Poor suction – I bought this electric pump with urgency as my baby was in NICU. It has never allowed me to get a good amount out. First thing in the morning when it is best to pump i can only get 20ml, 3 months later. Suction is poor. I dont have the receipt so i cant return to place of purchase. I cant afford to buy another one. Disappointed

Seems faulty – When it works, it great, when it doesn't, it seems to to just get worse. The problem is that there is this annoying rubber grommet that always pops off mid way through pumping and means that I have to re sterilise everything again and start over. It would be good if Avent could redesign this mechanism.

Absolutely Awful and painful – Completely unreliable. It would make a horrible cluncky noise even from day one. The worst part is that it would not remember the speed/suction that you set it to and it would suck so hard that my nipple would get stuck in the suction cup. Very painful and it also made the pump completely ineffective. Useless piece of rubbish. Don't bother.

Might be good for some with "normal" size nipples – Bought the Philips Avent Isis from a baby expo having heard it was the be all and end all of breast pumps. 4 Months later and baby is born, I try and use it to no avail. My nipple pulls extremely far up into the pipe which is uncomfortable and means I can't pump properly. The silicon sleeve pulls milk up underneath it which means that some of my… Read more

milk is wasted and it also makes a complete mess, it also doesn't pump my milk efficiently at all even when I seem to get the right action. Turns out that women should have pumps with individual size cups and the Isis is too small for my not overly large breasts. I would recommend mothers or mothers to be to get look into a pump with different shield sizes available to save the heartache of trying to feed a hungry, crying baby with sore nipples and no pump to allow you to give them breast milk. Even see a lactating consultant at your hospital or midwifery centre before baby is born to ensure you have the right size. Cheaper than electric Did not fit my nipples, too many parts, leaked milk all over the place, bottles contain BPA.

Good – A great option if you don't need to express regularly, easy to use and to clean. Great idea to express directly into a storage container to pop straight into the freezer. the freezer) which can then be used as a bottle which means reducing the need to steralise multiple items while reducing contamination. The pump is easy to store and easy to clean, safe to go in the dishwaher. I didn't have to express that regularly but each time I did I found it easy and was able to pump over 100mls. I did use an electric pump while in hospital and actually prefer the Avent one. Quite a inexpensive option if you don't have to express all the time, handy to have in the first few months before your milk settles. It can be quite noisy while in use, and I was very careful with all of the parts as I understand it can be difficult to buy replacement parts.

Good – I purchased this after my 5 week hire of the hospital's Medela electric pump expired. On first use I was able to express more and faster than with the electric pump! As someone who struggles with supply, every little bit counts. It is nice to be able to sit and use this pump anywhere, as opposed to being attached to a machine like a dairy cow! … Read more

I found it quite comfortable (well as comfortable as a breast pump could ever be!), and liked that I was in control of how hard and fast I was pumping. Avent's storage system is second-to-none, and readily available in supermarkets, baby stores and pharmacies. I do find however, that the Avent teats are not as good as the Pigeon ones for my little one...so I end up decanting the milk into Pigeon bottles. portable, easy to clean, easy to assemble, easy to buy replacement parts and accessories, fits with all the avent containers and bottles, quiet operation. milk gets caught in the little petals behind the silicone shield, a little top heavy if you try to stand it on a table assembled,

Good manual breast pump – I have been using this breast pump for three weeks. So far I have found it really good. I generally express small amounts (30mL after a breastfeed) so I can stock up of some breastmilk in the freezer. For these small amounts I find it really quick and easy to use. I have expressed larger amounts a few times (up to 120mL) and it is also quick… Read more ·  1

and easy to use for this purpose only taking me about ten minutes for this amount. I don't think it does a great job at emptying my breasts fully but for a pump to use for small amounts I have found it really good. Quick easy to use, easy to clean and put together. Does not fully empty breast.

Excellent – I went back to work early with both babies and found the electric pump very easy and efficient to use- after using my original one for my first baby for 3 months and then using it again for the last 7 months with my 2nd baby, i will admit that the pump finally failed (i think the motor gave up the ghost- but i was pumping at least 3-4 times a day… Read more

and then twice a day for the last 5 months. However, i had no qualms buying another one (cheap and hardly used on gumtree), and it is great! I used a medela pump in between, when my old avent busted, and it was hopeless- noisy and inefficient for me. I really think it depends ont he person with these pumps. In a nut shell i love the avent pump and proof is in the pudding when you buy a 2nd one to replace the first! Easy to use, good volume pumped for time ratio, fairly comfortable. Does not last forefver- but what does these days!

Did the job – I was recommended this one and duly purchased it when pregnant. Loved that it was easy to use, it did the job and it all came apart making cleaning and sterilising easy. I have never used another breast pump so I can't compare it to others as I was happy enough with this one. Easy to use I didn't understand the point of the silicone flower thingy.

Unreliable – This product was a disappointment. I used it once and it worked wonderfully. The next time, not so well but I put it down to my milk supply. Tried a third time and nothing - still gave the product the benefit of the doubt and blamed myself. Tried it a fourth time and still nothing - there is no discernible suction and no matter how many times we… Read more

Dissapointed! – Unfortunately it leaks, makes a squeaky noise, and no matter how many times I have boiled it and washed it and sterilised it with the Avent Microwave steriliser- all the transparent parts are STILL cloudy like they are mildewy or something. Not sure if my one is a faulty one, or if it's just not working anymore – Was happy with this breast pump until recently. This was purchased 5 months ago. As of a few weeks ago, the pump would randomly stop and sometimes not even start. The power connection point on the pump seems to be loose. Initially I would press and hold the connection point in and this worked for while, but now even that doesn't do the trick all… Read more

Very bad – I would not recommend this pump!!! It makes a squeaky sound when pumping (which is very very annoying), it leaks from where it is connected to the bottle and I have to be really careful with the silicone cover otherwise it leaks too!! Very disappointed since it is quite pricey :( what a waste of money

Never again! – I found this pump terrible! It made an off putting noise, the breast shield became loose after only a few uses and milk became trapped under it which became a huge waste as I never got more than 20ml from each side, it also was messy to use. I also found it really painful! Uncomfortable, painful, didn't get good amount of milk.

Terrible – It got very stressful trying to use this. I thought I couldn't express as was lucky to get 40ml, if anything. I have just purchased an electric pump (the Ameda Purely Yours) and it is absolutely brilliant. In comparison it just produced 160ml in 10mins! If you need to express, go electric. I didn't like anything. The only good thing was a product… Read more

accessory (the microwave sterilising kit) It hardly ever worked for me. I got 100ml once or twice but it got worse and worse through use (and I didn't use it that much) It regularly leaks from the let down cushion and when the milk did come it often pooled in the top part and wouldn't go into the bottle. There were also fiddly bits that are easy to lose when cleaning.

waste of money – well at first it works well then it losses suction after 3 usage, i called costumer care, they sudgest to use the spare part then it works then the next day it didnt, so frustrating to used took ages for me to assemble and get the sucktion going than to express milk, end up hand expressing..should have never bought one. its quicker to express using pump than hand expressing, if it actually works frustrating!!!! waste of money

These things DO work, so you probably didn't have it assembled correctly to allow a vacuum to be pulled.

Great for a manual pump – I had to use a pump very early on. When I oped the box I was very happy to see I received to bottles as well! Surprisingly comfortable! – I used the pump for the first time today. I was a bit apprehensive about using it as I was expecting expressing to be uncomfortable compared to breastfeeding. However as you can select the intensity, it allows you to go at your own comfort. Highly recommended!

Great for a manual breast pump – I purchased this after reading a lot of reviews on this site and decided to purchase it with the the Avent steriliser. compatible parts and equipment which was one of the main factors for me. Good value for money - especially if you pick it up on sale which happens regularly at the major stockists. I bought it at Toys R when it was on sale. One set of spare parts included. Takes a few goes to master. There are a few pieces to wash and attach, but is simple enough to put together after a few goes.

Excellent – I have 4 children and i have used 4 breast pumps over the years. I found the battery operated and electric the most uncomfortable and un-natural. Excellent – Defiantly a product I would recommend, its easy to use, practical and easy to express milk and use it straight away in a bottle or store it in the same container for future use. Excellent – Most importantly it works! And being manual, you will have good control over the pressure on your breast, so any pain issues can be managed. You can see the milk being expressed clearly which can help your let-down more. Comfortable and effective! Easy to set it up once you've had some practice. Lots of parts, some quite small, also sometimes breastmilk can leak a bit from under the "petal massager", but counteract this by keeping a firm seal.

Good – An excellent, mid to high end price product which does what it says it will do. Worth the money and very resaleable. The storage bottle system is excellent. milk. The design of the bottle part is easy to easy and sterilise either by boiling or in an Avent Steam steriliser. Once i got the hang of getting enough suction on my breast i found it was an excellent and very effective hand pump. It can take a while to get the hang of keeping the seal on your breast complete so it can actually suck properly. I found sometimes the handle would fall off as I hadn't attached it properly but thought I had. You need to stay with the one system once you start as other insulated bottle holdrs etc are often not compatible. It is not a cheap system but it is good quality.

Good – I really like the Avent Isis as an affordable breast pump. It was really easy to clean, sterilise and assemble. Good – I found this pump really useful. It is fairly easy to use and I found it effective, and I took a long time to let down even with my baby on the boob so this pump to be able to achieve a let down is a great thing. Good – I found that I really had to keep moving the pump around to keep pumping. Took me quite a few goes to get it right. I don't think this is suitable if you need to express daily as you hand gets pretty tired. Bottles fit onto the pump whch is very handy. Can be put into the steam steriliser to clean.
