OK – A good camera for an older person who has trouble operating digital devices. This camera was purchased for my mother to take to Africa, chosen because of its relatively long (5x optical) zoom for its price. Most of the time she used the automatic scene selection modes and her photos turned out well. For someone looking for a higher quality image and more manual control out of a point and shoot, this is not for them. It is very frustrating not being able to turn off the flash in automatic mode, and the only other alternative modes are limited scene selection ones. It also uses its own Olympus XD card which doesn’t fit in the memory card slots of some computers. Long 5x optical zoom, very simple to use, compact size, inexpensive Very limited customization and manual controls, in auto mode can’t choose to use flash or not, takes a long time to attain focus
