This is an excellent tv and all works 100% – Hi there, does anyone have an original remote for sale to suit the Medion md30612 Aus-A. As no universal remotes work on this model. Ph 0413 double0 three 468Sydney Aus. Show details
TV Reverts to Western Australia Time – See the report by CSP (about 4 mths ago) to obtain a full description of the problems that are being experienced by users of this ALDI purchased Medion TV unit Show details
Very poor value – They work fine but I've had 2 Aldi TVs, and both only lasted 2-3 years. Very poor value really, considering they're maybe 25% cheaper than a branded one. The branded ones I've had have lasted at least 3 times as long, and sometimes much more

medion after sales service – the tv (model above - not smart tv) was purchased from local aldi store and worked perfectly for about 3 years. suddenly got 'no signal' on the screen and were unable to receive any channels. the remote had ceased to work about a year earlier. i emailed medion and after confirming the purchase (out of warranty, no receipt but i had the credit… Read more
card statement), medion agreed to pay for return postage, look at the tv with no guarantee of repair. after about a month i had an email from medion saying a mainboard replacement was necessary and they would do that for free! they posted the (now working) tv back WITH a new remote control a couple of weeks ago. i get emails from kogan daily (smart tvs, free delivery) and have been very tempted but with this service i will definitely buy from local aldi again.
Good performance but No MPEG4 format for HD TV – Picture quality and sound are very good, PVR functions are easy to use. The electronic program display is well arranged and easy to navigate. It has all the necessary ports including HDMI for connection to a laptop, Generally happy with TV. However one shortcoming is that it does not provide for the MPEG4 format which is used for the latest HD TV… Read more · 1
channels. Only the SBS HD channel is watchable. For the other networks can only watch in standard definition, which is still quite satisfactory.
Problems with HD retuning – Stated as MPEG4 tuner and yet cant pick up new channels 78 or 90 and that's because they are broadcast in MPEG4 format. The TV EPG stated they were there but kept getting the message " Not Supported" so sent it back after 2 years and got a full refund, which was a shame as the TV and picture was good. Never has any problems at all apart for the MPEG4 tuner all other stations are broadcast in MPEG2.
Negative reviews
aldi rubbish – I purchased this Medion TV to use as a monitor. If the laptop goes to sleep, the screen goes black and it wont come back to life .. the on light is lit up (green) but the screen remains black. It has infuriated me as I like this screen as a monitor and the price was good. I have tried to bypass the problem by setting the screen to be in… Read more
hibernation with the Windows sign bouncing around the screen. It seems to have solved the problem for now but I imagine it will crash eventually. I also purchased an iron from Aldi which worked twice. I purchaed hair clippers which worked once. They do not seem to have any regard for longevity in items. I wont buy any electricals from Aldi any more.
crap screen black out – same problem gone black screen has sound also used to crack very loudly sometimes befor this happened always had trouble with the cracking and black screen after cant they make tvs that last today such a crap deal. looked alright when purchased used it mainly in the kitchen to watch tv and dvd,s for the grandchildren when they came over now its… Read more
just a wall plaque with no enjoyment what so ever had a Medion tower pc it had virtually the same problems
Garbage – This was purchased from Aldi's and only about 16 months old .. TV screen has gone black but does have sound. Seems backlight is gone. Only way I think this TV should be distributed is if you get it for free with a bag of prunes from the market. You may as well buy a radio & listen to talk back on AM.

12months old now it wont turn on, crap – I bought this a year ago average usage now nothing an when you turn it off power light stays on for far to long. And when you touch left tip back corner it feels lke an electric shock through fingers..
Utter rubbish!!! – On the 24/11/2012 I unfortunately purchased 4 x Medion MD30612 TV’s from Aldi. 2 of the TV’s died just after 12 months from the same issue that was widely reported by many other unfortunate ALDI shoppers on various forums http://www.productreview.com.au/p/medion-md-30612-md-30614.html and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/135206 that they just… Read more
fail to turn on.
So now instead of 4 TV’s I have only 2 remaining working TV’s (which only still work because they are both in rooms where they are lightly used, but now one of those is also struggling to be turned on so no doubt it will die the same death very soon).
And now there is a new issue, these TV’s do not pick up any of the latest HD channels that the various television stations have introduced over the past 6 months or so as these channels are in MPEG-4 format:
The below channels are all unable to be received:
13 – Ten HD
74 – TV4ME
76 - 7FLIX
78 – RACING.COM
90 – 9 HD
These TV’s were advertised and sold as FULL HD televisions, I still have the original boxes and the original manuals and they all state that these television will pick up the MPEG-4 format. All the new TV channels that are now rolled out are in MPEG-4 format so these TV’s are becoming more and more useless and obsolete with every new channel launched.
On the 25/01/2013 I also purchased a Medion MD30614 TV (when I purchased this TV the issues with the MD30612 had not started yet as it had only been 2 months since they were purchased so I was still of the belief that Medion and Aldi were selling decent quality products).
The Medion MD30614 has never given me any problems it does not seem to suffer the same faults that the MD30612 is notorious for but like the MD30612 it does not pick up any of the new channels that are on the MPEG-4 format and it also was sold as a FULL HD TV that would work on the MPEG-4 format.
Do you think this is good enough Aldi/Medion because I certainly don’t? I work damn hard for my money and bought a heap of TV’s from you which have turned out to be nothing but pieces of rubbish.
If you sell a TV then they should not die at around the 12 month mark and if you sell TV’s as being Full HD TV’s then they should be Full HD TV’s!!!
I also think it is absolutely disgraceful and shameful that there was an obvious fault with the Medion MD30612 model TV and neither Aldi or Medion bothered to recall the model.
Aldi obviously doesn’t care if they sell faulty goods and if their customers waste their money, just as long as they make money.
I will be taking the matter further with the ACCC, and I encourage others to do likewise.
Died – Power fault. It died. Son had fun taking it to bits. I had fun throwing it away. When we purchased from ALSI we wanted another brand, unfortunately they had sold out so we ended up buying this landfill filler. Oh well in hindsight buying a more reputable brand for telly's is the way to go.
Worked fine - now nothing – This TV was a Christmas present last year and was the perfect 2nd TV. First issue - turn it on and the volume decreased right before your eyes. Had to turn it off then back on again and it was ok. Next, as you have all stated it won't turn on. Totally non responsive more often than not. If the power supply has been turned off for a while it… Read more
seems to be ok (sometimes).
Anyway Deals Direct thanks for selling refurbished crap.
This should not be allowed! Sold as a new TV but when it arrived it clearly said on packaging "refurbished".
I guess you get what you pay for.

Not Good, No Sound – Unfortunately my Aldie bought Medion tv has conked out of sound, not 12 months old. Has red writing on the back and I feel ripped off. Have a horrible feeling it has been refurbished and I bought it as a new item. God help them, if I find out they ripped me off. I haven't got the receipt, it's lost, but I am going to put the pressure on someone.
I love my TV! – My TV is almost 2 years old and I never ever had any problems with it. It is catching all free to air programs with internal antenna. The pictures is bright and the colors are awesome. It is a very good TV for the money spent. I would recommend this TV as a first TV in a house for savvy family like ours.
planned rip off – this product was purchased at aldi over 16 months ago. although not great it was ok. But within a week it started to take longer to come on and the picture quality became poor and then last night it would not turn on at all. To be honest I figured it was a gamble to buy a tv from aldi and we accept that we got ripped off. What a shame that so much… Read more
plastic and components are going to end up as land fill because medion produce crap. They should have to pay the tip fee because it certainly is rubbish.
Rubbish! – Almost to the day the 12 month warranty was up this TV starting giving trouble. Same as previous reviewer. Turn it on, stand by light turned from red to green and then perhaps the picture would come on after a few minutes or perhaps not. Then it got worse and I was constantly switching the TV off at the power point, in order to try and get to… Read more
start as the 'off' button wouldn't work on either the remote or the TV itself. Finally it just wouldn't come on at all, despite showing green light. Gave up on it as a piece of junk, not worth time, effort or money to fix. Paid $250 as a store opening 'special', should have known better! No more Aldi TVs for me !
Typical medion brand wont turn on – Paid about $250 for this piece of junk. Chose it over a brand name tv at jb for $270. Will shop a bit smarter next time and skip Aldi for tv's. Bought it as a Christmas present for the kids a couple of years ago but we started having problems getting it to turn on. LED changes green but screen stays black. Never had a lot of use and pretty… Read more
disappointed. Our old CRT TVs lasted 20 years. I also bought an Aldi Medion video camera that won't record and a Medion 4" phone that wouldn't turn on anymore after 5 months. Aldi is good for flavoured tuna and 2 minute noodles but be careful buying $20+ items. Make a photocopy of the receipt and don't expect it to work after the warranty is out.
Aerial connector snapped off – TV is now 2 years old after moving TV to clean underneath the aerial connector snapped off so half Brocken piece still inside unit. Although cheap TV it becomes expensive when you have to replace after 2 years. Although up until now TV worked perfectly fine! Poor quality components - buyer beware!
throw away – One of the worst product in australia if not the worst. Not even 15 months and broke down, no picture no sound no nothing at all. Was used for 1 to 2 hours for the last 14 months. It seems that it has a chip inside to break down after the warranty period!!
Rip off – I bought this tv in Jan 2013. Problems began in Nov 2014. Tv wont turn on with remote or manually most of the time. The warranty is out but I will be taking this further through the ACCC. I expect most tv s to last at least 5 years even a cheaper model like this one. All customers should be appropriately compensated for this problem.
Just a rip off disposable TVs – We purchased this TV would not turn on after 12 months sent back for repair worked for another 18 months ............When I rang Medion the rep told be that's good it worked for another 18 months now out of warranty . I really think a TV should last longer than that . To have it repaired will be the cost of a new TV . But not a Medion .

best value for money – I don't know about the others, but mine is excellent. Bought in 2013 for $249 from Aldi and still going strong until now. PVR works fine, I attached 320GB harddrive and I can record anything I want. It can play a lot of movie format without any conversion. I attached Googlechrome on HDMI3, Sony Blueray on HDMI2, XBOX on HDMI1 and PC on VGA, all… Read more
works perfectly. I never use original remote since I got Harmony 650. The only drawback is it can't be recognized from IR-remote app from my S4. Overall, good value for money.
Answers why it worked for a day (me) julesfenner – I rang medion this afternoon, and spoke to a senior manger. To my great surprise i got answers .... And free delivery to get it fixed.. Replaced to my taste or my money back! Medion relised the tvs had major issues. They fixed replaced and returned the rest.. However auldi in the tight bum wisdom decided not to return for full refund, but to i… Read more
sell them on. Knowing the fault. I don't know if deals direct knew or not, but i'd say yes as i noticed today as i packed my up it has numbers and scratch on the back. Long and the short is that .I
Either aldi or deals direct have to for fill medion warrenty, as they sold this product to consumers knowing it was faulty stock , so if any one has prof of sale with in the last 12 months they have to forfill the warrenty.. But i think that with bit of pressure we could just get our monies back from either aldi, deals direct or nyother company that sold this procduct as new
Wish you all the best i woll keep you posted
Jules
Worked for a day – I bought this tv at deals direct, thinking it was great value, only to have it work for one day, i can't turn it on with the remote. I have to sit and turn it on and off at the wall and cross all my fingers and toes it will work! Deals direct wanted to charge me to return it. Being a disabled pensioner it took me almost 6 months to save for this !
Ripped off by Medion and Aldi – Bought 3 of these TV's. Two of them broke down just after 12 month warranty expired. Same problem. Will not turn on at all or will not display picture when on/off light goes to green. Medion helpdesk just advised to turn off at wall overnight - apparently the TV doesn't like being on standby all the time (?). Workaround worked OK for exactly one… Read more
week, then nothing worked. Got quote for repair....bad motherboard problem diagnosed. Repair & postage would cost more than product value. Surely TV's should last more than 12 months, even in this era of built in obsolescence. Don't buy from these companies, they are rip off merchants.
Should be taken off the market – Bought the tv 4 months ago at aldi, receipt wasn't copied so it faded, date unreadable therefore no warranty valid from aldi. Paid cash so n record. One day tv wouldn't turn on manually or with remote, red light showing but no response. Phoned medion not helpful, they have it planned that any repairs cost more than the tv. $120 to look at it… Read more
return postage your expense, then add labour and parts? Planned obsolence we know about this is plain theft. Company should be prosecuted and the product refused by quality control standards committee. Stop ripping off the public medion. Hope you crash and burn like your products. Hopefully consumers will vote with their feet and give your products a wide berth. Shameful and illegal behaviour. Ban them now
Stay away – TV has. Been replaced twice, all 3 TVs have had the same problem... Won't turn on. Never buy another , wish I had have googled this before. Purchasing.
Won't turn on at remote or TV – We purchased this TV 2 years ago but as we go away for 6 months caravaning every year and it is only in the bedroom we have really only used it for a year if that so this is not satisfactory at all I think Medion should pay to have it foxed or replace it.
No Picture After 8 Months - Warranty Denied – I bought the TV as an after-sale leftover in December 2013 for $249 cash. After 3 months it had an intermittent problem where half the screen would have a greyish tinge. A fortnight ago the picture went off, screen went black, and nothing since. Aldi refused to take the item back, although I stressed that I wasn't after a refund, just to have the… Read more
fault reviewed by Medion (the Aldi receipt had faded to white). The Duty Manager said I'd have to phone Medion. Medion won't recognise the Aldi Warranty Details card & User Guide as proof of purchase, although they only distribute through Aldi. They suggested I package & send the TV to St Leonards NSW at my expense, they'd look at it and, if they could repair it, charge me an unspecified sum for the repair and return delivery. Now a potential ACCC matter. Price seemed good. Image quality good while it lasted. Intermittent problems after 3 months. Picture crashed after only 8 months. Warranty worthless, no assistance from the store.
Failed a couple of months out of warranty – Purchased in January 2013 the unit would not turn on in April 2014. A check on the net showed others having same problem but switching off at the mains for 10 minutes and all would be well again. This worked up until last week, now it is definitely dead. I am a qualified TV technician but need a schematic which Medion repair centre say they do not… Read more
have. They can fix the TV at a price that is more than replacement cost.
Would not buy another Medion TV
don't buy Medion 31.5 inch TV. It does not switch on after 13months – To add another experience. This TV seems to have a timer installed. Just after 13 months it does not switch on anymore. It works sometimes after unplugging it for a while. Medion repair told me it will cost A$120 plus parts (it sells for new A$219 at Aldi at the moment). Works for 12 months Does not work after 12 months
Design fault - don't buy! – Worked for about 6 months before becoming difficult to turn on (either from remote or front panel). Medion replaced with another set, but it had buzz in the speakerts, so immediately returned. Third set was OK for another 6 months or so before it too became almost impossible to turn on. Clearly a design problem with this model. When it works… Read more
it's quite acceptable, but reliability is poor and warranty doesn't cover replacement sets past the original warranty period, so you're left without a TV unless you pay for repairs. Ample input choices; can play videos from USB stick. Medion pays return freight (both ways) within warranty period. PVR via USB function never worked; Bugs in the video-from-media delete function; unreliable (won't turn on after about 6 months daily use)..
1 year product life unacceptable – This product worked very well for 1 year. About 1 week out of warranty it would not turn on. After many attempts using power button on TV and remote it occasionally came on and when it came on it worked perfectly. Now I cannot get it to switch on. Being a competent electronic engineer I removed the back of the unit and attempted to look at what… Read more
was wrong. I suspected that the power supply was the culprit. On inspection the power supply was running ok and giving a clean output. Next I suspected that the controller chip clock was not running but on inspection I found this to be ok too. Not having a service manual or schematic I cannot do much more. I will contact Medion regarding this issue but being out of warranty I do not hold much hope of satisfaction. There is clearly a design fault in this product and I believe that Aldi / Medion should give customers that bought this product some compensation even though the product is out of warranty (only just!) For the first year it was a great product Only worked for 1 year
From obiwan674; the response I have received from Medion on my problem has been excellent (5star - faultless)
Beautiful picture, but won't turn on – The first 12 months were problem free, until it stopped turning on at 13 months old. Advice from Medion was to turn it off at the socket, then hold the power button on for 60 secs. This worked a couple of times. No warranty now, so have to decide whether to fix or throw out. Clear picture Won't turn on, no warranty left to get it fixed
