The only minor downside is that check-in starts at 8 a.m., so if you want to leave early, you’ll need to pick up the car the evening before. On the plus side, the drop-off service is very convenient—self-service and available at any time.
Overall, a reliable service that I would definitely recommend!

Polo. It had plenty of grunt on the highway and was the perfect car for just me. It was good on fuel, had a phone charging pad, and wireless Apple car play.
I paid for the full cover package which included roadside assist, tyres and windscreens, and zero excess. It ended up being the same price as the rental but the total cost was still ok.
Dropping the car keys back was easy however there are no airport signs for Alamo car rental return so I just dropped it off in row H where I picked I up.
I would definitely use Alamo again!

Follow-up · No hidden fees. You can also choose the level of insurance. Fuel economy was good. I travelled over 100km and fill-up was convenient, just around the corner from the drop-off point. Drop-off was stress-free.

He raised concerns about my phone numbers having different country codes (which I explained was due to the system requesting two numbers for my international situation) and questioned discrepancies in my international driver's permit translation. When I clarified that the address difference was simply the notary's office versus my home address, he remained unconvinced and demanded proof of residence, which I provided via my lease contract.
2. Aggressive Insurance Upselling: The most concerning issue was the pressure to purchase the most expensive insurance package. [Name Removed] claimed I would owe $5,200 AUD upfront if the car was returned with any scratch, before any inspection or assessment. However, after carefully reviewing the contract, I discovered this was misleading—the agreement clearly distinguishes between normal wear and tear and actual damage from accidents or poor usage. This critical detail was never disclosed to me.
3. Intimidation Tactics: Throughout the rental period, I felt anxious that fabricated damage would be used to justify the $5,200 deductible upon return. Fortunately, the vehicle was returned in the same condition, but this fear was entirely unnecessary.
I felt scammed despite having a pre-planned trip that made switching companies impossible. I recommend other travelers to hire at other car rental companies.

was clean and model as requested. The only annoying thing I found after returning car, is being charged nearly $70 in toll charges with extra handling fees for each individual toll. which showed up on my credit card over a week later. I did not recieve an itemised receipt so really don't know where and when I got them. I knew I had used them so that was not in question, rather just all the little add on charges. Returning the car was easy, although the return area at the moment is a long way from the terminal to get your luggage to check-in as there was no trolleys available in the drop off area.. There is quite alot of construction and works going on in this part of the terminal. I would use this company again. A hint when considering full car insurance. I took out my own policy for comprehensive that still covers everything with RentalCover insurance company. Much cheaper than with actual rental company.

upgrade to Skoda sports car,which was entirely unsuitable for our needs.Jess offered a better alternative,and while it certainly would not have a vehicle I would request,it proved adequate for our needs.I am not a fan of Chinese cars and this one did not change my mind.It only had a puncture repair kit ( luckily not needed,but not suited to Australian conditions) and the blind spot warning system had a mind of it’s own,and stayed on all day on 2 occasions.The lane correction system was unpredictable and certainly kept my mind on the road.The gauges and instruments were far too small to read,and the warnings messages,alerts etc that flashed up were hard to read,did not display for long,and were more a distraction than a help.The car did the job,but further reinforced my opinion of Chinese built cars.

the airport even more simple. I picked up a Toll charge which I only learned about after I returned to the UK and reviewed my invoice. My bank wanted to charge a fee higher than the Toll charge to make the payment and I didn't want to provide my credit card details via email. I emailed Lukas in customer services who was very prompt and efficient and he put me in touch with Faizan in their credit department. Both responded to emails clearly and promptly and send me a secure payment link. I would use again and recommend to friends.
