Olympus Mju Tough 8000

OK – I am a little disappointed in the camera's overall performance. My old Sony 5.1Mp CyberShot is a much better featured camera.I would like to have been able to have a fully manual feature and be able to set shutter and aperture (as previously mentioned). I will now look at a DSLR to fill the performance gap that this camera falls into. I spend a lot of time outdoors photographing dirtbiking, and I like the rugged waterproof/dustproof abilites of the camera.

The video function is very good, allows digital zooming whilst recording and the quality is very good.

It is well built and has a solid feel to it. The screen is very good, but would like a glass view finder also.

Good battery life is a bonus for this unit. Unfortunately, shutter and aperture settings are not user definable, and as such limits my use of the camera. Some auto modes are ok, but it really struggles to take a decent picture in low light, or when objects are fast moving.

Excellent – I have had four cameras before buying this one, and I would not hesitate to persuade any one in buying the Olympus Tough 8000 camera. It has all the features and more that you would expect from a camera that is out of the standard range. I like the compact size and the weight of the 8000. I am rough with everything I own and I feel reassured this camera can handle what I dish out. The only thing I could complain about is the power cable, it’s in two halves and don’t roll up small enough to place in my camera case.
