Excellent – I would recommend this GPS unit for those who are looking to spend under 200. I assure you, you won't be dissappointed. I've owned this GPS unit for 2 months now and I absolutely love it. I actually was tossing between this and a small TOMTOM. My sister owns a TOMTOM and I find that whenever I've used hers, it does not read out the street you are turning into. I found this very annoying because I was not sure if I turned into the right street. However on this unit, you will find it incredibly easy to use and trust as it tells you the street name to turn, and when you get close to the location then it directs you. Another thing I noticed between this and a TOMTOM, once you have reached your destination it actually tells you whether it is on the left or right. TOMOM does not . With a GPS unit, small things like this make the biggest difference and allow u to trust the GPS much more. The screen shows you the lane you should be in, the speed limit of the street you are on and the street name. Compared to TOMTOM, I can honestly say with all honesty. Navman interface beats TOMTOM. It is incredibly easy to use and has great features. It features a history, where you can find places u've entered before. It also has a feature that shows u the nearest atms, hospitals, petrol stations etc to your current location. The installation process when you bring it home is pretty simple. The battery life is reasonable, charges quickly and lasts for about 4hours. Volume is clear and sun glare is not a problem for me. It is the best unit out there among the $170 mark. Definately the best entry level GPS unit at the moment. Very user friendly, "my places" feature, window shield attachment very strong, tells you the street your turning into, shows u the speed limit, does not lag on/off/reset button could have been separate instead of one slide button. Did not come with a usb or AC charger, only car charger.

Useful and compact GPS – OVERALL: If you are after a compact GPS and don't need all the bells and whistles, this is a good little unit. Bought on special for less than $100. The MicroSD card slot is a good feature - I was able to load the unit up with a map of Europe for a recent overseas trip, in addition to the supplied map of Australia. Works reliably with both sets of maps. Additional country maps available from Navman online store and there are frequent promotions (25% off, 15% off etc) that one can take advantage of.

Inputting a destination has some limitations, for example you cannot specify a street intersection, only a street/house number - not good if it's a long road. You can get around this by using the "find on map" and pick the intersection, it will "jump to" the nearest house number.

Unable to save one's current location easily, must do from "find on map".

The Navman software is nowhere near as user-friendly as the TomTom Home software. Updating maps is a manual process, must remove the "old" maps from the unit before you can load the new maps. Map of Australia are out-of date, many speed limits are shown wrong (for example showing 80km or 60km speed limits on the Monash Freeway in Melbourne from roadwaors that finished over two years ago. Doing a major map update deletes all your saved destinations unless you back up your My Places" before the update and then restore AFTER doing the map update...but then my TomTom XL had the same issue.

SUMMARY:I would recommend this unitgiven its low price and ability to add more maps. Inexpensive, nice and compact, MicroSD card slot allows additional mapping, windscreen holder solid and strong. Easy to use. Screen could be brighter, updating maps a manual process, touch screen requires a firm push to register input, locks up occasionally requiring a OFF/RESET/ON cycle.
