotless with next to no effort – Having owned my red roboking for 2 months, I have been using it every day and it has made my life so much more easier freeing up alot of time. Floorcare has never been simplier. First thing I noticed is this bot likes to voice most things from starting a clean to returning to base to getting stuck. Its a pleasant female voice. I loved mine so… Read more
much I ended up getting one for mothers day - which is a newer improved 6170 model.
Navigation & Performance:
It does a admirable job navigating my 4 bedroom house.
Ive had to clear up some clutter to make it robot friendly (namely tucking away things that could get caught in the rotating brush like phone charger cables etc and I have a coffee table that is exactly the right height for it to get wedged under, fixed with some furniture savers.)
I normally use zigzag mode, which is the fastest and most efficent vacuuming mode-basically it does back and forth lines as though its mowing the lawn and it leaves my carpets looking like a pro footy field before a game.
The pickup rate on both carpet and tile is very good surprisingly, as I didnt know what to expect from such a quiet robot. Carpets are always fresh and theres no longer things sticking to my feet walking on the tile. Edging on my tiles are always spotless.
My flooring is tile in all areas except in the bedrooms which is carpet.
My only two complaints here is that it has trouble with raised surfaces over 1cm, which is quite low, and entry to the main bathroom is about 1.5-2cm. This may be a good thing though as I dont want it to frequent areas which may have puddles of water. I could permanently fix this with a piece of wood layed out on the entry to space out the height but prefer to simply take the roboking in there myself and lock it in for a clean.
I also have a rug in the living room, which is pretty much a piece of standard carpet, and it often has trouble mounting it. However, when it does eventually get onto it, usually from a different side, it will always vacuum everywhere and not miss a spot.
The other complaint is my tiles are black, and it has trouble dismounting my rug onto it, i believe it detects it as a drop off, but again, when it does eventually get onto the tile it vacuums everywhere and not miss a spot.
It has difficultly seeing some of the thinner objects like chair and table legs, and often bang right into it, back away tiny bit (sometimes spin around to get a better picture), and work around it and continue its line. I noticed that when it approaches at the right angle itll see it.
During runs it may get things caught up in its brush or get stuck, and itll play a error melody with "please check the wheels" or "please check the brush"
Docking is usually faultless, at times where the mapping system works right it heads straight to it from opposite side of house without as much as a blink, and other times after getting lost during a run itll follow a wall around the house til it gets there. I have the dock in 1 side of the house and often itll be the latter with clutter and runs out of juice trying to make it back. If i positioned the dock in the middle of the house somewhere it should never have any more problems. (but i like it better where it is in the lounge :P)
Maintenance:
It comes with a hepa10 filtration and theres also a spare in the box) and i noticed since the two months that i bought it my chronic morning cough has subdued to something more mild. If theres daily vacuuming it can be really good for you and others. Its easily detachable from the dustbin along with a spongefoam prefilter.
The dustbin is really easy to lift out and doesnt spill, and emptying is a breeze.
Once a week ill feel like i should clean the brush out, there is a long haired person in the house and her hair does end up getting wund around the brushes. Although i think i could go for 2-3 weeks without cleaning it easily.
Cleaning the sensors about once a month involves wiping down with a microfibre cloth and a dust off with the included tiny brush. Hepa filter, systematic navigation, li ion batteries, side sweeping, local service and support Expensive, difficulty climbing rugs, could have better suction. Bangs into chair legs too often,

Life Changing! – We bought this after a friend raved about hers for keeping pet hair manageable on a day-to-day basis. We don't have pets but a large large indoor tiled area that despite regular cleaning gets dirt and grit from floor traffic which isn't too bothersome, but you can really tell when the floor is recently cleaned. I had read lots of reviews about… Read more
this product which concluded that it doesn't replace a full clean, but makes a day-to-day difference.
I would definitely agree with this. It doesn't match the ability or power of a full vacuum, but I don't think it's designed to. You can switch this on as you leave the house or as you go to bed and it cleans to what is actually a very impressive level given the size of the little bin inside. I found it picked up lots of different dross, there was nothing in particular that stumped this machine, although we don't have any soft furnishings on the tiles. It managed the carpeted areas well too. We are on one level but it has an inbuilt suicide watch thing to stop it from dropping off stairs etc. The pros for this is that it is good at what it does and it is quiet.
The only troubles/cons were that it had trouble finding the home station some of the time, and it shuts itself down if it can't find the station after a good long look. It's a matter of picking it up and putting it back in the home station, it recharges itself and then goes back out to pick up where it left off. The other thing was that it needs a few cycles of clean-home-clean to finish the area we have, but it's no effort on my part so no matter. Headphones were the only major issue when the cord got tied up in the wheels.
Overall, for the price it's a great investment - between this and my handheld dyson, we are rarely rarely cleaning on the full scale we were before. It doesn't replace the full clean, but it really does make a day-to-day difference and if it broke tomorrow I would replace it in a heartbeat.
Not a bad robot cleaner! – Pros The noise level or lack of it is crazy! It is the first thing you will notice you can watch TV while it works :) Removes dust easily in both carpets, tiles and floorboards. The air filter HEPA is also plus. Dust canister is also very easy to remove The negatives It will struggle to pick up heavier particles and trouble finding… Read more
