Have tried many air cons before & this is the best yet. We turn it on then go to buy food, come home – We got it right this summer at Cash Converters, we bought the last model Remote control Omega 14 altise with hose AirPod & with the extreme heat we have this dose the job, sitting not feeling any heat. I fully recommend this air con to any one to beat the heat.  Show details ·  1

Brilliant little A/C – Excellent unit. Had this for four years while living in a unit. Cooling is excellent. Icy cold a/c. Heating is not so good as it uses a heating element rather than reverse cycle. But from what I can tell this is pretty standard for portable units that heat and cool. Best thing about this unit, it was very quiet.  Show details ·  1

Mine Was Dog, But Amazing Customer Service – My unit was a dog, started smelling musty after a few months and just got worse. I was not happy with the service centre they use in my area either, and the unit is apparently not cleanable. The actual build quality, noise level and performance of the unit was otherwise very good. However, Altise's customer support were amazing to deal with.… Read more

Even after I lost my cool at one point and was, quite frankly, downright rude, they are still replacing with a new model despite being a couple of months out of warranty. Who does that!

I would not recommend this particular unit, which is no longer made, but would definitely recommend Altise.

Stinks, can't clean it.

Good little stylish unit – Great looking little unit and very stylish! it kind of looks like a space age suitcase! We love it and it actually suits our interior colouring and decorating. Im a bit spewing i paid around $80 more than it sells for now, but i try not to look at comparison prices as it performs and looks fantastic. optimum temperature it seems to run at is… Read more ·  1

around 23 degrees and in a medium/large room it takes about 30 mins to feel the full effect. Stylish, small, powerful Expensive compared to other similar KW units.

Good looking portable aircon that works! – For me this is one of the best looking aircon available, it also works in cooling the room which I find somehow more effective when using dry instead of cool mode. I haven't tried the heating mode though. The downside is the noise which is still quite loud (at least for me). I find it hard to sleep with this unit on. When it switches to fan, it… Read more

is a lot quieter but it is still louder than your average standard fan. Looks good, works in cooling room Noisy

soild, attention to detail air con, serious product – feels like an air con, rather than a cheap fridge. remote is nice add on, soild build quality. cools the room effectively, can feel the cooler air filling up the room. noise level moderate, not too easy to sleep, but not jet engine either. water drainage hose is a bit too short, might need to build your own to avoid wet carpet… Read more

damages. soild quality, serious attempt to cool the room, remote, attention to detail, innovative design. water drainage hose too short, buttons on the machine too easily triggered by slight touch.

We bought two, one for each of our kids rooms - after doing a lot of shopping around – We tried another brand that was way too loud and our kids could not sleep with it on. After researching a lot we tried the Omega Altise Airpod and could not be happier: efficient, as quiet as a fan, and can be programmed so it is not left on all night. It looks really funky too. Shop around because the prices are variable - I played a couple of… Read more

the big stores off against each other and got them much cheaper than the ticket price. Cools very quickly, quietest we could find. Not as quiet as a ducted or split system, but then none of them are.

Sydney review part 1 – Part 1 review; comparing other portable air con and noise. After comparing this unit to dozens of other units from different stores - Good Guys, Retrovision, Bing Lee etc. This is one of the most 'quiet' units. But please note that ALL portable air conditioners are louder than the $5000 installed air conditioning units mounted on the wall. This… Read more

is because all portable air conditioners has all the components compacted inside a container; the intake/exhaust/output of cold air.

I can sleep with this unit on, because I'm a heavy sleeper. The sound it generates is a similar sound to a blow dryer with medium settings. Even if the air con is on low/med/high fan, the noise level is the same.

This unit has a refrigerant, so it actually does blow cold air - The same cold air from a car air conditioning unit. I will write a second review on a hot day. I've only tested it out on a 25c day which lowered my room to 17c in 30 minutes. The real test run is on a 30c+ day and seeing how much this unit can lower my room temperature. My room is 4m x 5m. Very cold air, easy to manage, modern design, price varies so quote around and match price, 2 years warranty (paid for another 4 years warranty) low/medium/high fan settings with air con on doesn't seem to change, but with air con off and fan only these settings apply. Expensive if you don't price match other stores.

Good – Admittedly this is only a review after one day but given the number of people that were buying portable air conditioners yesterday in Sydney I thought I would share my experience. If you set up the unit and have it operating before the heat kicks in, this is a great unit, maintaining 22c inside when it was over 30c outside. On the first night… Read more

it took the unit nearly 45mins to drop the room temp from 29c to 24c but struggled to get any cooler.

I would not go as far as to call the unit quiet but it is certainly not unbearable. If you have floorboards get a foam mat/yoga mat and this can also reduce some of the noise and vibration. Shop around, this product retails from $999 to $850 ($850 at binglee haymarket). Overall this unit delivers for room sizes less than 5m by 3.5m with 2.7m high ceilings. I am more than satified with the value of this unit, if I had the time and money I would not hesitate to install a proper split system but as thats not possible this is a worthwhile alternative. Does actually cool a room (14000 BTU unit) and the unit is small and somewhat stylish. The venting hose and window attachement are awkward and little cumbersome to fit on a temporary basis if you intend to move the unit from room to room as we do (lounge and bedroom)

Good – Overall I am happy I bought the unit. It is quiet, compact and well designed generally. Similar to most units with a drain, its located low and might be hard for the eldely to access but our unit sits in our bedroom ensuite so draining is as simple as wheeling the unit over the floor drain and pulling the hose. Havin said that, it did 3 hot humid… Read more

days before being emptied which isn't bad.

Not great for cooling a living area if you can't seal it off it would do the job. Fantastic for cooling even a large sized master bedroom. We have a 4.5 x 5 m bedroom with walk in robe. The unit is located in the ensuite and we use a pedestal fan to blow the air through the walk in robe into the main bedroom compartment.

I am using the unit tonight, its 25 degrees in our bedroom, 36 degrees in the hallway outside. As far as I am concerned thats very acceptable performance considering the less than ideal setup we have with the unit in our ensuite. - The unit is compact for a 14,000 BTU system- The unit is definitely quiet compared to most of the cheaper systems- High air output compared to other models tested, makes better use of cooling power- Cooling power is inline with expectations for a portable unit. Extremely good for a large sized master bedroom. - Heavy to carry upstairs- ventilation hose too short. Need to extend the hose to allow more flexibility in positioning the unit. Current hose means you have to have unit within about 1.2 m of the window. I am considering extended the ventilation hose with a longer piece from the hardware store in conjunction with an extractor fan to improve airflow from the unit and allow me to place it further from the window- Window mouning piece is too short to allow mounting in sliding door (we have sash windows). Not really a serious criticism though as the hose is designed for window mounting- Not adequate to cool a moderately sized living area unless you can really seal it off. Again not really a major criticism as I knew the system was not super powerful. On the other hand, if you point the fan diretly at you, it certainly gives you a cooling nice blast of air
