lifetime updates – Bought this due to the lifetime updates, apart from having trouble finding the site to update, it doesn't accept it, have tried several times and still havent been able to update, so id be checking out how to update/use site before purchasing or your just wasting your money. Battery doesn't last overly long either so have to leave it on charge all the time, which is a nuisance with cords dangling everywhere.
Not a patch on the original – Feedback - navig8tor. Its disappointing compared to original one. must know address exactly now. old one allowed just the street and offered suburb choices, now must have number. just a street will not work! So if the navigator disagrees with an entered address, it refuses to go any further. he original one I had would offer an alternative… Read more
suburb close to the one you selected. Also did not have to have a number to creat directions. If navig8tor does have the number, it will not accept your request, so you have to keep putting in numbers until it will direct you to the street.
Basically it is a very limp program.
Map upgrades a farce – So much for free lifetime upgrades - last one was March 2013. Both Navig8r and map supplier blame each other. New Hunter Expressway opened end March 2014. Google Earth showing it within a couple of days, no Navig8r update yet - even though took 3 years to build. Now being sent wrong way around Newcastle. Other features such as speed zones, school… Read more
times, quick routes etc quite good. Looking for a different one now, some actually have 4 map upgrades a year. Lots of features Liftime map upgardes a con.
Lost on way home – Brand new purchase & first time user and what should have been a 2 & half hour trip from Frankston Vic to Bendigo Vic it took me 5 hours. I should have realised this as on my way to Melbourne the GPS still had directions going through the main Street of Kyneton Vic. The major Calder Highway bypassed Kyneton many years ago. Friends have said don't… Read more
trust your GPS!! I ask "Why have one? Do I go back to the old reliable Melways but before I do this I need to check if I have purchased a GPS with out of date maps. The excitement of finally having a GPS It appears I may have purchased a GPS with out of date maps but prepared to hang in & view map updates.
first journey and the speed restrictions were over 12 months old and no new roads were listed. am… Read more
Disappointed User – As a professional coach driver, it offered many excellent features. It was economic, worked on 12 or 24V (important for heavy vehicles), large speed display & easily programmable. My first unit had a broken power/usb socket (off the mother board) after about 18 months use. I replaced it last week, with the exact same model, and the power/usb… Read more
socket broke the same way after only one week. cheap, 12 & 24V, large speed display, easily programmable, and software manipulation power socket and car charger too flimsy and unreliabe
Had the same exact issue with the mini USB socket breaking off the PCB with tracks and all, about 6… Read more
Bang for your buck! ten stars – My mate bought a 5inch screen tomtom valued $300 and it doesn't have all the bells that this has(rock on) I haven't had any problems out of the ordinary typical gps issues. Charging the device is childs play, i use my Motorola phone USB charger, cameras and other usb devices can be charged this way Cool things are that it tells you to SLOW… Read more
down in school zones, speed alert, memory card slot, plays jpeg /mp3, P & L plate speed assist, lane assist
Bad things are the battery doesn't last too long on its own (without charger)
Overall, does what its supposed to do and for whats considered ( chum change ) Cheap , effective, reliable Battery life
nice device – The regular map update is a winner for this unit! Pretty easy to use, enter address- you can enter the surrounding suburbs as long as the street name is correct Good value for what it does, OZ voice prompt and L & P plate log record, which no other GPS has offered lifetime map updates Not many stores have it in stock
Easy to use has all the needed features – Not too bad for what I need it for. I found it easy to navigate my way around. Sometimes it takes a route that is a little longer so I ignore that when possible (I know where I am for example). Recently though, the cord charger at the navigator end has become very flimsy. After 3 weeks of this it is now unable to charge the unit and I cannot even… Read more
charge the unit on the computer.
Taking it back tomorrow to see if the original store I bought it from can help me out. I've only had it 7 months and use it probably once every 2 weeks. Cheap and easy Charger at the unit end, connector now broken 7 months in
Nice little unit which is mostly effective – I have had this unit now for about 11 months. In that time I have found my way around quite easily however sometimes it will lead you "up the garden path" when I know there have been short routes...but I hear that even some of the lot more expensive units do this. It is easy to use just typing in the streets and away you go. There is not a lot of… Read more
detail in the map but again it will get you from A to B without a problem. The pronunciation of street names is a bit garbled and incorrect but you can normally work it out with the name on the screen.
The free updates aren't worth a 'pinch of salt' as they don't seem to do much of an update. When I first bought the unit I was sending in information to be updated but found they were never included. The response I received was that I must not have put enough information in to them but, when you say that there should be traffic lights at such and such an intersection and the speed is wrong for a particular road that has been there forever it appears they are not too concerned. So now 'lifetime' updates don't mean anything.
I drove to Rockhampton from Brisbane and the Navig8r shut down on me refusing to work with a loud squawking noise appearing every time I started it. I also reset it but it continued doing the same thing. It is working again now and the only reason for this that I can think of is that the highway modifications confused it and it 'spat the dummy' but this has occurred about 10 times now for no apparent reason. The cost is the best thing about it and it gets me from A to B. Minor 'bugs' which have come good...so far. Lack of response for maps by Navig8r
can someone tell me why my Navig8r keeps saying sleeping
