Absolute Rubbish – We bought this as our old Miele had run for about 17 years and it was time to let it go. It was suggested to buy this. It was horrible support and Miele does not seem to care. Buy something else. Show details

Stopped working after 70 cycles – Bought the miele G5500 dishwasher from Harvey Norman about 9 years ago. Paid over $2000 by thinking this is a reliable machine. We hardly used it. Now when we select a cycle and start, it shuts down in about 10 seconds. We tried few times by turn off and on from wall socket, but no improvement. It does the same thing without any error code. reading reviews, now I understood why I am NOT able to contact customer service. I think I made a mistake of choosing Miele over Bosch (which my friends suggested. Now they are laughing at me). Note: I already emailed my Full name, state of my residence and contact number about 3 weeks ago to prsupport@miele.com.au. Still no response from team. Very disappointing.

Baskets and fittings falling to bits – Flimsy plastic items have broken on top and bottom baskets rendering the clever, clever adjustability useless. Cutlery tray prongs are crumbling but even worse clips retaining adjustable racks have broken and are now repaired by zip fasteners until we replace this unit with something more robust. No sign of replacements available on their website. Sigh.

EVERY HOME SHOULD HAVE A MIELE DISHWASHER – Purchased this machine in April 2013 when moving to brand new built house (which did have a dishwasher but it was NOT Miele) . I had a Miele with the cutlery tray in my previous home - just could not live without a Miele and particularly one with a cutlery tray. It's a excellent machine - extremely quiet in operation (I often have to check it… Read more

is operating) and washes all of my dishes clean - even a baked on bread and butter pudding dish. The machine dries dishes exceptionally well. It is so easy to load the machine and the cutlery tray ensures that all items are perfectly cleaned. I group all my cutlery and there is no danger of being cut when removing knives from the tray as could happen with a cutlery basket.

I would highly recommend using the Miele tablets which give optimum results, are made for these machines and easy to use - just pop into the dispenser (I read in another review that some people try to remove the cover of the tablet - no need for that - it dissolves in the machine). Cleaning the filter is quick and easy as well as refilling the rinse aid dispenser.

Every three months I clean the machine (75 degree wash - empty machine) using the Miele dishwasher and washing machine cleaning powder and then follow that up using the Miele Dishclean which essentially ensures that seals, inlet and drain of the machine are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.

I would recommend that any one who has a Miele dishwasher clean it as I do on a regular basis - this will definitely keep the machine in good condition.

In a nutshell - this is an excellent machine as are its successors - and people who complain about Miele products should make sure that they are following instructions as per the booklet, cleaning out the filter when the "clean filter" message appears, refilling rinse aid when necessary and generally treating the appliance with respect (not slamming/kicking doors shut) and then berating the appliance that it does not work effectively. There is a saying that bad workmen blame their tools and in the majority of cases it's the user/operator who is at fault and not the machine.

I love this machine – This is the first dishwasher we had bought new after suffering very average pre- house owner dishwashers, and becoming accustomed to doing lots of handwashing-up as well as running the DW. Well, luckily our latest pre-owned machine packed it in and we bought this, our first Miele appliance just over three years ago. And its been bliss. I think we… Read more

really appreciate it after having very average machines previously. It washes superbly, the few times anything is left on the plates is if the stacking was very poor - but you can really get away with a very crowded stack. And it dries really really well, except for a few plastics on the top shelf which just need a bit of a drain. Cutlery tray is great, something i had never considered before but now its a must have, it makes unpacking a breeze. Also you can lay out all those long utensils. Its queit too, which is good as we have an open plan setup so that was a factor in choosing this model. All up very happy customers.

Expensive – We bought our new Miele G5500SCU in June after replacing our old Asko which after 11 years died. We have had 2 Asko dishwashers over the years and loved them. We looked at the Miele and based on the perceived reputation of Miele products and the design features of the G5500 we were hoping to be surprised by this product. However not so. On the… Read more

positive side, the machine is very quiet and in fact sometimes your not even sure it is on. However it is actually more awkward to load than the Asko and whilst the cutlery tray seems an innovative idea, the old basket method is actually more efficient when loading. However to be fair it is easier to unload cutlery from the tray if you sort your cutlery in the tray when loading.

Initially we had issues with items not drying even after we adjusted the drying program. We were using a dishwasher product that supposedly had an in built rinse aid however we have since found the dishwasher still requires rinse aid to completely dry items and not leave marks on the cutlery.

We prefer our old Asko and we don't consider you get value for money on this model.

Pretty Good – Super quiet. The cutlery draw is fantastic, spoons can still be a problem but overall much better than a basket. I love the 'turbo' function which reduces water efficiency but improves speed. I also love intensive lower basket which adds on time but is worthwhile for pots etc. The layout of the bottom rack with plates side by side is great. … Read more

The filter is super easy to pull out to clean. Drawbacks -There are some positions that dessert bowls just don't get washed properly, it goes through heaps of rinse aid, some pots will just never come out perfect, and one of the little clips holding the racks has broken. Overall though pretty good.

Absolute perfection - impeccable design features - never know it is running it is so quiet – We opted for this Miele after years of trusty service from a Bosch. We were sold on the ease of access to filters and the racks that move so easily. You can easily adjust heights and flip holding racks to different positions to suit your requirements. I wasn't convinced by the cutlery rack but thought if I didn't like it I could buy a basket to… Read more

put in the washer but after first use I would never go back to a basket. Cutlery is always clean first time and I am also able to wash pots and larger items first time. As with the Bosch there is no need to rinse before loading - just scrape and load. Only down side is after 4years the cutlery rack is discoloured and missing a few 'teeth/dividers' but it is still performing just as it did when brand new. I clean filters when alerted and run a clean cycle once every 6weeks.

My Dream Dishwasher – Cleans the dishes perfect and is really quiet. It does take a while for the dishes to dry My favourite features are: 1. the separate cutlery tray - just love it 2. The many moveable parts that allows me to fit things in nicely along with the adjustable shelf is great. 3. Very easy to keep clean and always looks elegant in my kitchen  Show details

Great dishwasher...until the main PCB died at 7.5 years – This is our second Miele dishwasher - after the first one was left behind at our previous apartment, we had to buy a new one as we loved the machine and the way is washed - and the cutlery drawer. else to come and check on it. Main PCB dead, $500 just for the part. Considering Miele suggest their machines are tested for 15-20 year life, this is extremely disappointing. I hate the idea of further contributing to landfill, but spending so much on an almost 8 year old machine just doesnt seem worth it.

Wend out today to buy a new machine, and apparently they are not available until February! Miele need to up their game, we are now looking at other similar options like AEG and hope they will be better.

Works Well as it Crumbles – G5500 SCi Type HG03 Made in Germany. Cutlery tray is disintegrating. Prongs are breaking, so it looks like an old comb with teeth broken off. Pity about the rust! – Brought this Miele a few years ago and now find the front panel is starting to rust and there is a spot of rusty water on the floor after each wash. Good-ish – This Miele washes well, and is very quiet. But it constantly falls apart internally. The wheels falls off the drawers, the cutlery drawer comes apart, and the overall design means you end up spending too much time rearranging dishes so they all fit and don't get stuck on the dishwasher drawers.  Show details

A totally useless wimp by comarison with its predecessor – Miserable effort - seems to sacrifice performance for remaining quiet with the result that much remains to be done by hand after yet another disappointing run. Would not recommend at all to anybody. Back to ASKO next time - at least it got the job done and wasn't too shy to let us know it was doing it.

The worst kitchen appliance I have ever purchased – 2 years ago I thought we would update our old Asko dishwasher which we installed when built our house 14 years ago to a much quieter model and Miele was recommended. The machine simply does not clean things properly and even though we thoroughly rinse all our plates and cutlery it will always tell me that the filters need cleaning after only a few washes. I know it seems like a late review (after several years) but having spent so much on the machine I have tried everything I know to get it to work properly however tonight was just the final straw - I threw the plates back in the sink and slammed the dishwasher door shut. Tomorrow its coming out and I will never be installing another Miele product in my house, EVER. A big Zero Star rating from me. Unfortunately i cannot submit this review unless i put at least one star. they said it would be quiet and it was quiet - it's only redeeming feature it simply cannot clean a full load or even half a load for that matter and even when you clean plates etc before putting them into the washer they still come out dirty - it simply will not clean things properly

Disappointed – We bought our Miele dishwasher 2 years ago for $2500. We saved up and paid the expensive price because we've got a Miele washing machine and just love it, and have confidence it will last the 20 years. if there was a cockroach it would be our fault. So when the service guy opened it up what did he see? Cockroaches ... aargg! The Miele lady on the phone must have known! I wonder if this happens often! We get our house sprayed every year and hardly see a cockroach but now we know where they are coming from. The service guy sprayed it all including the electronic board which wasn't even a fault and told it might cost us $700 to get fixed.

Our dishwasher is now sitting in our kitchen all pulled apart and is an obstacle. We did our research and apparently Miele dishwasher attract cockroaches because the heat pad is near the electronics. So my question is why don't Miele seal their dishwashers properly or tell us to seal and spray the area before it goes in. I had MasterKill come out and he said most often than not the cockroaches are in the box that the dishwasher comes in, so they've laid eggs and are our problem as the dishwasher moves into our house. We are so disappointed because we outlaid $2500 thinking we were getting the best!! The cutlery drawer, and it is quiet and cleans great. Cockroach breeder, and the service is not very good.

My hands are on holiday – Never before had I bought a high end dishwasher. I'm totally in love. The trays are ceramic coated giving it a classy feel. The trays are smooth to pull in and out. with it. It makes unpacking so much easier (especially if you sort your cutlery so knives are together etc). I believe Miele are the only company that allows you to take out the cutlery trays so you can unpack them at your drawer. I've never bothered as we have a small enough kitchen.

Plastic dry better than the average dishwasher but not quite perfect. If you open the door after it's finished it seems to complete the job on those tricky plastics. Otherwise it does a great job drying. Expect to still have water on the bottom of upturned mugs etc - it's no miracle worker - but it is definitely less than other brands we've tried.

It cleans so well. I had a pasta bake dish that had been sitting on the bench for a week, unwashed. I could not believe it when I put it in the dishwasher and it came out spotless. I no longer have to wash anything by hand! The sensor wash works well but I love the intensive lower basket option. The pots and pans really works on the pots and pans without destroying your glassware (a problem we've had in the past).

It is very quiet and my autistic child who is sensitive to noise has not asked about it once though it can be audible enough when it lets the water out.

I believe it was worth every cent. There is no longer any stress when we see the dishes piling up (even baked on foods!) as we just fill the dishwasher and get back on with our busy lives. It fits quite a lot in it, definitely more than our last one.

The only thing I dislike is that large mugs are a little awkward to fit it but it does work and this is really a stretch for a negative.

Honestly, I can't imagine why anyone would be unhappy having a Miele. I've had it for over a month now and it's heaven. Quiet, cleans thoroughly, dries well, powerful yet gentle, heaps of space expensive (but worth it)

Good dishwasher, well worth the money – I have had my dishwasher for 6 months. We bought it as a way to save time and money. don't use salt I find it still cleans really well. I like that it can be hooked up directly to the hot water line to reduce dish washing cycles.

Dishes always come out clean, all the cutlery, and ceramic dishes always come out dry, plastics are sometimes wet, I think this depends on how soon after the cycle finishes til you open the door. Some of my mugs hold a little water on their bottoms when they're upside down and this could be cause they're curved, but my glasses are spotless. It handles fine glassware like long stemmed wine glasses which is a plus.

I always use the quantum dish tabs, miele dishwasher salt, either finish or miele rinse aid. It can be connected directly to the hot water valve. Dishes always come out clean.

Disappointed – We purchased our new Miele dishwasher in June of 2012. either Bosch or Miele. (Brandt were not easily available in our region.) We have never been so disappointed in our choice of product, a Miele G5500SCU. Though it hasn't failed to date we are most unhappy with its results. Crockery left dirty, cutlery left dirty, pots and pans left dirty, crockery and glasses not dried adequately and sometimes left only partially clean; no matter the settings used. Though this doesn't occur every wash it has happened way too frequently. We have altered the powder used, the rinse aid used and tried different settings to improve consistency. All to no avail; all over 6 months of testing. Very disappointing. We wish we had of imported a Brandt. We've spent close to $2000.00 and been severely dissatisfied with the Miele results. It would have been more cost effective and easier on the mind to have imported a Brandt. It would also have been more environmentally cost effective. Having to rewash items either by hand or running through another cycle, which is not always successful, does not help our environment. One of the few makes to fit under the kitchen bench. It is as quiet in operation as the former Brandt. Inconsistent cleaning and drying of crockery and cutlery.

Best dishwasher ever – Amazing dishwasher. Has the two normal baskets and a cutlery tray at the top of the washer. The cutlery tray is amazing - fits more cutlery than a basket, and ensures the cutlery is separate and not touching, so it all comes out cleaner. The tray is divided into 3 sections and is movable from side to side, so if you need more room in the top… Read more

baset, part of the cutlery tray can simply slide over. The middle section is deeper, so holds whisks and utensils.. it also moves up and down, increasing or decreasing the space to fit what you need in there. Cutlery tray is extra awesome as you don't have the silly cutlery basket in the bottom taking up space.

The top basket is movable - moves up and down 3 levels. All the other bits flip down as well, depending on what you need to fit in there.

Bottom drawer also has flippy bits, so there's no spikes getting in the way of bit pots, and no bent spikes from trying to shove said pots in.

All the movable / flippy bits are orange, so they can be seen easily. While the Bosch is movable as well - I preferred the orange on the Miele as I had a hard time finding which part is the 'moveable' part on the Bosch. While the Bosch is similar (but cheaper), I chose to go with the Miele as it had a few more movable bits, and I found it a lot less flimsy.

The Miele washes well - I have put heavy soiled items in on quickwash to see how well it works - minus a few small spots, everything came out perfect, including pots.

It's so quiet. I forget that it's on until the water starts running. Quiet, spotless washing, fits EVERYTHING. Most accomodating appliance I have ever dreamed of. "oh, you need more space to fit your champagne glasses?.. here you go!"

Washes just so well & whisper quiet.
