Quiet and effective – Quiet and effective. Hardly any wear on the clothes--especially when compared to a top loader. Think we've had it well over 10 years. Only issue is the lack of a separate spin cycle. Can only do rinse and spin but we manage. Its listed as 7Kg but only 4.5 when combining wash AND Dry

Washer & Dryer when you don't have the space – The washing machine has been quiet and somewhat reliable for 8+ years. It survived quite a few power surges in my old apartment when I first bought it and now still running in my house. The only problem that I'm experiencing now is a faulty door sensor. It works if I leave the door closed for a short period of time though. Quiet, space saving especially when you don't have room for another stand alone dryer. Faulty door sensor. Long time to dry the clothes.

Terrible – I would have thought about purchasing another LG product if their service centre actually realised that this particular machine shouldn't have broken down so many times and they may have waived a few service calls ($125) but since they really don't care at all, i doubt I will ever buy another LG product. Easy to operate Reasonably quiet. I will never buy another LG washing machine.

Dry cycle too long and doesn't do 3 large towels.

It is only 5 years old and so far have had servicemen out 3 times.

At $125 for LG service man to come out plus parts it's quite an expensive piece of crap.

Now the start button is not working, which I guess the computer board will need to be replaced ($$$) the water pump sounds like a plane landing, so need a new one and door sensor not working properly (replaced just over 12 months ago, another $70)

Terrible terrible washing machine – This is a terrible washing machine I have to manually drain it every 4-10 washes, have had someone look at it and found no blockage and dryer stooped working a year ago. The dryer was never good, took too long and door stayed locked for hours unless you switched off and on again. Would expect it to last longer than 5 years and be able to do a spin cycle properly. I will nevr buy LG again, they are cheap for a reason - they don't last. Only going to buy miele - when we save for it.

Not reliable doesn't always spin, dryer not good

OK – I had no trouble whatsoever with the machine until recently (only 5 yrs old). It started making a terrible noise when spinning, turns out it will cost $620 to fix!! LG couldn't care less as it's out of warranty. But 5 yrs is not old, i would have thought it should last at least 8-10. If i'd have known, at the time of purchase, i would have spent a few hundred $s more and bought a Miele or Kleenmaid. We have purchased Lg products before and had no problem, but i have to say, i'll not purchase from them again, for fear of this happening again. Good looking machine, and extremely quiet. Spin speed goes as fast as 1600 rpm, which is great. Has several wash programmes but i nearly always use fast wash (30 mins). It's easy to understand and operate. This machine has a built in tumble dryer, which is absolutely useless, it takes so long to dry anything, at least 60 minutes, and the door remains locked for hours afterwards, so by the time you get your washing out, it's very creased.

Hi there, I have had a WD-1412RD for 8 years now and it's never needed service, the only issue is the outlet hose has developed a hole from friction (faulty installation though not LG's fault). Sounds as though you've had a bad experience and it's interesting that a lot of the poor reviews are due to expensive service not the machine itself. I think your review is pretty balanced, I'm commenting because I've seen a number of other people mentioning thjust wanted to mention re the long cool down - it's meant as a safety feature, kind of a child lock, but there is a way to unlock the machine if you need to (p 21 of the manual). The drying time can be minimised by using the fast spin to remove as much moisture as possible before drying, but I think. A longer drying time is a given for condenser-type driers, but for us (apartment dwellers with an internal laundry that is basically a small cupboard under the water heater) it was certainly outweighed by the compact design, features and easy installation (not needing ducting etc) of this model.

if you have a front loader you have to watch out how much clothes you put into it. front loaders dont take as much of abuse as top loaders. the bearings will wear out much faster if you overload it occasionally
