Navman Map for Older Navmans – I was disappointed to find that a new map purchased for an older model Navman in January 2019 for $69.00 is not able to be updated in February 2020. At the time I was on the verge of buying new but decided to maintain the older GPS and keep one less unit out of landfill. I will probably buy new now as it will cost me another $69 to upgrade to a newer map through Navman.

Awful, Not reliable. Battery less than 30 minutes – Awful, You will get there 50% of the time. If you use a saved Route, it will want to take you everywhere else but where you want to go. Take along time to connect to get signal back when coming out from tunnel. Honestly, my old Garmin was a lot better. Will be looking to try another brand.

Mix of good and bad! – The good: Device is clear and easy to read, traffic reports are great, as it the ability to avoid and detour around traffic spots. Trade ins are also available to upgrade with a reasonable discount. The bad: Updating maps is a complete nightmare, had to contact support and they were of very limited help, wasted so many hours and endured so… Read more

much frustration, the software that runs on your home PC looks very badly written. I've worked in the IT industry for a decade and a half as a systems engineer and couldn't resolve the issues. Strangely enough, when the next version of the software was released, it magically worked, basically looks like the software has bugs in it.

Limited map updates, which adds insult to injury. If it wasn't bad enough trying to update maps, then you're eventually stuck with having to pay for maps to keep your device up-to-date (read functional) that cost way too much, part of the cost of a new device in fact. New devices get free map updates, so to hell with existing customers who bought the older ones! Why not make them available? No goodwill towards the existing customers base?

"GPS goes mad" syndrome, which other customers have noted, where:

- the unit spontaneously decides to drive you around in circles,

- takes weird zig-zag paths through side streets rather than drive straight down a quiet street and turn at the end of it,

- starts recalculating the route while you're driving down a straight road it asked you to drive down which is the right way to be going.

This is my third Navman, started with the Mio and have traded in each time to upgrade. Each upgrade seems to have more issues, more drama. I'm really thinking I'm better with an alterative brand that is not so buggy with each new release, and more respectful to loyal customers, c'mon guys, free maps for existing customers would be a goodwill gesture. No need to force people to upgrade, people will do that of their own free will when devices get old, break, or they want better features. Who wants a disposable GPS? The suction cup mount broke on mine and the maps are out of date, so I was considering upgrading with a trade in, but the MY670LMT seems to have a lot of issues from the reviews here, so I'm reluctant to buy a whole new set of problems. So what do I do now? What would you suggest, Mr Navman, what would you do if you were me? : )

Total Crap – I was given one a few days ago. I decided to play with it for a day or two to see if it was any good. Man, thats a few hours of my life I want back. Thank god there is no longer any need for these type of devices anymore. Smart phone's do the job soooooo much better now. The GUI is less than intuitive, the response time is far too slow when… Read more

you press buttons. The voice directions are far too slow, battery life was terrible (but it was an old one), the Route finding algorithm used must have been created by a madman, the maps are out of date, points of interest are out of date, speeds are out of date, etc etc etc... (and yes, it had the latest map updates)

I never really considered it for actual use as I have a perfectly good Android phone with a bigger better screen, snappy CPU and GPU, but I was curious and hence I checked it out.

With the advent of smart phones and how far they have progressed, there really is very little value to be had in any of these little GPS devices any more. This one, there is NO value.

I wont even inflict it on somebody else, its going in the bin (or back to the person who gave it to me).

Disappointing GPS – After the free maps had expired I recently paid for and downloaded 2016 Australian Winter Maps before a long interstate trip. I was disappointed to find it never showed the speed limit higher than 100kmh even thought most major highways are 110kmh, so I didn't know where it actually was 100kmh; it wrongly informed me of fixed speed cameras where… Read more

there were none or had been removed, and often didn't inform me of lower changes of speed limits, and there are heaps of inaccuracies in my local area (Sunshine Coast). To program a new route before completing an old one was a hassle as it was difficult to cancel the old route even after turning off and restarting. Also the day/night screens would not come on automatically, I had to stop each time and manually change to night to avoid being dazzled. Never had any of these problems with my previous GPS of a different brand. Navman haven't answered my email and I feel that the "update" was a complete waste of money.

Excellent GPS – It has a positive on/off switch, and an excellent long-life windscreen holder (the new holders are weak and break). Not like those silly new GPS units where you have to waste 8 seconds or more of your valuable time trying to switch them off with those unreliable time press switches, where some come units switch themselves back on again. And… Read more

some of the new Navman units ask a silly question if after you turn them on, they stupidly ask you if you want to continue using them!

Nope. Too risky – I can't believe I didn't write a review for this. I usually leave it a bit in case things improve (or deteriorate) and probably forgot to come back. This unit might have been bought about 2 years ago. I've only used it occasionally, but it was pretty troublesome from the start. Firstly, I bought it because it was meant to pair with the iphone… Read more

version I had. It didn't and when I contacted support to find out why it wasn't working was told it shouldn't. Despite the information on the website stating it should. Secondly, the voice control is pretty inaccurate, but I can live with that if the rest worked ok. It soon stopped working with battery and has never worked again without being plugged into the aux power supply. Map updating is ok, I don't think I've ever had trouble with that side of things although the desktop for managing it on PC is pretty horrible. But yesterday, I went to plug it in to do updates on PC and nothing. No power going to it at all. So, I'm feeling mightily ripped off and can't say this Navman device has been a good experience. 2 stars is generous. Probably more 1 - 1.5.

Simply junk! – This GPS is one of the cheapest and nastiest products you will ever find. The very fact that you can pick them up from the internet sales warehouses for around $85 speaks for itself. Don't even think about updating it as there are NO Australian maps to use and any support from Navman is simply a waste of time. They don't even want to talk to… Read more

you, but then again that is pretty normal for this company.

The brand Navman is on a par with the crappy third level of tools and similar equipment that are rushed onto the market with much advertising and frenzy at crazy low prices to suck everybody in and then of course you realize you have bought junk!

Do not even think of buying from this store Absolutely nothing! Prettry well everything you canm think of!

Very good unit fr the money – Purchased the Navman from Dick Smith some 5/6 months ago. Product was 50% off on one of their specials so paid about $80 for it. Vey accurate and go if you just need a no frills GPS. Will take it to Europe later this year and can buy maps there for $25 on line. Great basic unit. Accurate , cheap .  Show reply

Disappointed Customer – I'm sorry that I purchased this item. The unit is easy to read but very difficult to enter destination details. I have given up on trying to update the road maps. If the MY85XLT was a person I would've dropped em on to the canvass long ago! – Only keeping it as I'm now over the anger and frustration (so many times) and just entertained about how bad it really is. Turn it on to see how it would route you to places you know how to get to and get ready to be amused. It'll not only take you off then back on to the same road etc but it will make you go in circles. God forbid if you actually… Read more

need to know how to get somewhere. And if you want to upgrade the maps, oh Lordy, forget it. Navman have managed to get you going around in circles even when you're not driving! It was one of the bigger sizes at the time. Expensive in comparison, useless off (sleep) or reset option, suction cup not very good, slow to adjust to daylight, slow to find a signal, touch screen is more a push screen and slow to register keys, slow to register exact location so you need to approach intersections (particularly whilst on the freeway at close exits. It's just [censored] fullstop!

Don't waste your money! – New maps out of date - Purchased new map upgrade and do not include new roads that are a few years old. Safety issue - Does not have daylight savings settings. Navman problems – I purchased a Navman MY85XLT.The maps are so out of date and don't have roads correct that have been altered years ago. After downloading the latest maps the unit will not recalculate and keeps trying to take you on the old route. It did this for 50km and when it said destination in 500 metres the DTG showed 90km to go and all of a sudden it tried… Read more

Useless unit – My my85XLT constantly sends me off main road onto side streets taking me away from direct route. Gives directions too late, often past intersections , Does not notify when approaching Fixed speed cameras, even after updating. Paid over $300 for Navman have used $98 Tom Tom and it leaves Navman for dead. Do not recommend this Navman unit Bad directions. Wrong speed zones. Unaable to detect Fixed speed cameras

Navman MY85XLT – This is the worst GPS I have ever had the missfortune to own. The screen constantly freezes in built up areas, it will tell you to turn left and then when you do it tells you to do a uturn. It also sends you on time wasting loops, as a truck driver this unit has cost me a lot of time and money as well as put me in some bad situations, as in you… Read more

No instructions and very complex to load maps – I opened the box and expected some guide to know what to do. The unit has no maps loaded. connected Navman unit to the desktop with supplied cable. Dowloaded maps(you need to download nearly 300mb of data) and clicked on maps and it said it dowloaded maps to the unit. Tried unit and no maps showing on screen. Tried downloading again and map was deleted off both unit and desktop and message appeared that I need to buy map. Just a horrible mess. Wasted 6 hrs trying to get unit going and will return for a refund. I also noted that the unit touch screen was hard to activate requiring a lot of pressure and hands free telephone link did not work well via blue tooth. Easy to read screen Impossible to boot up without any instructions

My Navman MY85XLT gets me lost every time – This is a fantastic toy but it is completely useless as a GPS. I have had two Navman Gps so far that have served me well, But the MY85XLT is a useless piece of junk. Urban side streets it is between 40 and 80 meters out, so your always passing the street you need to turn at.

It reports Rail way crossing where there aren't any and then on the odd occasion that it does find one it reports it 80 meters after you have driven over it.

It reports speed and red light cameras 120 - 180 meters after there position. The big screen Highly informitive but totaly inaccurate.

Worst GPS unit - Navigation freezes – Product would freeze from 1st time we used it, which was 2 weeks after purchasing. Navman advised to re-install software to fix problem. This did not work. What a disaster – An absolute piece of garbage with appropriate totally non-existing support. As a courier I need up-to-date, correct information. achieved nothing.

The Aussie female voice is attrocious; hardly any street names are pronounced correctly.

The male voice is slighly better, but is still painful to listen to.

Because of their mispronunciation of names it often causes missed directions.

The inconsistency at roundabouts is just incredible; there are 4 different ways to instruct the driver how to navigate roundabouts.

For some quaint reason it appears that the MY85XLT thinks that the word EXIT also means to continue straight ahead on the same road.

I am still trying to manipulate U-turns on freeways before exiting the freeway. Which genius came up with that gem?

The list goes on and on.

Save your money and buy something that actually works; it will not be a NAVMAN the larger screen what is right with it?????

Refunds needed for junk – Don't even think of buying one of these unless you want extreme frustration with every use . Wrong directions ,freezing up,late warnings ,you name it this unit has it ,call or email support and you get a useless spiel about how to reinstall the software and reset it,THIS DOES NOT WORK If Navman were serious they would refund everyone stung by this garbage GPS.
