Running well - Very nice microwave – There isn't a whole lot to say when you like a product and it works well. I always but Panasonic for microwaves and I have never had a bad one. This is a very competent all round performer and does everything well, The silly thing is despite its abilities, I mostly just use it to heat milk for my drinks.  Show details

12 Months Review – Had no problems with unit, works very well and easy to use. Some functions ie. Auto Defrost doesn't work so well on some foods but can with practice be OK when Defrost Manually. All in all a very good unit. This is our second Panasonic Convection/Microwave the first lasted 15 year without any trouble, very happy.  Show details

Cant change bulb and it rusts – Don't buy panasonic microwave after buying this 4 years later i am shocked it has rusted. A year later the bulb blew and you can't change it yourself so I have had no bulb. 4 years I would expect better of a well known brand. Show details

Good design and well made – This is my 4th Panasonic microwave oven. I've had it for a few weeks now and it has performed flawlessly so far. I was looking for a medium size microwave oven to replace another that had been donated to a relative. After looking at a few convection models, I decided to stick with a basic microwave oven as it will be used mainly for warming up and… Read more

reheating food. I deliberately avoided the flatbed models after reading reports of inconsistent heating among domestic models. There are sound technical reasons why a turntable is there in most microwaves. This microwave oven is easy to use and easy to clean. It is a little louder than my last oven, but not unacceptably so. I have no issue with the cooling function that appears to annoy some other users. One thoughtful feature is the soft touch door release button, which is easy to overlook in the shop showroom. Anyone who has tried to use a microwave oven quietly at night will appreciate not having to close the door with a loud thunk. Ditto with the rotary knob for time setting. I don't know how you could go back to a numeric keypad after using this. Criticisms - only a minor one. The interior oven light could be a bit brighter so I can stop the cooking process before my glass of milk bubbles up and makes a mess of the oven. Overall, a very good microwave oven for the price I paid and what it is used for.

Works well – Had a Panasonic Genius M/W oven for 30+ years, still running but too big for our new oven stack. Read many reviews, here and on other sites, on how poor and unreliable present day M/W ovens are compared with the old ones. Bought this particular model based on some good reports and aware of the poor feedback from others. It is more powerful… Read more

that the old one resulting in less time to cook, and no noisier than the old one. The cooling cycle does not exist in the old one, but it is not annoying. Some people had issues with the knob, but the whole family found the knob easy to use.

The new M/W oven is reasonably built but cannot match the old one. Too soon to judge on reliability but if we can get 3-5 years out of this, we will be satisfied. To put things in context, we paid $600+ thirty plus years ago for the old well built Panasonic. Not sure how many people will today pay $1,800 to $2,000 for a standalone M/W oven? And does any appliance last 30 years today? Hence, expectations are somewhat lower for this present day Panasonic M/W oven.

Quality Is Going Downhill!! Update on light globe – I bought this microwave to replace my previous 15-year-old Panasonic (still working just the digital screen was unreadable) and have been very disappointed. The first thing I noticed was how "lightweight" it was which made me suspicious of quality and performance. You might think being lighter is better but not with microwaves. The quality of… Read more

the electronics, specifically the Magnetron which basically makes microwaves to heat food, is directly related to the weight of the machine. Heavier the machine the more copper, etc. in the magnetron and the less workload on all the electronic components and hence they operate at lower temperatures.

The above shed some light on other reviews which mentioned the "cooling" cycle the machine does after use. This is obviously because the size of the Magnetron is way too small for the job and hence it has to work so much harder, therefore getting overheated and needing a fan to cool it even after it stops heating food in an attempt to get a resolvable working life out of it.

Panasonic made the call to produce a cheaper lower quality unit and give it extra cooling capacity in the hope it will perform the same as older models. I seriously doubt this new machine will last half the life of the old one. Other than that it does do the job, had a good operating manual and recipe book and looks stylish.

In summary; I would not buy this machine due to the low quality electronic components which are the lifeblood of a microwave.

UPDATE: Light globe blown last month. Never had to replace previous model, this ones nowhere near as good. :(

Finally got around to pulling case of to replace light globe and found you have to replace the entire lamp holder as well as its all one unit. $32 ($22.00 + $10 shipping) to get parts + my time to fix.

This microwave is rubbish....Avoid at all costs.

Good But Not As Good As Old Panasonic – This is a very nice microwave. It is well built and functions very well. The menus are all well thought through, although the beep sound gets on my nerves a bit - I wish I could turn that off. It cooks really quickly and evenly and much faster than other cheaper microwaves and it also de thaws and reheats well, but not quite as well as my old 90's solidly built Panasonic. They don't build them like they used to anymore and that's a shame.  Show details

Solid Product with Inverter Tech – Bought this from Bing Lee during their sale after recommendation from the salesman. This microwave cooks and heats quite evenly. It has to be because the inverter technology that Panasonic uses. It also has convenient reheat function but I find the food can be a bit overly too hot after reheat but probably it's better than still cold! Happy with this purchase  Show details

Good microwave with – Purchased the Microwave online a while back from Harvey Norman. I'm was surprised by how this thing heats up or cooks up food really quickly. It has been in use for a while and is still going strong. So gotta give it props for being reliable The only gripe i might have is the loud cooling fan that goes on after its heated food for some time takes a while to come down  Show details

Worse expensive Microwave – Bought this microwave as I had a new kitchen and didn't want to put my old cheap trustworthy white microwave in my nice new kitchen. replace it. Then about 6 months later the coating inside the oven started coming away it was only a little patch but with in a month it had spread and now it has gone rusty. Panasonic don't want to know said it was caused by not cleaning after use, I can honestly say after spending that kind of money out I always wiped it. So now I am looking at buying another microwave as it is dangerous to use this Panasonic. I won't be buy an expensive one again

OK but poor build quality – We had this microwave for 3 years. The light bulb failed after 6 months and the microwave started smoking and failed on its 3rd year (this week). It was (before fire) very noisy during cooking and doing its cooling after cooking. The tray is not well balanced and would often need repositioning. Above average price but general feature – Been using it for a year and find that it has no different at all with those cheapie ones you would get from Kmart, Big W & Target. Again, you just paying for the Brand Name. It is easy to use though but capacity wasn't enough for the price you paid for.  Show details

Great Microwave - Cooks evenly and very quickly – Had this microwave for almost a year now and I can not use any other microwave. Food warms up evenly and is heated up so quickly. The microwave is quiet as well and it looks good with all my other stainless products. This microwave probably cooks in half the time of my previous microwave.  Show details

No compromise on Japanese quality – I got this as a gift from a family 's friend. I was a fan of some local brand like Breville and not much interested in the microwave that has limited advertising online. However, the inverter cooking function really hooked me up. I don't have an oven at home so the Inverter function somehow helps me to make food succulent the way that oven does to food.  Show details

Heats up well – We purchased this microwave approximately 3years ago. It heats everything up well and it hasn't skipped a beat. This microwave also has the auto cooling function.. so it sounds like the microwave is still on even after it has finished warming your food up. That function is slightly annoying, but definitely understandable. The little knob on the front also feels quite sturdy and very smooth to turn.  Show details

Way better than others I’ve used! – My family has gone through a lot of microwaves but this one has lasted the longest. And we put ours through the ringer. It’s sturdy and i think that has something to do with its stainless steel look. The buttons are so easy to use and understand the use of each one. My favourite is the turbo defrost, such a useful feature as well as a bunch of… Read more

other features. Not loud but not quiet, but definitely less loud than our last few. My only downside would be that the spinning table makes its nearly impossible to clean. It’s easy to get the spinning table out but a pain to get back in. But other than that, heats food up quickly and evenly. Turbo defrost makes this microwave superior.

Microwave oven which last a long time – I bought v nn 691 in 1998 and took it with me to China, Taiwan, Indonesia, onl y not to Doha since the com o any gave me a full kitted out a poo argument, that's like 20 years ago, it is still going without missing a bit. A bit noisy by comparison and not as energy efficient as later day models but I paid like 500usd for this top of the range… Read more

mid er L then, it's like 25usd per year. Wonder the cheaper models can last two years....

Panasonic also produced a fantastic fuzzy logic rice cooker, which stayed with me sInce 2003. 15 years later it's still going thousand the di s play panel has faulted.

Perfect – It heats food quite quickly Also defrosting function is amazing, it looks small on the outside but big on the inside, can take big size plates as well as big storage containers, minimum noise when I'm function, comes in handy when you wanna have a late night snack without waking up the whole house.  Show details

My son's purchase and loves it – My son moved out and needed a MWO. He is very happy with his purchase. Great Microwave! – Bought this Panasonic NN-SD691SQPQ Inverter Genius 1100w microwave to replace an old Sharp. It works well and is very easy to use, and easy to keep clean. I mainly use the sensor defrost and re-heat but it has many other programmes. I particularly love the melt and soften setting, which is handy when you need soft butter when baking. Great size for medium sized families. Stainless steel finish looks great! Highly recommend.  Show details

Great microwave love it – Although the light went in it not long after purchase it has never skipped a beat. Haven't tried any of the recipes from the book but I do love to cook rice in it during the rice setting. The melt setting is fantastic it's the best part and perfect for baking. Had it for 4 yrs now and still going strong. Not very loud either which is a plus when I was using it to heat up baby bottles.  Show details

Sleek design and easy to use – This is a sturdy and well-built microwave, the design is sleek and modern so will look good in most kitchens. The buttons are very easy to use, there's a knob where you could easily set/adjust the heating time. The only problem is the defrost function isn't the best, it takes a long time to defrost frozen meat though.  Show details

Don't waste your time buying this product – Don't waste your time with this microwave as the paint inside delaminates and the surface then rusts. Panasonic will blame you the purchaser for not cleaning it, even if you clean it often. The only way to win is to pick the paint off with your fingernail in front of them. The arcing is caused by rust build up (rust contains water hence the… Read more

Frustrating – We bought this along with the integration kit as part of doing up our kitchen. period of time is annoying. It also means the microwave beeps when finished cooking, but by running on sounds like it's still going.

It does cook fast and have plenty of cooking options, but think if in the market to buy again would look at splashing out and getting something like a miele speed oven instead.

settings are self explanatory and easy to use other than the melt function which I didn't quite know what some of the settings does until I looked at the top of the door (too hidden/concealed in my opinion).

I wouldn't say microwave is loud but can't define what's considered loud to some and not to others.

I got a good price for this but can't recall where from but it's definitely heaps cheaper than RRP.

Panasonic at most times are well built and sturdy.

Not the worst not the best but leaning towards the worst – Had this microwave for about 3 years. Seems to have the occasional hiccup where it will turn on but the turntable won't move, moving the plate it then works like it gets stuck. Door is hard to close and the cool down feature is rather annoying. Heating after 3 years seems uneven and takes longer. Just replaced with an LG 42L microwave which seems promising so far.  Show details

Rusty inside after 2 years domestic use. Rubbish quality – Bought 'another' Panasonic after our last one lasted 20yrs before a 'cooking incident' (our fault). This new one is now 2 years old and has rust under the turntable and on the roof - and not just a little bit. Rang Panasonic and they advised it was a 'maintenance issue' - ie failure to wipe down the microwave after EVERY use?? Rubbish quality - will never buy Panasonic again.  Show details

Second only to Smeg as the worst microwave I've had! – 1. Light bulb blew within months of purchase 2. Door catch broke with just warmed bolognese inside. Not pretty by the time we got it out !( by taking off the entire casing) 3. Difficult to find any appliance store to repair panasonic and then I was quoted $241 for catch repair ($120 for the cost of the part) 4. Has a very annoying (and energy expending) 'cool down' after each use. 5. Will not purchase panasonic again.
