Great Machine – I have both the matching Maytag washer and dryer for over 19 years. They have moved with me 4x and I have never had any problems with them other than the rubber ring getting mold spots on it. (That's an easy fix though, just leave the door open and it dries out fine. You should do this really with any front loader.) Both machines have been very… Read more
reliable and trustworthy and even the touchscreen still works great too. If you can find these machines in good shape, go for it!
Was fixed enough during warranty now it is still now working properly – This machine is rubbish it cost a fortune and has never worked properly from day one and technician was not much better . The door mechanism has been replaced and the internal mother board under warranty. Now the screen goes mad all the time and it has started making a clicking sound so we have to turn it off when not using, it is heading for the… Read more
tip as it will now only work on one program. Not worth the money at all One thing is it takes a big load Expensive, bad warranty service
Junk. Don't touch it – We had a Fisher & Paykel top loader with a similar capacity. It ran for 12 years, without a hitch, until the main circuit board developed a fault. NZ$250 for a reconditioned board, and we were back in business. We've had this Maytag overpriced piece of junk for 5 years. At three years, the main bearing failed (Cost over NZ$1000 to repair, bill… Read more
taken care of by 5 year extended warranty), and now, just out of extended warranty, the main board has gone faulty. Over NZ$800 for the part.
Come on! the thing cost NZ$1600 new. For that money, I'd expect better. Everyone in the US carries on about buy US made, it's better quality. I'd rather buy something from China - built better, costs less, lasts longer. Big load Overpriced and built by morons.
Goes to the landfill after 4 years – Served well while it still did, but fixing is prohibitively expensive. Took large loads and generally did a good job. Until touch screen started to click itself to death, day and night, and volatile memory error reported, among others. Diagnosis was circuit board and possibly front panel. While we were pondering it started to also… Read more
short-circuiting our house electricity. That made the decision a no-brainer. Big capacity, OK spin Cost, and when it went bad it did it gloriously
Do Not Get One! – 4 Different families used this machine over 2 years and all wished they owned one, ease of use, washing performance and loading and unloading made this machine a winner, then the door locking mechanism and circuit board failed Ease of loading, unloading, washing performance cycle times, capacity Door lock mechanism and circuit board repairs of $800… Read more
made this machine go to landfill after only 3 years.Maytag (now Whirlpool)customer service were friendly and helpful until I wanted a refund or then to pay for the repairs, then they said they could now longer help me.I would not recommend this machine or the Whirlpool brand to anyone.Do not buy!
Terrible – DON'T DO IT!! A VERY EXPENSIVE machine and the after market sales is not worth the effort, unreliable (negligable) customer service. Are supposed to supply parts for the lifetime of the machine in a timely manner and three months is Maytag Timely!!! Hopeless warrantee service, and very rude staff! Great when it works but unreliable everything… Read more
else. Water efficient, great wash, great load. Reapirs Under Warrantee took over 3 months - eventually offered $80 in laundry vouchers and eventually a complimentary machine. Hopeless service, never return phone calls, very long delays to fix major problems.
Terrible – Dont do it!!!! Other brands such as Bosch are superior and cheaper",and the customer service is far superior, too many bad reviews etc re Maytag and whirlpool which they also market...worth doing research!!!! Capacity No real sort programme, heavy awkward door, constant error messages re door not being opened since last wash (drove me mad!!)… Read more
unable to start when stopped during program.
But mostly the lack of customer service from company, not returning calls, or even acknowledging me when I actually visited the store due to being ignored via phone. **This was a factory-second (whatever) machine, but still cost $2000...finally got a refund, but would never buy Maytag again!!
Excellent – Top class products and service 10 out of 10. I have never ever had a problem with Maytag appliances they are top class and well worth the money I would recommened them to every one, and their customer service is top quality I have had one problem with my one of my appliance in 27 years and they were quick to fix/repair it within a day at a good… Read more · 1
rate and their call centre staff were so helpfully and friendly. Top of the line, Quick wash, reversable door, beautiful clothes, takes a huge load, just like a commercial washer, simply perfect. Nothing so far (only have for 14 month), maybe its a bit pricey...
Terrible – Disgraceful and deceitful Whirlpool service - they tried to organise a $1000 repair which cost me less than $100 by doing the homework. Wouldn't touch with a bargepole. Will now look for a Miele. Size Hopeless electronics and door seals - see the successful class action in the US for the failing Main Boards and mouldy Door Seals which occurred… Read more
with the predecessor on which this machine is closely based - a few people on eBay even makes a small business providing electronic parts and instructions to repair the well known problems! Don't let Whirlpool (who owns Maytag) tell you that this is a different machine to the US - only difference is a step up transformer for the voltage and all parts can be purchased from the US for 1/3 of the rip-off prices charged by Whirlpool in Oz.
OK – It is a very sturdy machine able to take a really good load of washing including five large towels and foot mats in one wash. It doesn't need much detergent so make sure you half the recommended front load powder or liquid. I've found the machine easy to use and haven't had any problems so far. Very large load capacity a true 8 kg machine Quiet… Read more
in operation
Easy to use Shortest cycle 60 minutes.
You must keep the door open after each cycle or it gets a bit smelly - but that is also true for most machines including top loaders. Seems to retain water inside machine after spin cycle.
Excellent – we run a motel and have 3 of these machines in our guest laundry for the guests to use they are great machines we also have 3 of the matching dryers and makes the guests laundry a breeze apart from the 1 machine getting the wrong powder they have been great we are going to be replacing our whirlpool front loader with one of these wonderful… Read more
machines when a guest uses non front load powder it breaks the machine down we stoped the problem and provide omo front load powder for our guests
Excellent – A great and very large machine. It seems to wash well and is easy to use. The favourite setting is a great feature. large 8kg capacity. Very quiet and unlike a lot of front loaders you can add cloths once it has started. I pre-ordered the Neptune a few months before it was released in Australia and was one of the first people in Australia to have… Read more
one. The computer screen went a little funny in the first few weeks and Maytag were great. The gave me a brand new machine. The front seat does get mouldy if you do not dry it after use or leave the door open. The 1000rpm spin does leave cloths quite creased so I have reduced it to 800rpm.
Terrible – maytag import parts by boat. our machine broke down for the 2nd time on December 13 2007. The first parts that were ordered by the service agent didn't fix the problem. The second set of parts that were ordered on Jan 17 2008 won't be arriving into the country until Feb 29. The Maytag customer service rep told me then it would be a few days until… Read more
the service agent get's the parts, and the service agent won't schedule a service call until they get the parts. So we're estimating a 3 month wait to get our $3000 washing machine fixed when it's working, it does the job really well having to wait 3 months to get it fixed. having to buy another washing machine because you have to wait 3 months to get it fixed
Good – This is a big improvement on the first front loader I purchased many years ago. It doesn't take up much space but takes a much larger load than one would imagine. Now I can wash large items like bedding, easily. Quiet, easy to use, does the job Nothing yet.
