Turns itself off all the time - frustrating – Bought this brand new in the sealed box off a Gumtree seller. He worked at Harvey Norman and he had won it at a Miele Training Day and didn't want it. (Verified this with the store). Love Miele products. Bad point: This product turns itself to a cleaning cycle after about a minute and a half of vacumning. The orange light comes on and it… Read more

ticks ticks ticks for 30 secs before firing up and re-starting. Then about 5 mins later a red light comes on and it drops right down to a low whirr for about another 30 secs before firing up again. This happens more on turbo.

We don't have pets or kids and live in a small apartment so it's not hardcore vacuming at our place. Anyway this is very frustrating and takes ages to the vacumning. It is heavy. Suction on turbo is great. Heaps of hairs get stuck in the rotating turbo head though and you have to cut them out with a Stanley knife. Disgusting.

There is not small brush for doing the lounge or dusting. Had to buy a generic one from Godfreys for $14.95. The 2 onboard tools are the sticky beak and a small brush with no bristles. OK to empty - not brilliant. Being a Miele wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Notice they have come down in price significantly since before Xmas ($900 - $850) now ($450-$550).

Love this vacuum! – To be fair I didn't actually buy this vacuum for myself. It was a hand-me-down from my parents who were serial vacuum buyers. They didn't like it as they thought it was too heavy (stairs) and preferred their bagless vacuum cleaners (which I hate). My brother also rejected this due to the weight, but for me living in a single level house I don't… Read more

find it a problem at all, and the weight seems consistent with the sturdiness, durability and power that you get with this vacuum. I love that there are different settings with different power levels for different surfaces, mats, curtains etc - even a quiet setting. I like all the different attachments stored neatly inside too - at first I didn't even realise they were there, and the quality of the disposable fabric bags, though expensive, is great. As one of the other reviewers said, it makes vacuuming such a pleasure. It is so easy. I have had this for a while now and it has held up well, apart from being exposed to the share house treatment where someone managed to scratch the handle and vacuum head to bits and break the mechanism that allows the brushes underneath to retract (to change from hard floors to carpet). The vacuum also doesn't close as securely now after replacing the bag, but I don't believe that is a flaw with the product itself, moreso enduring extremely rough treatment by someone who had no respect or appreciation for it, and I believe that most other vacuums would have come out a lot worse. I bought a new hard floor brush which is great and I can see this lasting many more years to come. I much prefer it over flimsy, bagless vacuums with low power. Sturdy, powerful, attractive, easy to use expensive, and expensive bags, but I believe the quality is there

Excellent – A great vacuum cleaner and highly recommended. Despite a few minor quibbles, it seems to be very robust, quiet and easy to use. If you're like me and just hate vacuuming, this machine almost makes the job a pleasure and certainly cuts down vacuuming time. What a great vacuum cleaner, with lots of good features. It is very quiet (I can actually use… Read more ·  1

it without donning a pair of ear muffs), and has phenomenal and variable suction power. All components are very sturdily built, and include click-in (rather than slip-on) attachments. Having previously owned various barrel vacuum cleaners, none of which lasted more than 10 years, I was actually on the lookout for a bagless vacuum cleaner, but after reading various reviews, decided to invest once again in a barrel type. With a dog in the house and living near the beach, I needed something that was good at picking up all that dog hair and sand that she regularly brings in and this seemed to fit the bill.

This vacuum cleaner is just super efficient at picking up everything and one pass over the floor seems to pick up everything (unlike my previous machines.) It has an extra long cord (very handy when vacuuming the car), a really long telescopic metal wand which is very useful for getting under beds and furniture and a good array of accessories, some of which are held on-board the cleaner. I particularly like the turbo brush head for carpets and mini-turbo head which is so useful for cleaning car carpet and seats, and yes, it does actually pick up all that fluff and hair from the car seats. The variable power control is especially useful for vacuuming curtains and delicate items. It is the only vacuum cleaner I have had to date where the cord actually retracts properly into the body of the vacuum cleaner, unlike other machines where, if you're not careful, the power plug can be easily damaged. The cleaner is rather heavy, but it glides effortlessly over all sorts of flooring surfaces, so once you remove it from its storage space, the weight is not a problem. The filters too work very well - you don't get that dreadful smell of dust coming from the machine whilst vacuuming, something that seems to be all too common with other vacuum cleaners. All in all a very robust and easy to use machine. Really Miele, why not a re-usable bag and filter? In this age of conservation, disposable bags are really a no-no, even if they are large. Surely German ingenuity can develop a bag that can be re-used at least a few times? I know the dust bags are not super expensive, but re-usable would be so much better. At least people should have the option of disposable or re-usable.

The end of the wand can also do with some form of rubber/plastic protector. The metal wand is quite sharp and can scratch floor surfaces if you use it without an attachment on the end. The machine is a little pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for and there a plenty of discounts available if you spend a bit of time searching them out.

Outstanding – This is my second Miele vaacum. The first one worked every day non stop for 10 years. This one is just as good. I have a short haired inside dog and even though the hairs aren’t visible on the carpet the Miele picks them up no problem. Hepa filter makes sure you are getting nice filtered air back in your room and not dust. Love the throw away… Read more

bags, no mess, no dust. It has two heads, one fixed for hard floors and a head with sweeper rollers for your carpet. Adjustable suction so you can do the curtains and the couches if you so choose. The only down side to this machine is that if you aren’t super gentle when pulling it along it will have a tendency to roll on it’s side. No biggy, just reminds me to slow down a bit. Will buy another when this one dies.

What a solid product, pity it is now discontinued – Easy to maneuver, great suction performance on all surfaces. The filters need to be regularly cleaned to ensure maximum performance, but I'm guaranteed that it's actually removing dust from the air rather than simply recycling the dust back into the air. Really does extract human & pet hair, for me it was 3 women in the house...  Show details

Stopped Working after 5 Years – For some reason the filter block keeps popping out when the vacuum is switched on. This happened in the 5th year of purchase. This creates a shocking sound and the whole vacuum looks like it is about to burst from air pressure. I will not be using it anymore. Paid too much for it to be doing this. What happened to appliances that last 15-20 years? Urban legend?  Show details

Suction doesn’t last very long – I was foolish enough to buy a second one of these vacuum cleaners after the first one lost suction after less than 5 years. Power lasted even less on the second. I find you need to replace the bag once it’s half full as that helps a little with the suction power. My sister had one as well and same thing happened to her. Unfortunately it’s put me off the brand in general.  Show details

Going on 9 years – I decided to buy this vacuum after our previous other branded vacuum died after only a couple of years. My mum has always used this cat/dog vacuum and it deals with a lot of stress in her house so I was already impressed. It felt like an investment. animal. I now also have a dog and a third child. The vacuum hasn’t faulted. It’s powerful, it has good settings such as quiet mode and rug mode etc. My kids love to vacuum and wipe putting it on the quiet mode makes it easy for them to move it around. It has three spots on the unit for the hose to connect to which I absolutely love. Nine years on and the clip on the head unit hasn’t snapped off which did on my previous branded vacuum. Miele is definitely a brand which proves time and time again that spending a little bit of money result in a quality product. My mum had her handle break and even though it was out of warranty it was replaced. I’m not saying that would happen every time but customer service dealt with her in such a kind way.

It’s powerful but heavy – We bought it for our family as it was bagless and powerful, even though we don’t have cats. It doesn’t have long handle for dusting, Very short , at the beginning we couldn’t even get how to use it . Then it worked 2-3 times and it broke . Very very powerful – The suction is so powerful. I have carpet all over my home and when I switch the suction to strong, I cannot even move it around therefore, I’m very sure that it has gotten all the things I cannot see that’s buried deep in the carpet, let along cat hair. It’s easy to maneuver compared to other vacuums with cords.  Show details

Excellent – Owned mine for almost 8 years never skipped a beat. Used mainly on carpet, suction is still excellent despite age. Use genuine bags as others have caused problems sealing tightly enough. A really good workhorse over 10 years. Powerful suction – Have been happy with this vacuum cleaner as its about 10 years old and gets used 2-3 times per week. Has not broken and parts even though plastic have withstood lots of rough usage. The suction is excellent and has remained so. My only 2 criticisms are that the vacuum cleaner seems to tip over quite a lot although I guess they all do and its… Read more

likely me going too fast. My other criticism is the cost of bags. Up to $36 for 4 bags which I normally need to change every one to 2 months. So far have not been able to find a cheaper generic and ones I found online resulted in a faulty seal and dirt in behind the filter. Would buy this brand again for reliability, durability and suction. 2 large heads one with a rotating brush are good for picking up hair.

Reliable and durable – Our Miele Cat and Dog vacuum cleaner is still performing well after 14 years. It has never broken down and provides a lot of suction to clean deep into our carpets. The turbo head needs regular cleaning as it collects a lot of hair which eventually binds up the roller and prevents it spinning. This aside I would definitely recommend Miele vacuum cleaners.  Show details

Great Vacuum – I'm happy with the vaccumm it is consistant in quality but the hard floor head isnt the greatest so I just use the carpet one. It's got a quiet function which is great when the kids are in bed. I have half carpet and half vinyl. I'd say its fantastic on carpets and average on hard floors  Show details

Powerful! – Vaccum is very light and easy to carry around. Suction is powerful, however on maximum power with the turbo head it is very hard to move. I just turned down the power and it was much easier. Cleans very well compared to my previous vaccum. Vaccum is not overtly loud , it is ok Love the vaccum. Takes half the time to clean my car too.  Show details

5 star – Brilliant suction and has lasted 8 years, love the heba filter to keep everything extra clean. Quite loud but gets job done. I would love convenience of a cordless as I'd probably use one more than this. Really gets the grime and dirt off floors with power head. Will definitely replace it with another Miele when the sad day comes if it dies.  Show details

Top top Vacuum – I've had this vacuum for some time now and I can honestly say it's brilliant. The suction is very strong and it picks up so much dirt and hairs. Early days but works a charm. Easy to use and lifts the carpet knap to really clean and reduce "matt – Have had it for 4 weeks now and love it for reasons above. Great adjustable suction and the active turbo head really lifts the texture of the carpets and I think will reduce matting in frequently walked upon areas. If you can find one - great buying although ours doesn't have buttons on wand. If major prob get onto Office of Fair Trading don't accept just discount on replacement machine.

Love it, works so well – Love it, the suction is amazing. Bags are super cheap only $6 for a box. Long cord, really can't fault it. It's not particularly quiet, but that really doesn't affect me. I only have wooden floors and tiles and it works perfectly on those areas. I imagine it could be a little annoying on stairs.

Didn't last – Only had this for 2 years and it's had very little use. Today it burnt out and miele just offer a little discount for me to put towards a new one. Henry lasted much longer and is less than half the price. Total rubbish

It sucks – We had it for several years. The wand buttons broke, the plug pin bent and shorted out, the spring in the lid has popped out, the hose handle has now snapped and worst of all the hose bends all the time. The first one we brought home didn't work out of the box. Suction is strong Everything breaks on it

Miele Cat & Dog vacuum cleaner – Very disappointed in my Miele which I bought in 2010. First problem with it was static electricity shocks every time I used it (on wool carpets) so had to wear a wristband to 'earth' myself! Just out of guarantee it started whining and wouldn't pick up anything. Took it to a specialist who said the part holding the filter had broken off and… Read more

air was coming in causing the noise; it would cost £75 odd for a complete replacement top. I have ordered this but it is taking ages to come from Germany. Repairer said he'd had many complaints about Miele vacuums and didn't know why people went for these German cleaners when there were far superior British ones on the market much cheaper. Having invested a lot of money in the Miele I've decided to get a new top for it so that it isn't a complete write-off. However, can't keep waiting for the part so have bought a Henry at half the price (which I am told is virtually indestructible). My advice is to buy British in future. Attractive looking and compact. Filter clip broke off and cleaner ceased to work.

Excellent – I am a domestic cleaner vacuuming 5 days a week. I choose to take my own Miele to others houses than use those dust sucking Dysons or other bag-less craps. The German ones are great. You can feel the suction. I have never come across another vac cleaner with such suction. Not the prettiest looking vac around.

Good – This is an expensive model and although I'd probably say it's worth the cost I hoped for better. NOT SO GREAT!! – Being in what I believe is medium price range, at $600 I would expect more. Excellent – On my budget this was a really big purchase, but I feel confident that this machine will last for years to come. all first time, it's more than cut my vacuuming time in half and it cleans twice as well. Couldn't recommend this one highly enough. I brought this after reading reviews about Miele vacuum cleaners in general and haven't regreted it for a second. These vacuum cleaners are expensive, but worth every cent. The Cat & Dog Max model I purchased came with a large turbo brush (for pet hair etc.), a mini turbo brush (great for upholstery), a normal head for carpets and a bonus one for hard floors - talk about covering all your needs. I can't say I've found a thing wrong with this vacuum yet. It's easy to manoeuvre, as it's not too heavy and the wand and head swivel in every way imaginable to get into and out of tight places. The wand extends enough so that even my 6 foot 3" boyfriend can vacuum standing up straight. The only con is that I've found myself wasting precious time staring mindlessly at my now beautifully clean cream carpet!
