very disappointed with this item – Hi everyone I decided to let you know about my very frustrating own experience with this product ! linen filter regularly and washing machine was stil faulty. We put up with that for a significant time and now cycle button stop working and need replacement of digital board ??? well out of warranty the quote is about $260 to fix ! I am posting this review for anyone who is thinking about purchase this specific washing machine .From my own experience this product doesnt deserve to be priced as high as it is and I wouldn't call it reliable and time saving and certainly I believe that for the sale price that should last longer then it did in my case !

Long Washes. Does get rid of smells well – We have had this machine for over 3 years now. The timer lies, with washes taking much longer than the estimate. Typically over 3 hours making it hard to complete a wash for a large family. I don't think the machines washes very well. It is too conservative with water use and often doesn't get rid of strong odors. Another issue is unbalanced… Read more

spins. I think it tries to rearrange the load, but it never succeeds.

Overall, a very average machine.

I've repaired it myslef twice. Once to replace the door seal (our fault as there was a tool that escaped out of a pocket). The second time was stripping down the wash pump as it was very noisy.

Excellent so far – We're a 4 person household and bought this 4 years ago (with 3 year extended warranty from TGG), on the basis of Choice's recommendation and product reviews. I've had no regrets with this workhorse. Love the fact that I can change any of the settings to suit my needs: temperature; wash time; spin speed; intensive y/n; pre-wash y/n; and… Read more

pause/start if I forgot anything. Safety/child lock features are great, too if you have little ones that like to press buttons. I don't mind the fact that the normal cotton cycle (my default) takes 2.5 hours and the cotton quick cycle 1.5 hours. I just set it at night to finish at 7am (when electricity is cheaper anyway) and hang the washing out then. I love how I have never had to hand wash a thing since. It doesn't vibrate when spinning; it's supremely quiet; and I can stuff in plenty of bed linen. When I've checked the lint filter, I've never found it dirty enough to warrant washing. I agree that the rubber seal gets some scum build-up that needs to be wiped with a cloth, or clothing can get marked when removed through the door, but I think any machine needs some maintaining. I don't know if it helps but I prefer to leave the door open when not in use.

Wouldnt buy this machine if given a second chance – So glad we got an extended 3 year warranty on top of the 2 year manufacturer warranty. Purchased this machine 3.5 years ago and have just had to call the extended warranty for a SECOND time to get the machine repaired! It's really hard to keep the rubber door seal clean and try as I might I just cant get into some of the nooks and crannies meaning that mould builds up there.

I wont be purchasing an LG washing machine again. It can take big loads Breaks down too often, too hard to clean, cycles take too long

Major drive failure when less than 3 years old – We bought this machine because of the good reviews here and from Choice. We were also attracted by the 2 year warranty on the machine and the 10 year warranty on the drive. When new, it performed well and was nice and quiet. The menus had plenty of options and the machine could be stopped and opened part-way through many cycles We are a… Read more

2-person household.

Some of the features were less capable than the should have been: The wool-wash cycle causes jumpers to matt and the "gentle" cycle is not very gentle. While the machine has connections for hot and cold water, hot water is only used for washing at 60°C or higher. Washing at 40° loads cold water, not a mix, and then heats the cold water using on-peak electricity, which is not energy efficient. Towels from the machine dry to a very hard and scratchy feel - other front-loaders do this as well.

As time went by it because a bit less quiet but no bad reports until at 34 months old the drive failed for the drum. It turned out to be a failure of the "rotor". The plastic centre hub spline had stripped out where rotor attached to the main drive spindle. Replacement cost $177 parts and labour. The serviceman had one in his truck which suggests that this is a reasonably common failure. Quite frankly, this level of failure should not happen at this age

LG declined my request for a refund the cost of the repair. Decent washer when new Broke down under 3 years old

Great machine – This machine is really easy to use, compact and uses much less water than my old one. I love that is has a cycle as short as 30 minutes and can be interuppted to put in the extra kids clothes you find when you walk out of the laundry! I would definitely have this machine again. Easy to programme, you can open the door mid cycle!!! And it has a really short cycle if you need (all the reasons I would never have bought a front loader in the past)

internal leak and a constant error message. We also suspect that the bearings are shot as on last use it sounded like the machine was full of marbles. Fortunately, we did purchase an extended warranty, although I did not expect to have to use it when the machine was only 2 years old ! We have also been waiting for the parts for several weeks. Without the extended warranty we would have had to replace the machine as the repairs needed are so extensive. Great wash, quite operation, looks good, timer feature very useful, good variety of cycles. Simply did not last, needs major repairs after only 2 years.

Dirty brown marks on my washing – Purchased LG WD14030D after reading a Choice article. I use the self cleaning cycle every week with bicarb. I wipe the rubbers down after every 2 - 3 loads. quarter scoop of detergent (omo) and most cycles are the long cotton wash (therefore not a cold wash). But unfortunately I still have issues with big ugly brown marks on my clothes. The machine was taken away and bearings were replaced because the technician thought some of the marks may be from an oil leak but still have problems. Once I have cleaned it it is fine for about 3 or 4 loads then the marks appear. I think the issue is a result of poorly designed rubber seals which are difficult to clean under, and accumulate "stuff" very quickly. I have used front loader machines for about 17years and have never had a problem like this before. I have rung LG several times, they are sending out a different sample of descaler (apparently this may work!!!!!!). I would definitely recommend a front loader, just not this one. the delay start is great. Put it on at night and washing ready to hang out when I get up in the morning, also takes advantage of night electricity rates. cleaning the rubber seals

quite as good in some areas is better than our old top loader.

It is not quite a good at producing soft fluffy towels and we used vinegar as a softener and now reverted to softener. The fast wash is what we use most of the time so it does a load in about a half an hour and it goes all day Saturday.

The clothes cleanliness is great and the ironing has largely disappeared.

It is so quiet that we had to go and check that it working. It has danced across the floor once during the spin cycle - we did have two queen size bed woolen blankets in it though - won't do that again.

There have been no maintenance issues thus far (owned for 6 months) Quiet, quick and it works. Have to get used to loading and unloading so low down to the floor.

2nd review on this product by me – Ive had this washer for 2 years now. Still love its features and quietness. I had an issue last week- it started making a groaning noise. Lucky fo me I checked the warranty and we were 18 days left in warranty. I called the warranty hotline (open 7-7) and they took my details. they then had an authorised service repair centre contact me the next… Read more

business day and arrange a time to come out.

Repairman came out and ran a test cysle (to hear noise)- he asked if it was in warranty. as soon as i mentioned yes, he said it soundls like one of the 2 pumps inside, so he would just replace both to be sure. Which he did. He replaced both pumps inside and no noise now. YAY.He was here a whole hour maybe and cleaned up after himself with the mop!

LG customer service was great. So was Metro Appliance centre in Adelaide.

I have witnessed these Brown marks on clothes too. It is just build up under and around the seals. A god clean with a toothbrush under and around the rims solves it. But you must keep on top of it and clean it regularly.

Had a small amount of mould form in the seal at the bottom where the water sits. (this was because womeone did washing and left it in there sealed for 2 days without me noticing) Spray of Exit mould and a scrub with a toothbrush got rid of it.

I never use any other cycle except cotton or cotton quick for our general clothes. I have used quick 30 wash for small "white" loads without issue. However the quick 30 doesnt spin the clothes as dry as the cotton washes.

I like the coin and lint catcher tray at the bottom. i've found plenty of coins in there.

Still reccommend this washer and will def buy another one if this one dies. (still got 8 yrs warranty left on my DD motor though) relaible and quiet water pump died just inside warranty- lucky they repaired it and at no cost.

I find my baby's socks get stuck a bit in the rubber ring when it goes to the drying cycle after washing but thats a minor issue. washes really well, water and eletricity consumption using the washing machine side is great, can set the wash cycle to dry straight after the washing is finished without having to got back to the washing machine, its very quiet, it looks after its self by telling you if the load is too uneven and unbalances the whole machine - It literally stops washing for you to correct the load! the dryer does use a lot of power,a dn ours is now 13 months old and I am waiting for someone to come and take it away to get fixed as the heater component is already on its way out. The RR Service person told he seen the exact same machine late last year and the heater component went on it but the lady kept using it and melted the whole front of the machine dial area! Pimp my Laundry – I have had good experiences with LG front loads and this was no exception, it has all the bells and whistles and does a great wash. The red colour was pleasing to the eye as it is popular in electrical products at present. The machine wash cycle and 1800 spin is ultra quiet, I hardly notice it in a small home. Love overall style, sound of buttons, It's very quiet also, a good bonus for a large machine.

dial still controls the spin time.

- To wash without a rinse cycle, turn on. Select the cycle of choice with the Program Cycle knob. Press the Rinse button 5 times, which deselects rinse. Then press Start/Stop. To combine that with no spin, turn the Spin Speed dial to the extreme left position before pressing Start/Stop. Decent washing and excellent spin performance. Quiet - although the pump has become more noisy over 3 months. Lots of options. Very limited manual. Does not describe all the options for operating the machine. May use too much cold water which is then heated with primary electricity.

cheaper ones are make in Thailand (like the one I had). I don't think I will need to worry about replacing this washer, and because I rent I don't have to lug along 2 separate machines when I move which is a relief. Highly recommend! The size of the door makes it easy to load. Big capacity as well, especially since I'm using it just for 1 person. The quick washing options are great as well. Also 10yr warranty on motor is great. I don't use the dryer function I always use the separate dryer because it's quicker. Also the washer makes a little jingle when the cycle has finished which is excellent because I'm the type to always forget. It's great too that it has the countdown function so you always know how long a cycle (some cycles) is going to take before pressing ahead. It doesn't give you this prewarning with all the cycles because I think it spins the load a few times to see how heavy it is before doing so. Drying function takes a longggg time. It's more cheaper to use the separate one. Plus the clothes don't come out exactly dry, more moist and that makes me feel like washing it again.

strong points include;

1. Large capacity - easily able to handle an entire bed sheet & quilt set, plus a few extras

2. Very good wash results - although anyone new to a front loader will likely see an improvement in cleaning from a top loader, this unit delivers consistently good results even on clothes that you might expect won't lose a particularly strong stain/mark. We use white & colored cloth nappies when possible and the cleanliness of these after a hot wash is impressive - almost like new.

3. Quiet spin cycle - able to start cycle at bed time without any concern at being woken after midnight

4. Good Short cycle performance - 30min for lightly soiled clothes delivers good results Not many;

1. Wash cycle is quite long - 2+ hrs for most programs (must be said however that superior results will always require a longer wash cycle)

2. Manual a bit lacking in details (although does cover the basics required for normal operation)
