Works until it doesn't – Hot plates died one after the other. After four years it is defunct. I've been quoted as much as the stove cost me to replace the power board. Omega doesn't care, if it's out of warranty it's too bad. They blame it on the installer even though I used a reputable company who followed the specifications provided by Omega. Don't buy unless you can afford a new stove in a couple of years.
- Date Purchased:
Our replacement stove has died within 6 mths – We had an awful time getting our first stove replaced. They wouldn't repair as they said it wasn't cost effective for them! Yet we had to pay for a second installation. They were rude and told me I was lucky I was getting a new one. REALLY after 4 months of a working stove and 4 months of fighting for a new one, I was the lucky one. I still have all my emails of the FIGHTING!
I asked if my warranty continued on the new one and was told I had to pay for a new warranty!! That was $170 just for that part and more for the second installation.
Tonight we had the replacement one blow up while cooking dinner for guests that were coming. I am so mad this has happened again and will be demanding a refund this time!! Nothing It doesn't last.
Amazing technology - didn't last long though - Poor Customer service – Fantastic technology - but our cooktop failed after 6 months. Service agent was great - but omega appliances themselves have the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I had to constantly call them, to check what was happening, was given major attitude by multiple staff members. Very unhelpful. model - ICT1BB http://www.omegaappliances.com.au/Product-347-Omega_60cm_Induction_Cooktop__ICT1BB.aspx
I was hesitant at first getting an induction cooktop, because i have always wanted gas, but we couldn't get gas in our unit. Nevertheless the induction is almost as quick as gas, it's quite amazing, and leaves the old standard electrical hobs for dead. I would never go back. Gas or Induction they're the only way to cook.
I would definitely buy another induction cooktop, just not from omega, purely because of the poor customer service.
The "control board" within the unit supposedly failed. Essentially my wife was cooking on the front hobs, when a spark appeared from the rear hobs and it went dead. very energy efficient, cooking is very fast. poor customer service from manufacturer
hi does anyone have a copy of the installation instructions and user manual? i got mine from display sale so all documents were not included.
many thanks.
Oh [censored word removed], I've got one of these! Going into it's 9th month now though.
Hello did u have any luck with finding a manual for you induction cooktop, i brought mine in nov. 2009 haven't had any problems until now, when you turn it on all the displays come up with the letter L
i can find my instruction manual and cant find it on line.
cheers
I received mine from Omega customer service. "L" means the hob was locked (avoid cooking setting being modified, like while cleaning). You might have accidentally activated the control panel lock function. below is the extract of unlocking:
1) Press key [ 0/I ] (see "L" on all display as it states it is still locked) 2) in the 5 seconds after start, Touch simultaneously [ - ] and [ + ] at Front Right ([0] or [H] on display) 3) Press key [-] (No light on display)
To lock the panel, follow the steps 1 & 2, then press [+] in step 3
Wish I never purchased this product – I purchased this because I wanted an induction cooktop. Lasted 5 months before it stopped working (a Control Panel issue). My local service agents where given the run around for 4 months before I managed to get in contact with the company and demanded my money back. I am currently waiting for a cheque for a full refund. What an absolute waste of time and money, I'll never be purchasing anything Omega branded every again.
Bad after sales service, poor product.

Omega cooktops are just not fit for the purpose. It probably time someone took them to consumer affairs.
