 AI reviews summary

The overall sentiment for Myer is overwhelmingly negative, primarily driven by critical failures in their online shopping infrastructure and customer support. While individual in-store experiences occasionally receive high praise for helpful staff, these are overshadowed by systemic issues including delivery to incorrect addresses, unresponsive service channels, and poor logistics management.

Pros
Exceptional In-Store Staff: Specific team members at branches like Penrith, Joondalup, and Melbourne CBD are praised for being knowledgeable, patient, and going above and beyond to assist customers.
Quality Fragrance and Beauty Service: The fragrance counters at major city stores are highlighted for professional service and expert product recommendations.
In-Store Facilities: Some flagship locations are noted for high-quality amenities, such as spacious and well-lit change rooms.
Occasional Delivery Efficiency: A small segment of users reported reliable service and faster delivery times compared to direct competitors.
Cons
Address and System Glitches: A significant recurring issue involves the online system defaulting to years-old addresses or merging address data, with Myer refusing to cancel or redirect orders even when notified within minutes of purchase.
Unreliable Courier Partners: Frequent complaints target third-party delivery services (CouriersPlease, Hunter Express, and Aramex) for lost parcels, "ghost" deliveries, and damaged goods due to poor handling.
Inaccessible Customer Support: Users report extreme difficulty reaching human agents, with many being trapped in "loops" with unhelpful AI chatbots, facing long phone wait times, or being abruptly disconnected.
Fulfilment and Packaging Errors: Multiple reports cite receiving incorrect items, products arriving with security tags still attached, or fragile items (like cookware and ceramics) being shipped without protective wrapping.
Verdict

While Myer remains a viable option for traditional in-store shopping where staff can provide immediate assistance, their online platform is currently unreliable and high-risk. Consumers are advised to avoid online orders for time-sensitive gifts or high-value items due to significant systemic failures in delivery and post-purchase support.

1 Belinda  · Click and collect order takes a long time. No communication from Myer. Get better service from Kmart
1 Zip it   · Dont buy online as very poor service. They take 30mins to answer a call and 20 days to still not deliver and not way to track ridiculous
1 David  · Its a disgrace dont expect to call and talk to anyone. Go elsewhere for your business.
1 Luruh  · Do not buy clothes anymore in Myer in online the did not check before dispatched, after washing I found torn in bottom nighties they did not responsible
1 Hareg N.  · They delivered the wrong item and they said I they will not refund my money

I ordered various items online totalling ~$600. One of the items was originally priced at $99.95 and reduced to $69. There was an advertising note on the product page stating “Take a further 40% off”. On reviewing the confirmation email I realised the further 40% discount had not been applied to that specific item - I was effectively overcharged.… Read more

I called them and they offered me a store credit for the overcharge. I refused this as I believe the overcharge should be returned by the same method of payment as the purchase (ie back onto my card). I emailed their customer care team and a manager acknowledged the overcharge but stated they could not cancel or part-refund an order (per Myer policy) and again offered me a gift card for the overcharged amount. After much back and forth they finally offered another solution which was that I could return the item once I had received it for a full refund. Too bad if I wanted the item and also that it will require me to expend more time/energy to make the return. I am extremely disappointed in Myer.

Myer is terrible with on line orders. Don’t buy anything from Myer on line if you need it with in a month! There is hardly any communication. I’m still waiting on an order three weeks ago. I could have bought from the store had I known this was going to take so long. I ordered on line because I was in transit, and thought it would only take one week. Disgusting behaviour from both the security and store staff at myer Liverpool. This is not the first time I've experienced this, and it's certainly not the first time I've shopped there. This review was rejected when I submitted it to Myer. They said it didn't meet their requirements. I had written, "Disappointed on two counts. Firstly, the quilt rustles as if it is stuffed with starch tissue paper. Secondly, I was fooled by the map of Australia on the box. It is made in China." I was originally concerned because when I had… Read more

Anothetr dissapointing online order. Damaged gift boxes. I have understood Myer have no processes and standards in place to make online shopping an option or a good experience, zero convenience. Happy to shop elsewhere. I

Review for the product Delonghi coffee machine – Purchased product on 28/02/2024 online. Hardly used. While using the milk frother instead of steam, water comes out diluting the milk. Friends advised to take it back as faulty, took it back, asked for refund or gift card to buy possibly another coffee machine, however, since it was beyond one month suggested to repair it. Issue still persists. Very unhappy as product does not fit description. This time filmed as yo what happens.

Ordered over $300 worth of homewares from Myer and the items arrived smashed to pieces due to appalling packaging. Multiple dishes and porcelain items were loose in a box with virtually no protective wrapping whatsoever. I cut my hands unpacking broken shards and now also have to deal with disposing of dangerous broken goods myself. After DAYS of… Read more

back and forth, being left on hold for over an hour during business hours and chasing missing items, Myer’s response was to offer a pathetic $40 gift card.

Not only is that insulting given the damage and safety risk involved, but they also initially expected me to keep unsafe shattered items in my home and organise disposal myself.

This entire experience has shown:

Extremely poor packaging standards Terrible customer service No accountability No understanding of consumer rights or basic customer care

A premium department store charging premium prices should not be sending dangerous broken goods through the mail with no care taken in packaging.

I will not be ordering homewares from Myer online again.

I wanted to purchase a couple of Sass and Bide items and missed the cut-off from their direct website so I had no other option than to purchase through Myer online. I decided to exercise some patience. However after waiting all that time I was horrified when my delivery show up. A small to medium post pack showed up looking like it had a ball inside and when I opened it indeed what I found was my otherwise beautiful palazzo pants and fine mesh skirt both just stuffed in carelessly, both rolled in balls like they'd been thrown in a dirty laundry hamper. I'm just flabbergasted that Myer think this is acceptable!

Very disappointing experience with Myer. I purchased a coverlet and matching pillowcases that were clearly advertised as a pair, only to receive a single pillowcase. I bought a set of four teacups and saucers, which really were just individual items sold together, each of them having its own price sticker and could be sold individually. When they got delivered, one of the saucers was broken, so I took it to Myer for exchange. The staff member there was incredibly rude to me, and told me that I had to bring… Read more

the whole set back for a refund, and to then buy the set again. I told her that the saucer was the same as the one sold individually (and I'd brought a new one down from the homeware department for exchange, which had the same price sticker as the one on the broken saucer), but she kept insisting that she "didn't make the rules" and that she was right. One of her colleagues then intervened to say that it's possible to exchange just one saucer, but also that her colleague's position was also right (an impossible assertion).

A few weeks later I got an email from Myer inviting me to write a review of the set for a chance to enter into a sweepstake. I mentioned that it was a horrible experience getting a broken dish exchange. I then got an email back from Myer alleging that I had not met their requirements in review. Having looked at the requirements again, there wasn't one that I even came close to breaching, but of course Myer doesn't like people sharing the ugly truth of their horrible customer service.

I then forwarded the email chain to their customer service, and after multiple attempts at asking them to read the chain, all I got back were four requests to provide information on what happened, and two requests for me to clear my cache before posting. One even asked me to confirm my "full name, phone number, and email first".

This level of incompetence is unbelievable, particularly for a large company like Myer. Its customer service team can't deal with an accusation that Myer made against its own customer. I will post images of the emails, so you can judge for yourself.

WELL! To say I’m annoyed is an understatement! They sent me the wrong product. ok, she’d process and when they got the item back they’d send. No problems. 4 days after receiving notification they’d received the incorrect item back from Australia post i still had no communication so called them, they were all “yeah, it’s an acceptable time frame still” so wouldn’t even follow it up. They requested via email i do a review, so I did one outlining my shopping experience and received the below notification from them saying it wouldn’t be published! Obviously moderating consumer dissatisfaction, so that made me furious enough to share it here. PS a month after my initial order i still don’t have the correct product which I ordered for a trip I was taking. Last ever online shopping purchase from Myer, they are useless and their service is non existent. Have attachéd my original review along with their response. Nothing to moderate in it, just not what they wanted to hear obviously!

We purchased three dinner sets from Myer at Westfield Chermside. When we reached home, we realised that one of the sets was a display item and that one piece was missing from each set. The dinner set costs $229.95, which is not inexpensive. My wife requested a brand-new set, and the staff member took one from the shelf. When my wife asked whether we needed to check the contents, the staff member responded, “If you want, you can check.” This did not feel professional.

what they are packing? This is the 2nd time it happened to me. Well, yes i can return for a refund, but that’s not the point. First for first time, (Myers normally very good), an item was an attempt delivery to my place. Normally then I get a message to let me know it is at my local post office. A couple of weeks after the order I view Track my Order and it stated the… Read more

courier driver attempted delivery and the item was being held. It stated the driver left a card. No the driver didn't leave a card. In fact cards haven't been left for sometime now you get a text. The destination of the parcel was not listed. I rang Myer Customer Service and they too couldn't work where the parcel has been left. The customer service operator told me she would get back to me. Three days later, she hasn't. I ring again. The next customer service officer put me through to store purchases (I told him it was in fact an online purchase. He still transferred me. In fact he couldn't wait to 'pass the buck'). So of course the girl I was put through to then states I need to ring customer service as they don't do online. I told her I had in fact rung customer service. Very frustrating I told her my story yet again and she said well clearly the issue is with the courier. Wrong! Myer subcontract to the Couriers. It was Myers parcel, I have paid for it, I don't have it and I don't know where it is. I can't contat the couriers so why am I being disadvantaged? Second girl also tells me she will get back to me. Has she, no of course not. It is clearly rhetoric. I am extremely disappointed (of course you can't email Myers only phone. That is not suitable and doesn't work. They give you the distinct impression they don't care and can't wait to end the call as quickly as possible). This was meant to be a birthday present for a birthday which has now passed. So I have no choice but to post this. Perhaps Myers will get in touch and do something now. I wish I had read previous reviews on this site. Clearly the Couriers are hopeless and have care factor of zero. Terrible drivers and quite rude and very unfriendly. Certainly bringing myers business down. I have no choice but to go to ACCC now. Never buying from Myers online again. Jenny N

resolved directly with the seller.

I called Myer twice seeking assistance, but on both occasions I was told that nothing could be done and that I would simply have to wait for the courier. Given how quickly I contacted Myer after placing the order, I find it unreasonable that no attempt could be made to amend or cancel the order before dispatch.

This has been a very frustrating experience and falls well below the level of customer service I would expect. Customers should be able to receive assistance with a simple address correction when reported promptly after purchase.

I would appreciate this matter being reviewed and a response provided regarding why no action could be taken despite my immediate efforts to resolve the issue.

The customer support experience was honestly one of the worst I’ve dealt with from an online retailer. It genuinely felt no different to dealing with an online chatbot.
