Don't waste your time

1 out of 5, reviewed on May 25, 2016

Purchased a Trooper March last year. The battery had to be replaced a month after having it, as it would not charge fully. The instructions to put it up were from 2005 and a different model but figured it out ourselves. 2 poles come with no rubber on the bottom so you run the risk of having the poles go through your flyscreen or canvas as you try to pull it out. The door closest to the bed had been sewn on incorrectly so you are unable to get the door straight, causing the flyscreen to start to tear all around the stitch line from the second use. And no they do not cover flyscreen in the 12 month warranty. Don't bother with them

Good experience with the company. Buying my second MDC product.

I bought an MDC Gal extreme soft floor camper a few years back and very happy with the product, price and service that I received. When I took delivery of the camper there was a dent in the water tank. The tank wasn't leaking but had a dent which looked like Danae from the forklift. One phone call and I had a new water tank delivered within a couple of days. I used the camper a few times and whilst heading up north three Roos jumped out in front of my car whilst I was travelling at 100kph. Emergency stop and the trailer tracked perfectly behind the car as I came to a full stop. I was worried about it jack knifing but no such issue. The camper was easy to set up on my own.. I sold the camper to my cousin a couple of years ago and they use it all the time and love it. I have now just ordered the MDCXT17 HRT. I climbed all over it in the show room and I was very impressed with the quality of the finished product. These vans and camper trailers are made in MDC's factory in China and finished off in their own factories in each State. The owners are Australian and the caravans and campers are subjected to extensive off road testing. The first camper I bought was a bit rough around the edges but this didn't impact on the ability to go off road. A mate also had one of these and towed it across the centre and through the Gulf country without any issues. The new van that I am looking at is outstanding in its finish. They have obviously sorted out their quality control issues. I am so far impressed. Hopefully I will be equally impressed once I take delivery of my new van. I will let you know how it goes.

Issue still not resolved!

1 out of 5, reviewed on May 06, 2016

Just wanted to update people who have read or will read my last review about our Market Direct Camper trailer. It has been 2 mths now, since we contacted them regarding the numerous holes, rips in our moon roof. The last contact we have had with them was on the 19th of APRIL, even though their reply to our previous review stated someone would contact us soon! We even unfortunately had to contact Fair Trade NSW to help us resolve this issue. MDC will not even reply to them! I tried to to contact them via Facebook, however you will notice only po sitive posts on their page as all negative ones will be deleted. We as well as a few of our friends, have also been permanently blocked from their page. They did reply to one of friends post, stating they will fix it in Brisbane. However we have no plans to go to Brisbane, especially after spending an expensive 6 days in Sydney after they told us they would fix in there. During our trip of Australia we plan to avoid the big cities. They boast in their advertisements that you can "escape with confidence" believe me we have no confidence in this company at all. As consumer law states if a product has a major fault, as this is, the customer is entitled to a PROMPT repair a replacement or a refund. All we want is a repair so that we can relax and enjoy our travels. It is such a shame to see a popular Australia wide company treat their customers so badly.

Good value

Bought a gal extreme. Had some minor things, but they were attentive to the issues. For what you pay, it's pretty good.

Market direct campers not that good

1 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 20, 2016

Hi I have a market direct step through camper when I first got it it had some faults with it like leaking water tank and some suspension problems with the springs phone market direct campers as usual got fogged off they said they send a new tank and heavier springs this did not happen being a diesel fitter I fixed the problems my self the camper is three years old now in January this year 2016 I phoned MDC about the axle as I wanted to have a spare I got some young girl on the phone who was relaying what I was saying to someone in the back gro und. I said to her let me talk to the person in the background as she had no idea what I was on about and it was very unprofessional got to talk to the background person told him what I wanted his reply was that's a very old camper I said it's only three years old any way he said he get back to me but never did there service is terrible and I will never buy another market direct camper again. I go to some of the camping shows that are on and when I walk past MDC I tell people not to buy as they are poor campers and the backup service is poor as well I will put my name to this I have nothing to hide Rod Bussey [number removed]

Venturer LX RF hard floor camper

5 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 03, 2016

Last year we purchased the Venturer Expedition Series Camper and LOVE it. It not only looks great - we get loads of travellers talking. The big selling point was the dual wheels on the back also the 3 batteries included. Were doing the GRR in June and that will be the test. Staff awesome. Busy company but very helpful and could not help us enough. Very happy.A tip we got was wet the canvas...let it dry...repeat. That closes any holes...we also sprayed ours for added waterproofing (about 4 cans) and no problems. We have chipped our gull wing box es but have pop riveted checkerplate on for protection. We visited MDC at Perth Caravan show and they have put checkerplate on the boxes of the new models coming through.
We upgraded the bearings for quality Japanese ones. We had to get them to tweak the catches on some of the drawers which was sorted no problems. Perth office manager Fernando is a great guy very patient and very thorough. Our salesman was Tony who is amazing. A traveller like us who knows his products and nothing is a problem. I would 100% recommend these guys if your are shopping for a camper..we went back the second time and bought one. We go off road alot..beaches tracks etc this camper is awesome. Easy to set up...and pack up. Love it.

Bad camper rubbish quality

1 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 01, 2016

Brought the T box elite, Well talk about the run around, sales was very average, Picked the camper up the guys at the pick-up point are great.
And then today set it up, well what a piece of junk, boat rack has been ground off, looks like I let my five year old loose with the grinder, and where they have painted over there grinds the paint came off while I was conditioning the canvas, The canvas at the rear of the tailgate does not fit and never will, One of the drawers roller is broken, so I am tipping the rest wont last long at all, 14k and the worst thing I have ever brought, quality on these T Box Elite are rubbish.

Thoroughly confused and bitterly disappointed - this mob is unreliable.

1 out of 5, reviewed on Mar 22, 2016

What is it with MDC - they are still making excuses to justify late delivery of a Cape York model camper that was promised "before Easter" that was contracted back in January with $10,000 deposit paid on 10 February? Am also aware of distinct differences in the 'upgrade' list for at least 3 quotes and 2 Cape models ordered at the same time (??) making it up as they go?
If you consider this product, my advice is to see the product on the floor and buy from "floor stock" or risk being treated this way. They have your money and you have the grie
f!!
When I questioned an amount of $770 "Dealer Origination" fee in their quote, it was immediately withdrawn with no explanation (smells of scam - double dip).
To be clear, I am not buying one of these (or any) MDC product but do have a vested interest in the trip planning and commitment based on their assurances and all that that is now an expensive non event.

Be very wary -- don't believe their word -- [name removed] [phone number removed]

Another platitude - another delay - another automated reply. Communication and commitment should be a BIG part of your business plan. Instead it is ignorance and ignore that are becoming big parts in your business image.

Love the camper design but fairly disappointed

3 out of 5, reviewed on Mar 12, 2016

I bought a MDC T-box V2 around 4 years ago on our second use which was about 6 months after purchase we got rain and we had couple drips from the roof and a water leak near the door and the gas struts wouldn't hold the top up when we were loading gear into it, we rang MDC and their fix for the problem was a storm cover which was just a tarp that has to be dragged over the top of the tent every time you have set up the camper, problem is its exactly the same size as the roof so when it does rain it still manages to get under the tarp and if you get enough rain it still leaks, its quite annoying. I'm looking into what I can use to waterproof the tent better
The trailer itself is an awesome design heaps of storage for all the gear and kids stuff, we use the camper approx. 4 to 5 times a year so it hasn't had a lot of use, when we went out at Christmas to diamond head the 6km's of dirt road was a bit bumpy and corrugated, I took it quite slow so we didn't rattle our teeth out.
Only to find when we got out there that both bottom shock absorber mounts had broken off,

Questions & Answers

Hi we have an earlier market direct camper. My son is looking at Cruiser slide ff camper. We missed out on show specials when we got ours. Just wondering what Mackay has to offer with there campers? We might not be able to get there. Can you please let me know what deal you can do on camper? Thank you

Mazza asked on Apr 20, 2016

Is the xt12 Australian made?

Kim asked on Mar 19, 2016

Answer this

From China I believe.

Purchased XT12 Dec 2015 1st trip January. Had problems with tainted water, a very overpowering plastic taste? Sent back to Campbellfield they didn't rectify the problem. We checked hoses they were all clear plastic, not food grade. The hoses all had the plastic smell. We replaced these hoses at our expense with food grade all to no avail. We have gone through about 800 litres of water flushing the tanks out with bi carb & vinegar. We contacted Campbellfield numerous times but they don't appear to be interested in rectifying this problem for us. My question is has anyone else had this problem? We also had a leak in the roof which was supposed to be fixed but that has leaked again. So far not happy.

Suebcam asked on Mar 19, 2016

Answer this

Yeah we still do not drink water from the tank for that reason . It only gets used for washing up

Further to our water problem. Happen to stumble across some info on website B.E.ST water filters regarding "an old guy who had been in the industry forever " said the only way to get the plastic taste out of the water tanks is cheap no frills red cordial. Thought what have we got to lose. Bought 3 lge bottles of red cordial tipped in into tanks, ran it through the 3 tanks, hoses, hot water service, taps etc let it sit over night. Then emptied the tanks while filling them up until clear. IT WORKS. Check out B.E.S.T water filters website under tips & tricks -plastic taste in water. Good luck. But MDC you can't have clear hoses on your vans they have to be food grade.
