Front loaders are over-rated – Bought this machine on the recommendation of "Choice" magazine but, after nearly a year and a half, I've got to say that I wouldn't bother with a front loader again (this is my first foray into the world of front loading washing machines). For the 'extra' cleanliness that they supposedly provide, they are just not worth the hassle. Yes, the… Read more

machine cleans well but, in all honesty, I can't see that it cleans any better than my previous top loader (also recommended by Choice at the time). It certainly isn't mind-blowingly better in terms of cleaning. They say it uses less water - I can't tell. The hammering in the water pipes is annoying, but you get used to it. But what really annoyed me is that just under a year into the life of the machine, it started leaking. At first I thought I must have spilled water at some stage, but it kept happening and the result was that the plinth that I bought at the same time as the machine is wrecked and unusable now. (The plinth was so that I didn't have to bend down to load the machine). I contacted LG, firstly, to repair the machine which they did, under warranty and, secondly, to ask them to replace the plinth as it was made unserviceable as a direct result of their faulty product. That was in February and now it's May and I'm still waiting for a response, in spite of two 'phone calls and two emails, and one acknowledgement email from them. Not happy with LG. As I said, the machine itself cleans satisfactorily but, honestly, I can't say that it is any better than any top loader I have ever had. Will certainly be switching back to a top loader next time - at least gravity works WITH you when you are filling the machine, as opposed to having to hold the clothes in there while you're putting more in! Customer service/follow up definitely needs improving. UPDATE: LG did pay for a replacement plinth. Thanks, LG.

Got a faulty one on delivery and fight to get replacement – We bought this last year as we left the old one behind in the place we rented. When we first got the unit it didn't seem to be hot washing. Called LG which wanted to charge a $150 call out just to look at the new machine so I called Harvey Normans and had to argue it was faulty. Finally someone came out and agreed the heating element was not… Read more

Disappointed with Product and Customer Support – Manufacturing Defect Ignored I’m very disappointed with this washing machine due to a persistent water leak near the inlet. I initially assumed it was a hose issue, so I replaced the hoses and followed every troubleshooting step available. Despite these efforts, the leak continued. Upon closer… Read more

inspection, I noticed signs of corrosion inside the machine, indicating that this issue had likely been ongoing for some time. I contacted customer support and provided detailed photos. The representative's response was surprisingly indifferent — a simple “oh, ok” — which gave me the impression that this is a known issue.

After that call, I heard nothing for over a week. When I followed up, I was abruptly referred to a repair center with no further assistance or acknowledgment that this may be a manufacturing fault rather than normal wear and tear.

I understand appliances undergo wear over time, but a leak at the inlet that leads to internal corrosion points to a design or manufacturing defect, not user error. The lack of proactive support and accountability from the company has been frustrating.

I expected better quality and service for a product in this price range. I can’t recommend this machine or the brand based on my experience.

Great options – Bought this washer not long ago, very stylish design. Cleans my clothes well and gets rid of most stains without pre soaking. Cycles are quite long and gentle so it doesn't wear out my clothes. I love how it how many different options and settings on how you would like your clothes washed, also has custom settings to really customize your wash.  Show details

Great Buy - quiet, efficient washing machine with great capacity – Bough my first LG product ever with this washing machine so impressed I bought the matching Drier and a microwave. Previously had Miele. These machines are innovative, quiet and do what they are supposed to without any fuss or bother. With my laundry door closed I can't hear them both running as I did previously. Well done LG (also love my microwave)  Show details

Second lg frond loader – I’m once again really happy with my LG washer. The last one I had for more than 10 years and was still going strong only upgraded when I built a new home. It washes really well and is not rough on my clothes. Everything comes out clean and it’s easy to use. LG washers are great!  Show details

I can handwash better! – Ive had my machine 18 months and hate it. My husband and son work in dirty industries and this machine washes their clothes so badly I can get them straight out of the machine after a 3.5 hour stain care cycle and still rinse dirt out of them and then further handwash them and get them cleaner. LG have addressed my concerns with conflicting advice… Read more

on how to clean my tub (a fortnightly tub clean cycle required even though their manual says this is optional) right down to having to buy a special HE detergent required because of the low water volume used (also not mentioned in their manual). They also suggested I pre soak the clothes? My 13 year old Westinghouse which the LG replaced was a far better machine with only a 2.5 hour cycle and I never had to pamper to it. I will be offloading it as soon as the warranty is up, what I lose on the machine will be cheaper than the volume of stained dirty clothes that I will be throwing out. And yes my water pipes bang too and they had a dampener on them already.

Beware Get extended warranty – Had it for 2 years. Had rubber inside door changed after 12 months. Rubber tearing again. Luckily purchased extended warranty. Sometimes machine dances and walks a little. Friend says the bearings are probably done. He got rid of his as bearings faulted after two years. His FP TL.. I like better...  Show details

Lg does not cover warranty on 9 month old washing machine – This machine has troubles washing a single kids mattress protector. This machine is very family unfriendly. Also it makes your plumbing pipes behind the walls noisy banging and knocking. Told by sales man i can buy a product from bunnings to stop this. Why does a product over $900 to thousand doesn't come with this. I've had other washing machines… Read more

and never had any issues. Also the machine has only lasted 9 months and has chewed up the inside door rubber. LG has refused to cover this under warrenty, and has told me it was from misuse of there product. In turn i told them i have used there product by per the instructions supplied by them. I have a family of 4, I've used there washing machine for washing clothes and not bricks or building supplys. I've had over the phone quotes $280 and more. It took more then 2 weeks for lg to tell me they were not going to cover the cost and they could supply a contact numbers for repairs but will not cover it. Thanks lg a family of 4 needs to come up with more money for a new machine. Because I'm not spending our money to repair a machine that cant even last 9 months. What a joke, do not buy any product from lg. You have been warned. I read reviews on this product and found only a couple of bad reviews. I didn't listen thinking only a couple. Boy did I learn the hard way. Thanks lg for nothing but hardache and remember with no customers you have no business.

It’s great quality – A good washing machine for one person or small family. I normally use the mix function which wash clothes for 90 minutes. But it has speed function which only take 14 min, but doesn’t rinse and dry really well. Front load consumes less water compared to the top loaded washing machines. It is relevantly quiet but sometimes it does move around when spin the clothes. It also has 10 years warranty.  Show details

Good but noisy – Cleans and rinses well, a word of warning if your pipes suffer from water hammer I would not recommend this model. When it dispenses water it does it in short bursts which would be very annoying. The spin feature also tends to make the machine skip abit. Lots of features in terms of washing but I only use the one really.  Show details

Very disappointed – It was only after buying the machine and reading the warranty that we learnt that we could not place it on a pedestal (no warranty), nowhere was this mentioned on LG's web site. May 5th 2018 Update: I wish I had bought some else

So far it's perfect – I compared with Bosch series 8 but ended up getting this machine. I do not regret. It doesn't damage garment and very quite. two to four people. quick mode is 14min, just one thing that I want to change is quick mode water is set 20 degree. I have been tried to use all different features and it works very well. my favourite feature is mix. amazingly, it cleans well, but also keep the garment nice. I also try to use detergent with exact amount. Just before you rinse and drain, it makes some noise but it is only one time and not an issue to me at all. So far, I am very happy to decide to get this model.

Great washing machine for the family – After years of my old washing machine it decided to finally die. It hasn't let us down since we purchased it and plays a nice little tune once its finished. Love it  Show details

Lg customer service not worth the issues – The machine itself when working is fantastic. But 8 months later and mine now doesn’t drain water. Great machine – I am so happy with this purchase....Got it at Good Guys with a cash back deal so it was a little cheaper than other stores. be rectified by placing a rubber mat under the machine...I love that you can pause the machine to open the door and throw in that sock I just found...it has so many wash cycles I am still getting used to them . The only downfall is that a lot of the cycles are very long but there is also a turbo function you can use to cut down the cycle and if you choose a lighter spin speed that also shortens it. There is also a 14 min wash cycle which is great for things that really just need to be freshened. I also love the high speed spin because the things come out almost drey. Can't fault it apart from the long washes.

LG Quality – Cleans like I expect a washing machine to clean. Have had no noticeable issues with the quality of clean. Can be a little loud on the highest spin setting. Love It – This is the second LG washing machine I've used and while it's quick cycle is limited to smaller loads, so probably not effective for a bigger family, it works perfectly for my partner and I. I like the customizable nature of the cycles. I have always found this machine very quiet and it washes very effectively. As with most washing machines, smaller loads do wash better. Would definitely recommend.  Show details

Wish I hadn't bought it – With the exception of the 14min quick wash, all the cycles take 1.5hrs plus. The quick wash is limited to 2kg and doesn't wash very well, because it's so quick. The older model had a 30min cycle, but apparently even that had a limited capacity as well. You can manually adjust the time up, but not down. Also, on many cycles, the spin speed is… Read more

lowered. And once again you can manually decrease the spin speed but you can't increase it. Also, many of the programs have limited capacities (it weighs the load).

The programmers have tried to be too clever and the result is you are going to be spending an entire day trying to do 3 loads of washing and the last one is not likely to dry. And thanks to the weighing and limiting function it averages out at about a 4kg washing machine. So it's not an 8kg machine with a 1400rpm speed at all. It's useless and frustrating, especially when you consider cheaper models are not as restricting. I would take a refund in a heartbeat.

All I wanted was an 8kg machine that washed for about 45min (30min if I was in a hurry) and spun to 1400rpm. Instead I got something that sucks the life out of me.

Let down by excessive vibration when spinning – This is our third front loader, so we have some idea of what to expect. The washing and rinsing is the best of the 3 front loaders owned, rated efficiency is very good BUT when spinning the vibration and subsequent movement of the machine across the floor is a real concern and obviously cannot go unaddressed. It does not make a great difference… Read more

as to what type of load is being washed AND yes the machine had been levelled carefully and of course the transport bolts were removed prior to operation.

When spinning it seems as though the outer drum is actually pushing against the sides and this leads to the vibration and movement on the floor.

This machine is slightly larger than the previous machines and so should cope even better with similar loads but neither of the older front loaders ever moved on the same floor surface during their service lives - about 20 years combined.

I am now considering either requesting LG to investigate or trying anti-slip floor tape or on the other hand the same rubber material often used under AC outdoor units - but I shouldn't have to as this has never been required previously.

Great wash, rinse and spin but 9 watts when not in use! Mad – We have had this washer a few months now and it does a really good job. Rinse is great and the fast spin really squeezes out the water which is handy in a Tassie winter. My muddy mountain bike gear hasn't been this clean in years. I find it to be a very quiet machine unless there are big sheets or lots of jeans as the spin can get a bit rowdy. … Read more

I find the length of the programs pretty good except cotton eco which can take ages. The other programs are generally very reasonable. We usually use the mix programs which takes between 1.05 and 1.25 depending on size of load and temp.

Water usage is good. About 40-50 litres on our usual program.

The only problem with this machine and is the reason I didn't give it 5 Stars, is that it uses 9 watts even when it is not turned on which in this day and age of energy efficiency is an outrage for an otherwise economical machine. I cannot work out what is using the power as there are no lights on and doesn't need to be on standby. Crazy.

Absolutely amazing so far – I read some reviews about this machine prior to purchase. It was hard to find any bad reviews. I also got it well below normal retail price which impressed me. which sure went the distance but the LG cleans much better and doesn't leave the clothes all messed up.I have to say that regarding the towels my AEG made them far rougher than the LG, but I do use the control panel to adjust the wash type and cycle. April 11th 2018 Update: Good backup service

I purchased the machine, a WD1408NPW on 02/02/2017. Initially it worked brilliantly. It washed well, was silent and easy to use. I encountered a problem after 18months. The control panel had moisture in it and sometimes it would not wash. If I put a hair dryer on it often it worked again.

LG sent a tech out and he determined the panel was somehow getting moisture in it. He ordered the parts. This is when the real problems began. Some parts arrived and some didn't. I finally had enough and contacted LG. Initially the response was slow, but eventually LG simply offered me a new and upgraded model free of charge. They also arranged for the tech to pick up the old one and install the new one. The warranty began from installation date.

I was angry for a while but LG came good, no questions asked. This impressed me.

The new machine is really good, and quiet too. According to the tech LG is a good brand of washing machine and they stand behind their products. I have to agree.
