Did amazing service, loved this machine – Bought one second hand from gumtree, cleaned it up and in the intervening years it literally made thousands of cups of coffee for me and partner. It's obviously cheap and luckily we haven't had any service issues with it, just regularly clean it. It's been so convenient an appliance to own! As I can't stand messing around with grinds and portafilters every time, this machine has been awesome.
Brilliant Coffee Machine – Bought from one of those flyby sellers for less than $300 aud with free postage. Have had it for more than a year, makes brilliant coffees, Carmel lattes, hot chocolate and froths mill up quick. Never had a problem. And with everyone complaining about the merol company. They are just a reseller. If you bought from anywhere else you probably have no warranty and why should merol help you? Me-710

called later to see if I was happy with it. I expect it to die soon because it was such a low price and that's the disposable nature of our consumer goods, but it keeps making top coffee every day. Disgusting customer service – I've been using this machine for 2 years. It makes good coffee, however, we had to replace that brown colour part twice as the company sent out the replacement so poorly packaged that it was damaged when it arrived. MERLOT Coffe Machine ME-710 – We bought this unit from shoppingsquare on 28-Feb-2012 Initially it worked OK, then within 6 months stopped. It needed to be recalibrated, over & over & over! In a throw-away society and living in a rural setting, we have come to expect electrical goods to go kaput within 3 months of the warranty expiring, so I suppose we should not complain. On a daily basis & making 2 cups of coffee a day, it has cost us 30¢ a cup + the coffee - which we grow, process & roast ourselves, so no cost there. We are lucky in that regard. As we have only one tree, we also buy green beans through Ministry Coffee, QLD.
Would I recommend this machine? Well, when I spend over $500 on anything, I want to know I am getting value for my dollar and I expect that a well made unit should give many years of service. I sympathize with those people who have not had a good run with their Merlot. So my final analysis is, 'fair'. It makes a good brew when it works, but a good brew also depends on the coffee bean. Buy green and roast your own. The best tasting coffee is made from the 'Geisha' variety bean ... it is absolutely superb, but costs >$60 / kg green!
Have bought two, both have failed - never again! – After reading reviews, I bought an ME-710 as the good reports were excellent. Made great coffees and worked well for a while, but then died (leaking water over an internal electrical transformer [!!!] and then trickling down onto the bench) within 15 weeks from purchase. interstate, a warranty claim seemed pointless. Thought that maybe I had bought that "one a hundred" lemon? Took a punt and bought a second one. It was a later model ME-712, that has now died at about 8 months - same issue, water pouring out onto bench, just like the first one. If you buy a Merol, make sure that you enjoy it while it lasts - as it's not likely to last very long. Great coffe, if it works. Both machines failed within weeks/months - water leaking everywhere!

Makes great coffee. Automatic machine – Really good coffee. Very easy to use with a touch screen control. Simple to clean. Makes coffee from whole beans. We buy organic supplies. Can also use pre ground coffee. Has hot water outlet and a frothier. Cup warmer. Worked well for several years but now requires repairing. Poor product – I bought this coffee machine on the internet, not from Merol. My completely innocent mistake. Hence, support service comes at a prohibitive cost. After 6 months I've given up and have thrown this machine in the rubbish. Fault after fault after fault, I hardly know where to begin describing. Videos on Youtube helped resolve some issues.
Even if I did purchase directly from Merol, the machine is still not of the quality one expects these days. I would have had to freight the machine back to Merol a couple of times at about $50 a pop.
I don't recall the last time I've had any product go faulty within the warranty period, and I've certainly never known of a company to charge (freight) when warranty is rightly exercised. Seriously, nothing Issues with calibration (not dealt with in the manual), grinder stopped working, plus others

they are a division of "asia pacific beverages" i contacted them and they gave me an address to email, no reply i tried to contact "asia pacific" there phone number doesn't connect, so i rang merol aust. only to be told that they wont honor the warranty because i didn't buy the machine from them.they also said that the machine would have to be fixed by their technician in sydney $90.00 + parts .as i live in sydney i was told i could drop the machine off to save postage,when tried to arrange to drop off, i was told it was an online business and i would have to drop it off before 8.ooam or maybe around 6.pm at balmain. i live over the other side of sydney.i tried to arrange a date a week in advance so i could organize to leave work early to drop it off,i work about 3/4 of an hours drive from balmain, only to be told to ring closer to the time i wanted to drop. it off it all got too hard so i pulled the left cover off the machine, drained the water from the pipes....... guess what it is FIXED. thanks for nothing merol. paid $290.00 not worth more. no warranty service.(bad ebay seller. will allways check sellers history from now on.)merol too hard to get serviced.

not usual - to get all the little screws out, and just about completely dismantle it - several hours later - to replace something that should have been simple and easily accessible. It worked great after that, made good coffee & frothy milk for about another 8 months, then something else went wrong. As we are regional queensland it would cost more to send it back than it was worth so decided it was not worth the trouble and after much deliberation tossed it, gone to pod machine couldn't be happier. Great Service – I had lost/misplaced my user manual and sent an email to Merol seeking a replacement or web site address where I could download it from. In under 24 hours I had an email from Rebecca Elias with the manual as an attachment. By the way I have had the machine for 18 months and it hasn't missed a beat
Rubbish - and thats putting it politely – It worked for one week. Then it broke. After taking it back for repair it broke almost immediately again. This happened on multiple occasions. Each time I had to take it back for repair. They refuse to replace or refund for the lemon machine. Don't waste your money - this is a shonky machine. Poor quality. Unprofessional outfit in Balmain.

sent the broken machine back to him. He sent back to me for another $50 a blemished machine with the same problem I originally had. I just called [name removed] back and he told me he doesn't have a fulltime involvement in the business ( he's the Owner!) and to contact someone else at this Backyard Company. We are now close to 12 months since I bought this machine and it's still not fixed. I have since bought a Saeco Syntia and I'm very happy with it. The touch screen does different commands like push for milk and it will grind a coffee etc. the plastic connections inside are cheap & nasty holding hoses (should of used brass). Machine is unreliable when you want a coffee, ive had guests over and it makes 1 but thats it, starts going crazy. The only people to suggest this is a great coffee machine are all the people selling them online & probably dont even own or use. Bit disappointed – Purchased the ME-710 from corrado on eBay about two years ago and paid just over $ 600. Since i had to replace the boiler once, but after only two weeks of its replacement, its back to the some problem.. Great coffee maker – Makes excellent coffee, very adjustable to personal taste, with amount of coffee ground and water level adjustments as well as temperature. It can make double shots with one button press. Grounds container only needs emptying about every 12-15 shots and this is very easy. The machine is fairly easy to clean and maintain and looks good. when one purchases a machine from a third party supplier - as we did on Ebay - they do not accept warranty and charge an extra for repair, their service was outstanding. After calling and leaving my details a lady called Rebecca called me back within 30 minutes abd after I have explained my problem, she has emailed written and detailed instructions how to fix the problem.
The fix has worked and now we can again enjoy our coffees.
I would like to congratulate Merol Australia for the excellent customer service which lots of companies could learn from, especially that we have not purchased the machine from them!

A few hours later, left the next message a no response. Tonight I rang again - no response. All I want is a copy of the operators manual so I can check of troubleshooting solutions (I have no idea where my manual is).
Then, to add insult to injury, I tried to ask for help from the support contact page - it requires an invoice number (no idea where that might be).
I have searched online for a .pdf version of a manual - no joy.
Perhaps, I'll get a call back tomorrow - perhaps.

Faults, faults, faults!! – The problem has been with the front touchscreen display disappearing in start up. This problem first occurred within a month of buying the product. Then the screen came back on & then weeks later off again - its an intermittent problem. Milk does not froth warm enough. Makes fresh coffee Too many faults while still a near new item

Waste of nearly $700 – My Merol coffee machine made about 4 cups of coffee and then stopped frothing. I sent it back for a replacement and got the same one back. new machine withing 7 days. then 2 days later machine broke down saying no water in tank but tank was full, condensation in the lcd again. we demanded our money back but got told no way. in the middle of taking the company to court now. i made a video of machine after it had been sat on our work bench for 9 months whilst we argued with company over refund, turned it on 2 weeks before court and it started to work, it constantly made coffee, emited steam from the nozzle without pushing button, very dangerous if a child would of touched it,said no water in tank,beans empty. basically a really rubbish machine. company told me they only repair not refund,they boast to sell 800 a month, customer after sales service is even worse, company has refused to deal with this for 8 months even after office fair trading got involved,hense why we are taking them to court. just found out where they buy them from. not happy with company at all. under australian consumer law the customer has the right to demand a refund if the product is unsafe,does not do what it is supposed to do or has major faults. i wonder if any of the negative comments on this page have got refunds. company has said no to an extended warrenty on a new machine also, our machines have worked a total of 5 weeks out of the last 52. next step is the accc to lodge complaint

Perfect performance, excellent coffee – Very easy to handle; excellent taste of coffee and cappucino, the price is excellent, other similar machines cost at least double, doing the same thing. After a month I had a small issue and the customer service was immediate and outstanding; my small issue was solved over the phone within 24 hours. This machine is offered by 'others' at least at double of the price
Broke down after 18months – It has been reliable up until it blew up. After 18 months, something blew inside and lots water sprayed and leaked out, so now doesn't work - land fill! It was used only in the mornings only and well maintained. 18 months and now dead - Very poor life span. Better to pay more for quality & reliability. Good all round coffe Dead after 18 months

it!! My old coffee machine was on it's last legs when I discovered by accident the Merol 710. Initially the price made me think I was looking at an inferior product at 1/4 the cost of any other high end machine, but heh, if it lasted 1/4 of the time I would be no worse off. And it's an Australian company!! So I ordered one on a Wednesday at 10am.
It arrived at 10am 2 days later, and within 15minutes of setting it up and watching the "you Tube" presentation I was sampling my first coffee. A couple of "tweaks" later, it was to my taste and ready for my coleagues evaluation. with 2 thumbs up, I'm now on my 2nd kilo of beans. Outstanding!!
I couldn't get the milk hot enough so I sent a quick email to the company on a public holiday, expecting a 2 day response turn-around. Ben from Merol responded that night with a "You tube" reference and a suggestion from his wife. His wife's (a user) suggestion was tested and problem solved.
I have to say....this is a good product sold too cheaply by a company that offers not just good service, but outstanding service!!
would I recommend this product and this company......"Bloody oath!!" I just hope the company is making sufficient margin to maintain the level of service.

Rubbish – Do not buy from day one I had problems sent back at my expense returned four weeks later to only have more trouble leaking screen not working and dumping coffee and just water comming out I have giving up now got a magnifica second hand best coffee ever my merrol is not even 15months old stay clear

screen then presented a calibration screen. The owners manual does not adequately address this, so grumpily I accepted that there would be no coffee and the machine would need to be sent away.
I logged a job (Saturday) and within 30 minutes I was contacted and walked through the solution. This is NOT a fault, but a feature of the machine that enables the user to freely change the beans used.
In a world where customer service has certainly slipped, my hat comes off to Merol Australia and its staff for providing an easy to use fully functional product at an amazing price, and excellent customer service to boot. Reliable, inexpensive Frother could be improved
