Great machine no problems at all! – Washes well, is quiet, can fit a large load which is great. Clothes can get a bit tangled but not a drama. Love the timer to be able to set for next day, automatically fills to required load. Has been a great machine! Show details · 1
Great machine so long as it's maintained – Overall a great machine, but it does require regular maintenance. I assume all washers do. The small grey drain hose can be unclipped at the base of the machine. If you have grey scrud, brown marks, dirty washing etc take this hose outside and shake it thoroughly. The amount of (clay like crap?) that builds up in here is gross. Beside this hose… Read more · 1
(when replacing it is a circular opening poke your finger in here to remove any large objects like coins, rocks, hair clips, biro parts. My tub lint filters need cleaning every single time also as i have pets. I never use fabric softener as it's responsible for scrud and fabric softener build up can only be removed with overnight tub soaking with phosphate detergents that have not been available in Australia for decades. Even though LG manual and customer service advice is to use a high phosphate detergent to do a soak and clean. Good luck finding it. Some dishwasher tablets still have small amounts. I wash my king sized doona, pillows, woolens, delicates you name it in this machine without issue. Spin cycle is one of the best I have found. Clothes are often tangled, but that happens when overloaded. Do a hot wash (like all your tea towels plus some original sunlight dish detergent) as per manual instructions each month or so and you won't have oily buildups. I have bore water which is very hard and contains high levels of rust and minerals, I regularly have to remove the hot and cold water inlet hoses to remove buildup. I find this is a great machine, i wish the lint filters were way larger as they are always full but nothing else bothers me.
Favourite machine ever! - 8 years of great service – We bought this machine in 2013 and it has been excellent - 8 years now. It is used daily and is my better half's favourite machine ever. We are replacing it for a front loader in a new house, otherwise we would keep it. It has never had a repair. The only issue to be aware of is to keep the filters cleaned regularly as per the LG cleaning and… Read more · 1
maintenance leaflet - image attached. There is a pump filter at the rear of the machine that can occasionally trap fibres and leak water onto the floor. The instructions show how to clean & fix this easily- no need for the repairman. Ours required this twice in 8 years. Great washer, highly recommend.
Positive reviews
Overall, good product – OK, there seems to be quite a polarised review opinion out there, perhaps partly due to divided consumer expectations, but also tending to suggest there may be an unreliable build quality on this machine. My experience with this machine is absolutely excellent, does a great wash if you take the effort to understanding wash programming options.… Read more
It's true that the machine does tend to tangle clothes, but that has been my experience with every top loader I've owned over the years. I'm 70 now so I've seen a few, but this LG has done a better job than many. Only criticism is that cleaning the lint filters is fiddly and a bit of a pain in the bum. My overall rating out of 10 is a solid 8, would I but another, absolutely YES
Great machine – Have had this washing machine for 6 or 7 years now, still works great and is easy to use. Clothes come out very clean (even hubbys greasu work clothes) also cleans my delicates very well Show details
No complaints – I've had this machine for 6-7 years, never had any problems and I'm a lazy washer, throw everything in at the same time, jeans, towels, T shirts, blouses, all in together. The only 3 cycles I've used is fluffy, tub clean and quick wash. The quick wash water level won't go higher than 4, that is the only problem and it really doesn't bother me,… Read more
don't know if it's always been like that or not. Prior to buying this LG, I had F&P and it had this incredible spin cycle where everything came out almost dry, I miss that but would rather LG washer as it's never needed any repairs. Never cleaned the filter as I never knew it had one, only found this out through reading some of the reviews.
Negative reviews
What a piece of rubbish – Having paid a lot of money for this fancy looking, beeping piece of engineering marvel I expected the earth and got nothing, only machine on the planet which makes clothes filthier after being cleaned. Personally, having read all other reviews, I feel a class action against LG for the 10's of thousands of dollars worth of clothes I have lost is on the cards. If only I knew Show details

Brown Algae – Terrible machine. I have had this Brown Algae for years. It arrived 6 months after purchasing the machine. Given up on washing whites over and over again. Doesn't matter how many times I clean this machine it never goes away. You do a tub wash and bits are all through the water. Its the biggest piece of crap I have ever bought and at $1000 it… Read more
wasn't cheap. I will never buy an LG product again. Got used of shaking my washing when dry which seams to remove alot if it. Alot of items I wash in bags but it still gets in. NO Stars whatsoever.
Waste of money send to scrap metal yard – Had this thing for five years now broken down at least five times. Wasted that much water and power through machine doing extra cycles Thankfully the last of my LG appliances. had LG tv & blueray and fridge all broken after warranty will never buy another LG appliance again. Motherboard keeps breaking down – I have always been happy with this machine however after 5 years, I had 3 major electronic issues. On two occasions the sensor that senses the lid is closed malfunctioned requiring expensive repairs. Parts are only under warranty for 90 days! After spending the cost of the machine in 3 repairs, I have given up and purchased a new machine. Show details
Yucky brown algae – The machine grows brown algae that is hard to get rid of. Even after using a bleach plus baking soda on the clean cycle, the algal growth gets killed, but then becomes a sandy residue. Then there will be about 7 clean washes before the algal growth comes back again. The most frustrating washing machine ever. Show details

reliable workhorse – I've been using the machine for 7 years. Never failed me, very good machine. I guess many do not follow the simple rules and then complain about the quality. My advice would be to look after your machine: do not forget to clean the filters, and now and then run the "Tub Clean" program, just a simple maintenance, really. The only feature I feel lacking is the "hand machine" program. Show details
Can't wait to get rid of it! – When I bought this machine almost 8 years ago, initially for the first two years it was great. After that I had so many problems. Lint on clothes, Tangled clothes, dirty clothes, destroyed clothes, you name it... I am getting rid of it soon and so looking forward to that! Show details
Perfect for growing family – Does as well as can be expected. Love that I can chuck the clothes in and it will automatically work out the water level. No excessive water usage this way. Can set a timer so clothes are ready to hang out when I wake up (or put in dryer if weather is wet). Relatively quiet machine. Large capacity. Show details

Perfect – It works great, no complaints whatsoever. White, color and blacks. Really happy with the machine as is. Superb water use which is really important to me. Don't understand all bad reviews. Maybe because we only use for small wash. Very good machine for us so far no problems untill this day Show details
Perfect – I am using this machine for now 3+ years. I really like how it cleans and rinse the laundry. This machine gives you option to customise according to your laundry weight and type. I like the tub clean and tub dry option. The machine is not noisy. i will recommend LG washing machine to others Show details
Happy with this washer – This machine washes the clothes really good but having said that I don't have any very dirty work clothes that I've had to put in it. the best thing is the fuzzy logic, you can put a bath towel in with normal wash and there's no fuzz on your wash. Show details
SCRUD – LG WT-H750. Purchased in Oct 2011 from Harvey Norman Caringbah. Machine has been operating fine till some 4 years ago. Then SCRUD started to appear on clothing. SCRUD has been our only problem with this model machine. Seems to be a very common issue experienced by many other owners of this model. Can not get rid of it. Getting worse. Have tried… Read more
ever suggestion of LG, including that which is in the owners manual. No luck.
Feel the only way to rid machine of SCRUD would be to totally dismantle machine, clean all the internals and start again.
Have another model LG available to use in mean time.
So will tackle LG with this proposition, if no luck will give it a go myself.
Otherwise considering it is used nearly every day, sometimes 2 times a day, it cleans well, treats clothing ok, is not loud and have had no mechanical issues or failures to date in 7 years of ownership.
But after experiencing this constant ongoing non resolvable SCRUD problem and the unsatisfactory client attitude of LG in sorting out this problem of this model I really feel we should have replaced our previous 25 year old Simpson with the same Simpson instead of this LG.
too many problems – I purchased this in 2012. Last year they came out to repair and I was told that he basically replaced all the parts (this also took 3 weeks to achieve and I spent a lot of $$ at a laundromat in the meantime). Was so annoyed I didn't get a new machine. Now it is not working AGAIN. About to call them and go through the whole process. Wonder how… Read more
I will go. It has a 10 year motor warranty and we purchased and extended 3 year warrant when we purchased. Wish me luck!! Will never buy LG again.

Automatically dry problem – Hi,I have H650 problem. When we use automatically wainshing, and at the end of washing between rinse and dry, it's big problem, when machine finish rinse ,and going to dry,at that time it goes back rinse to fill in the water and rinse again and again, never stop rinse and dry. It's annoying, but when I try to manual try, it's working. Shud down mid cycle - i will never purchase any LG brand item in my live again – This are the worse items I have purchased in my lifetime - 10 year warranty are a fake. power cut off mid cycle. with no help or after sale support. The reason it's discontinued because it have so many factory faults that LG are not willing to deal with. Don't ever purchase LG Show details
I regret letting go of my LG Washing machine – I have been using this washing machine for years when the growing family required a bigger tub. We then purchased another brand with a bigger capacity and I do regret and miss the efficiency and the "smart" of this washing machine. inject water to loosen the load and adjust the content of the tub by slightly rotating back and forth until the clothes are back to its place for a good wash or spin. Also, LG washing machine cleans clothes with minimal time, but comes out clean, this way it protects the clothes from wear and tear. I admit that sometimes I get lazy buttoning up or zipping pants or shorts but this appliance doesn't ruin our clothes. I just hope I could go back to LG wm, asap.
Always trust L.G – i have been using L.G for the last 10 years, and i found it is quite reliable for the washing machine. I have never compared with other brands, but I am happy with L.G Washing machine's performance, as there is no issue at all. plus special offer in June at Binglee. Trust me, a good and reliable brand! Show details
Good Machine – I purchased this machine about 5 years ago and it is still doing a good job. I'm not a fan of having to clean the filters each time but it is relatively quiet and cleans pretty well. I prefer to use the shorter cycles to save time and water and find that it still clean and rinses thoroughly. Show details
I will never buy LG Again What Rating?? – Over the few years we have had this machine I have always noticed lots of lint on the clothing. Then a while ago my wife bought some expensive light coloured sheets, they all have brown spots on them now. I thought it was the way my wife was washing the clothes, but now after reading the reviews I understand that it was the machine. Then today… Read more
the drain pump stopped working. So I got on the net. Clean the filter they say, that is LG. Put a towel on the floor to catch the water. What 50 litres of water, fortunately I had the sense to empty the machine first, even if they don't let you know. The filter was cleaned three times however the pump would not work. Phoned the local repairer to come and fix it. Because I live 30 minutes drive form the repair shop I have to bring it to the repair shop myself. I live in a rural area and have no-one to help me put it in a trailer, or take it off again.
Decided I should have a look at it myself, after all it is very simple piece of equipment. Phoned LG to see if they would give me a little help to pull out the pump. NO WAY you must use the authorized repairer, no help whatsoever. I decided to have a look at it. About 15 minutes later after removing the pump and removing the obstruction in the pump it is working again. Thank you to all the other reviewers that I have read today. I will look for a real washing machine now
Stay away from LG – For the first year it was ok. Even though I used the clean tub cycle regularly, the sheets were all covered in lint. A few pieces of clothes were damaged, the machine broke down every year-first there was a motor failure, then it leaked a few times and now it literally broke down-the bottom part of the drum just fell off mid cycle damaging… Read more
clothes, leaving water inside and this is a couple of weeks after I had a technician to fix the leak! LG team are not supportive, they just said they were sorry-that's all!!! When the machine has water stuck in it the only way you can drain it is to use a scoop! Will never go with LG again.
Shreds all my clothes, leaves them dirty – Pure trash. It's ruined hundreds of dollars of clothing and leaves the scraps covered in lint and brown marks. Now I need to replace the washer, as well as all my clothing. Thanks a whole bunch LG, it's wonderful to pay exorbitant amounts of money for a machine that destroys my other belongings. If Only There Was A MINUS 10 Star Rating Available! – I am aware that this model, WT-H800, has been discontinued and I only wish that I'd written a blistering review shortly after purchase (approx 2011, Bing Lee, Fairfield, NSW). Very often the clothes come out of the machine bearing dirty brown spots, which can only be removed with a stiff nail brush when the items are dry. So be prepared to spread… Read more
out your sheets, and other large items over the table and start brushing! This is infuriating. Apparently one must not dare to add a soaker, a fabric softener or even old fashioned vinegar to the wash as this will result in "scrud", filthy brown spots all over the clothes. What a quality appliance...NOT. I have strongly warned my family, friends and anyone who wants to listen, to never buy an LG washing machine. I only wish that the star review option could offer me minus 10 star rating.

6 years later – I bought the LG WT-H650 in March 2011. It is now March 2017 and it won't start. The on/off button does not work. Fortunately this product has been discontinued but I would have expected this to last a lot longer than 6 years. I have had second hand machines last longer. The call out fee is $77 plus $27.50 per every 15 minutes plus parts. I… Read more
think I will need to buy a new machine as it does not seem worth it.
Over the last few months, I have noticed brown specs on my clothing after being washed. I tried to do a tub clean, I also cleaned out the filters and used regular warm cycles as recommended. This did not solve the problem. I had to hope that the specs would come off when hanging on the line.
It's a shame because it is easy to use and has a few good cycles that can be customised to suit your wash.
This needs a design review – LG, top loader, 5.5kg, Inverter, Direct Drive, 10 year Warranty and a lid where part of it folds down giving a smaller space above where a dryer might be situated. Model WT-H550 The salesperson said that the green circles inside were part of the filter system to dispose of the fluff that is produced by the washing and never had to be… Read more
emptied, as the fluff went down past this and was then washed out of the machine as they had been taught to say when selling the product. The filter when not cleaned out leaves that unmistakable dirty, stale smell in the machine. The filter has a double section to be removed and each part must be cleaned. These green circles were conveniently removed for the machine on display when the machine was viewed on a return visit to the shop.
Within a year the lid hinge on one side broke. Called for a warranty fix and the tradesman came and would not fix it. Said that it was the consumers fault. The lid was opened and closed with each wash. Came to open it one time and it was wonky. It took a while to find out what was wrong. The repairman would replace the lid and top of the machine though for $240, which was about half the cost of the machine! The plastic lid was connected to the plastic top of the machine by a single metal rod. That is poor design. Now the lid falls down on my arm when putting clothes in and taking them out of the machine.
The design for choosing a program for different clothes is chaotic. There are ten buttons from left to right on the machine. Say you choose a quick wash of delicates. Push the tenth on the right, the power button, come back 2 to the left and choose the program. It is not under the list but to the right of the list so if you choose the button under the list by mistake you delay the wash by hours. Now you still have more to do – go back to your left another 6 buttons and choose the water temperature, then one to the right to choose the water quantity you want, then another 6 to the right to start the program. Be careful if you are in a hurry as the power button is easy to touch by mistake so you have to start the whole process again. Now if you like this set of instructions it would be nice to assume that the next time you turn on the machine it would all be set for you. NO. You start again from scratch. In this day and age it is easy to put buttons in a left to right order of use, not right, left and right again, and have a save this selection somewhere. Poor design again.
I will NEVER buy this brand again. It did not operate as demonstrated, the warranty was not honoured, the salesmen were taught the wrong information and the programming for a wash is time consuming, and confusing.
Not happy – Not happy with this machine it leaves white lint on the dark clothes & brown flakes on he whites. Always have to top the water level up as it doesn't seem to fill up over the clothes to wash properly. I have also noticed some holes in my t-shirts. I like the quick wash function for a small load and it is a nice looking machine but I definitely won't be buying one like this again. Show details
LG Top Load Washer in 2017 – I love and adore my brand new LG Top Load washer from Harvey Norman.
