Quick iron on light fabrics - difficult on heavier materials – This is perfect for a quick iron of a t-shirt or shirt just when you need to quickly press, dress and be out the door. I find I'm using this exclusively for my women's shirts - mostly cotton, polyester, some silk and blends and for things like pillow cases, underwear, or just a "top-up iron" when I want to wear an item of clothing again. It is… Read more

not really efficient time-wise, energy-wise or muscle-wise for things like thicker garments like jeans and jackets.

However, slightly damp heavier clothes can be effectively ironed ... this may be a solution for those of us that hate to use the regular iron once we already have the steamer operating.

No good – As with previous reviews, this product was good at the start but then after a few weeks it started playing up. It spurts boiling hot water out of the nozzle- even getting water on my ceiling and walls and it then leaves white chalky residue/marks on clothes, which then need to be re-cleaned. I have already returned and exchanged for a new steamer… Read more

Worked at first but broke after a few uses – Got this more than a year ago. We don't use it that often but it worked well at first. However it stopped working with no steam after our last use last Christmas. I have rinsed it as per the manual but there are white sand like sediments coming from the bottom of the machine. I've always trusted Philips as a brand but it seems that this has failed me this time.

Can't use due to the calcium residuals – I have the same issue with the steamer, after about 20 seconds the steamer starts to produce white powder. I don't have any calcium in my kettle or iron. But this steamer produces it a lot. I was also under impression that it is internal parts getting destroyed. I would not recommend it and I'd better read the review first.

Rubbish !! First it failed, went for a 2 week repair at Phillips so-called authorised repairer, used – Bought this over a year ago... used it less than 10 times then it stopped steaming.. rang Phillips, and organised repair at their authorized repair. Used it about 7 to 8 times and this time the steam comes out intermittently... Hate it.. Waste of money and time!

Might work but spews chalky water on clothes – Bought this to steam suit jackets that get creased from travelling. Steamed OK but then dumped large quantities of chalky residue all over the jacket, so needed dry cleaning. We don't get calcium deposits in iron, kettle etc so I'm starting to think this is some internal part deteriorating. Instructions say not to use descaler, but rinsing hasn't… Read more

removed the problem. Might be good for cleaning the BBQ but not useful for clothes. Cannot recommend, and doubt it can be called a garment steamer.

I will never trust Philips product again – I have had my QuickTouch for about two years. After having water splutter issues for a few times, it has stopped working totally. Now, when it is connected to the power point and turned on, water is no longer heated up hence no steam comes out at all. This is my 2nd product from Philips which is as bad as the first one. In my opinion, this is not a trusted brand. I will never buy Philips product again.

Splutters – Just reading the latest review to find that my steamer is doing the same. I too was quite happy with it for the first few months but now find that I am unable to use it as it spits hot water everywhere. I have lowered the setting to no avail. It was a great unit to begin with and now I am really disappointed as I am back to the ironing board.

Very Disappointing - Doesnt work at all – Unfortunately we've had exactly the same issue. We only used it about four times in an attempt to get it to work. Same water splutter issues as every one – I bought this late 2013 to replace my iron. It worked well for the first 2-3 months and i was quite pleased with the product, until the steamer started to splutter like a volcano. Each time i turned the steamer on, i had to get a towel and let it splutter for a few minutes into the towel then it'd fine. A bit dangerous if you tell me given that… Read more

it's quite hot water coming out of the steamer. In particular i couldn't just leave it turned on to heat up whilst i do other things and had to 'supervise' it on start up which was a bit annoying.

The next issue i found with the steamer (month 5 to 6) was that it would steam then it just stop. Sometimes, I'd be on a roll with steaming my 3rd working shirt for the week then had to resume the next day as i really didn't have the patience to turn it off, wait a few minutes and start again (which i did at the beginning trying to trouble shoot it).

Now.....I turn it on and no steam coming out...(keep on hearing this clicking noise which suggests its trying to heat, but turns itself off).

Overall, a year on it's boxing day and am looking to buy a steamer to replace this one and found that quite a few people had the same issue with me on this model.....so guess it must be the product or batch run we purchased.

Either way, i see Myer have a Tefal one going for $99 which one of my friends uses and she had no spluttering which is important (though on the review boards i notice it does too)....If this Phillips product didn't have any of the spluttering issues and worked as intended as it did for me on the first 2-3 months, this would be a winner.

Unfortunately, it does not.

Wish I'd never bought it – This product is a perfect example of how a really good idea can go wrong because of bad design and below average performance. I've had this steamer for more than a year but have only used it about five times. Why? Because instead of giving me lovely de-wrinkling steam, it spits and sputters boiling water at my clothes, and I end up with even more… Read more

wrinkles and a very damp outfit. dampness.

I called Philips and they told me the sputtering problem was caused by water left in the container from the previous use. I had to empty the container after every use, they said. And this is where the rotten design kicks in - there is no way to empty the container easily because for some stupid reason the water tank is NOT removable. The steamer is one, completely fused machine and unless you have arms like an octopus and the flexibility and strength of a circus performer it's impossible to turn it upside down so that you can tip the water out.

So your only option then is to either stop using it, or to use it and just wait and wait till it's done sputtering and spitting boiling water and starts to steam.

Problem is that even if you do that, the flow of steam is not constant. It starts and stops and spits water at your clothes in between. As a result the performance is very poor and doesn't do a good job.

Bad design, poor performance, impossible to tip the water out between uses because water tank is not removable

often that you have to rinse. Is it every single use?) sometimes, the water spurts out water with some kind of white dusty powder causing my cloth to be patches. Is it because of the water condition in adelaide?

3) seems to work okay when it really works. But sometimes no steam coming out.

I wonder is mine already broken? Or if its not, any solution to make it work the way it should? Any recommendation for other steam iron that works superb and require minimum maintenance please. Great for refreshing dry-clean only fabrics. Not so great iron – I purchased this primarily to help refresh and clean my dry-clean only items (e.g. suits, jackets, coats, ties, silk, suede, etc) and it works very well for that purpose. It removes mild stains very well, in addition to giving the whole garment a nice refresh. In fact, I feel it does a better job than the dry cleaners in many instances as it is… Read more

more delicate and there is no chemical smell (and cheaper!).

I don't use it as an iron as I like my ironed clothes to look a lot 'sharper' with creased edges in a way that only comes with ironing against an ironing board. If you are happy with a 'soft' ironed look, this may work for you.

It generates a lot of steam, so much so that I was worried the smoke alarms would sound or my ceiling would get wet. As indicated in the instructions, you do have to keep the hose in a relatively vertical position to allow the steam to rise and flow very freely. If the hose is bent too much, condensation forms in the hose and it drips out water. This makes it a little more tricky if you use it to steam your bed, couch, etc. It's a good solid design, and more aesthetically pleasing than many steamers on the market, but it's a lot bigger than I was anticipating from the picture. Great for 'refreshing' dry clean only garments and fabrics Not so great as an iron

At best its a fun toy – This is a bit of a toy, fun to play with for a bit but the novelty soon wears off. Definitely not an iron replacement. I had such great hopes, as like most of the other reviewers I hate ironing. I only iron occasionally (or just the children's school clothes) and generally use an ironing service. I bought the Philips on special for less than… Read more

the cost of a trip to the ironing lady so I thought even if it wasn't very good it didn't matter.

It is quite good for doing dedicates such as silk/satin/chiffon type fabrics which you would not like to do with an iron. Also good for suit jacket/blazer (saves a trip to the dry cleaners) and woolens. But for normal ironing it is hopeless, it takes a lot longer than ironing. It is slightly more fun than ironing, but I don't know how you could stand there and do a whole basket of stuff.

I think it takes longer as you have to keep redoing heavier cotton things over and over and you have to be careful about burning your hands. I find trousers and dresses especially difficult as you are not supposed to bend the hose otherwise it starts spluttering, Well how do you do the bottom of trousers or dresses without bending down to them?

And how do you do the ends of anything without burning your hand - even with a mitten. My model did come with a mitten, but I think it needs a least a two - one for each hand as it is difficult to do both sides of a garment with one hand. The mitten is a bit awkward for trying to hold onto an end of a frill or hem. Also the nozzle splutters a lot (this is fixed by turning off, draining water from nozzle and restarting).

The item also sends a lot of steam into the air not sure what it is doing to my ceilings! The steam is very hot and if it touches you it gives quite a burn. Overall I wouldn't recommend it, at best it is a novelty - I suggest looking at other reviews for other makes/models to see if any live up to the dream. Good on delicates Useless on anything else

for spot cleaning on my rugs. I am impressed with the results. The trick is to try and keep the wand vertical most of the time or it will start to sputter and water will come out with the steam.

It did a great job on the drapes and mattresses and doesn't make them wet afterwards. The water container is built into the machine so it cannot leak water at all which is a bonus as most of the other ones have one that can be removed and they often don't sit correctly into the machine which causes water leaks. It does a great job on curtains and lounges The water container could be much bigger, you have to keep an eye on it as it uses water quickly
