Have replaced washing machine and now my ~10 year old Miele G5715 is failing...have replaced motherboard once already. Now stuck with F78 code. 20 June and I was expecting them to be more aware of this habitual problem with this model however I simply got the company line. This did not fill me with confidence not to mention they challenged me on how I may have looked after the product, not an ideal start. They simply gave the same script and the decision to repair or replace was not clear without costing customer again. Clearly it's a known problem from every consumer website I've been to. Sold on 20 years reliability but told by Mile customer support at nine years "that's an old machine". Would just like some clarity here and a positive way forward would be appreciated.

with me I cannot electrically test the motor, but after pulling the impeller apart, found it to be in extraordinarily good condition, likewise for the rest of the machine. I have been quoted $200 for a service call which includes 15 minutes of time, then an additional $40 per 15 minute block. Far out, as a qualified electrician, I wouldn’t be charging these rates. The likely result of a service call will be that a replacement pump is required, this will then run into a $700-$1000 repair, plus the original service call. I feel that this is throwing good money after bad, and after Mum being told that this machine would last 20 years, this is very disappointing for a premium brand. Well my time with Mum was not wasted though, I was able to repair her swivel upright Miele vacuum which she is thrilled about. Note that Mum can’t find the receipt of purchase but thinks she bought it in August 2013 from Harvey Norman. After being contacted by Miele customer service, my Mum is happy with the outcome after receiving a discount on a new Miele machine. Miele were very responsive to my concerns, and Mum is very happy with her new machine which was delivered promptly. Thanks Miele.

when it was installed by Miele I was told it would last 20 years. As I have been living alone for the past 7 years and it's not used on a daily basis I imagined I would maybe get a bit longer but sadly not - the F78 came without warning - I was even more disappointed to see so many other customers suffered the same issue, Can you explain why?

Paid for a premium item, spent a premium to keep it running! – Bought our unit about 10 years ago, used it for a year and then we went away for 2 years. upon return it has cost us a bomb each year to maintain constantly having to replace parts. We have spent nearly as much to keep it running as the intitial purchase price! Repairer has recommended replacing as a new one starts at $1599, they didn't realise this isn't the base model and would cost more to replace. Loved how the dishwasher cleaned but disappointed they don't get the lifespan the sales staff are pitching with them!

F78 error after 8 years. No service support from Miele – This dishwasher performed really well for about 8 years, until like many of the other reviewers I experienced the F78 error which requires the motor replaced. I contacted Miele service and are yet to hear a response three weeks later. When you pay $2600+ for a dishwasher, you expect it to last more than 8 years. circulation pump issue and would be $900 all up to fix. It sounds like a common error with this particular Miele dishwasher model so it is not surprising it has been discontinued. The consolation prize was from the Technician was if we purchased another Miele dishwasher, we could offset the $175 service cost against the price of the new one! Wow, how generous! We decided it was not worth it to have it repaired. Like others, we brought a Miele at the time which cost us aver $2K because we where told it would be well worth the money and it will keep going for many many years as the quality is superior to other brands. BUT 8 years on it seems that this is no longer the case as I was expecting to get a lot more than 8 years. Not happy at all as not not worth the money (we had a SMEG before which lasted 10 years and decided to 'upgrade' to a Miele at double the cost!! Were we taken for a ride, and unfortunately just before lockdown we purchased $20K worth of oven, microwave, warner and induction cook top! Well judging on the performance of the Miele dishwasher, we are going to be VERY disappointed AGAIN. Miele never again.

Main circuit board failed - very expensive to repair – Our machine is out of warranty, but we are very occasional users (once a month at most, usually for dinner parties). It was well looked after and had no problems till recently, when it simply wouldn't switch on. A technician identified a blown chip on the main circuit board, with a subsequent quote of $435 ($460 including labour). If we add the original call-out, we are close to $600 if we go ahead with it. cost us $165 for the pleasure. The technician also advised he was attending to many callouts with a similar circulation pump issue. We've just received the quote for the new pump of $652 plus labour to get the new pump installed. So, on a machine that is only just 5 years old, we now need to spend around $1k just to get it repaired which seems ridiculous! We were told Miele machines were worth the extra dollars upfront for their quality and reliability. Seems this is no longer the case.

2 weeks When it works its extremely quiet and efficient - when it doesn't it takes a long time to fix and very expensive. Last break down was within warranty period but they declined liability because they said there was evidence of cockroaches. Really ? Technician cleared the fault from the motherboard and said if we bought a new machine they would credit us for the service call fee. We declined and machine has worked fine until the current problem some 6 months later. Not really sure how a cockroach could get into a sealed unit There are only 2 of us and the machine runs a maximum of once a day and is rarely more than half full - we use the Quick Wash 40 degree cycle and maybe once every two or three months the Pots & Pans 75 degree cycle with the machine empty to clean the unit out. We do not use the machine for heavily soiled items. Based on the error message "open stopcock" which means a water flow problem and having performed all instructions from Miele the machine still has the same error message which means either I believe a door issue or a motherboard problem Am just waiting for the tech to tell me its $500-$1000 for parts at which time I will ask him to disconnect the dishwasher and help me load it into my ute to take to the tip ( I'm 67 so can't carry it on my own) I cannot say how disappointed we are that I spent the amount of money we did to supposedly get the best quality in the market and this is what we got I am a realist and understand that things do break down but with 3 problems for the amount of money paid I think is a bit much. Our daughter bought a lower model Smeg at the same time, at a much lower price, gives it a real workout with a family and it has worked faultlessly If I get rid of the Meile based on cost to repair, I will be buying a Bosch at half the price which has fantastic reviews The irony is that we bought a Meile front load washing machine and dryer combo at the same time and they have worked faultlessly

Disappointing – Machine is 8 years old and the circulation pump is leaking from the diverter casing as well as from the drip hole at the bottom of the pump. quoted $492 for a new pump and recommended a service call to check the issue. Given that the machine also has occasional drainage problems, has had a previous electronic issue (which Miele kindly addressed outside of warranty) and the front panel is starting to rust, I have serious doubts regarding the quality of the appliance and cannot risk spending the money for the repair, which at a minimum would probably cost between $700 and $800 with the cost of the part and the service call. Miele offered to subtract the cost of the service call from the purchase of a new machine if I decided not to go ahead with the repair, but given this experience I cannot justify paying Miele prices for a machine that is no more reliable or durable than much cheaper products. In conclusion, unreliable machine, expensive to buy and service. On a positive note, Miele customer service has been responsive and helpful.

RUST! – This is the second time I have had to call Miele for a rust problem. The first time, they had to replace front panel where controls are so obviously this is an admission that there was rust. Given the exorbitant cost of repair, we are considering replacing it. And given that replacing with the equivalent brand/model will cost $2600, we are looking at other brands. For example, I just had a quick look and a new Fisher & Paykel will cost just over $800. Maybe it's not in the same league as a Miele but I'm sure it'll do a decent job.

For the price and the control Miele have on pricing their products (you can't negotiate), I would have expected more.

costs on top to find out where the leak is, and the warranty to this spend is only 12 mths. We have no choice but to give it up on this 6 yr old dishwasher. This brand used to be considered as the Rolls Royce in the industry but now is not as reliable and last as long as my old Smeg one. It is seriously disappointing. However, to be fair, when it was operational, it was pretty good to manage our daily load. My only gripe is it does not have a simple pre-wash program, to get rid of the residues first if not fully loaded.

issue. I think you can probably buy a good alternative brand dishwasher for this amount. It seems that Miele products are not as good as they once were. We purchased a Meile top of the range dryer and this had to be exchanged after a couple of months use. Not worth spending $1200 for no guarantee fix - time to look at another brand.
