parties insurance company confirmed their liability, provided written acknowledgement that they would cover repairs, the owners response was “that means nothing” and that he was under no legal obligation to provide a “refund” of my insurance excess deposit, it’s up to his discretion if he returns it, and he’s not inclined to do so.

FULL STORY: “All Age Car Rentals”/“Gold Coast Car Hire”/“Surfers Paradise Rental Cars”

While initially very happy with the business and the owner - the car was affordable and he seemed friendly - we were eventually left very disappointed with the owners conduct and the unprofessionalism of the business.

To begin with Nissan Pulsar provided to us was faulty and the air conditioning/heating fan was jammed off and was not able to be turned off. The owner of this business also has identifying photos of previous clients in his office whom have received traffic infringements, stapled to the wall with statements such as “OUR FIRST IDIOT!”

However, this pales in comparison to the experience with receiving our insurance excess deposit back. We were involved in a minor not-at-fault accident while returning the car. The person who caused the accident happily provided all their insurance details and admitted liability (we were hit from behind whole stopped) and the vehicle was returned. The business held our insurance excess deposit as expected, while the insurance liability was established. This took place 29/03/25

The vehicle was provided to the business’s repairer 07/04/25, where the repairer was provided the incorrect insurance details and contact information (and left unable to repair the vehicle) as confirmed by the repairer in later conversations.

28/04/25 - I attempted to contact the business to ask what was happening and when I could expect to receive my refund. I was informed that he had no idea what was going on, would follow it up and return my call the following day. A call which was never received.

29/04/25 - Subsequently, I made contact with the at fault party and their insurance company confirming that they had accepted liability. This information was relayed to the business and I was advised that he would check with the repairer, and get back to me.

09/05/25 - I made contact with the business, asking for a status update and was informed again that the vehicle was with the repairer and he didn’t know the status but would check the following morning and get back to me

10/05/15 - I followed up with the business that afternoon was told that he had been trying to contact repairer “all morning” but that the repairer wasn’t answering his phone and wasn’t working. I requested the name of the repairer, and immediately made contact with the repairer myself. The repairer provided me photos of the information that had been given to him with the car, showing that it did not include the correct insurance contact information but that he had attempted to make contact. I contacted the correct insurance company, got the contact information, provided it to the repairer and he immediately sent it to the insurer.

12/05/25 & 13/05/25 - After spending several hours on the phone with insurance, I was able to receive written confirmation that they had accepted liability from the accident and that they would repair the vehicle. I spoke with the owner of the rental company and advised him of this, to which he said to email him through my account details and he would return the insurance excess deposit.

14/05/25 - Made contact with the owner again and asked the status of my insurance excess deposit return. He told me that the insurance companies written confirmation of liability and intention to repair his vehicle “means nothing” and that he is not legally obligated to return an insurance excess deposit. He advised that in his view, he is entitled to keep any deposit, and that he’s inclined to keep ours - and that if I had a problem with this, I should take it up with the Office of Fair Trading.

This is what I’ll be doing at 9am tomorrow morning, and I am happy to provide the written or audio transcriptions of our communications to any hesitant prospective clients of this business.

The van was available in Bilboa as booked and although it had some minor issues this was not on Imoova, Indie Campers were informed and fixed any problems. Show details

chance and made a booking. The communication from the booking all the way through was outstanding, we could relax knowing everything was taken care of. Tina was at the airport when we arrived, and chatted with us all the way to the depot. The car was clean and well maintained and perfect for our needs. The prices are great and as they state, we weren't charged any "extras" what we were quoted is exactly what we paid (unlike other car hire). We were picked up in the Gold Coast and dropped of in Brisbane after hours without issues. The Service is so far above the big car hire companies I wouldn't recommend anyone else for a trip to the Gold Coast. If I could rate 10 stars I would! A big thank you for a seamless hire!

intimidated by the rundown appearing office space, not gonna lie, but staff were super friendly and helpful! Took off directly to the local supermarket to stock up, filled the van and fridge and my Johnny wouldn't start (dead starter motor is my guess - just unlucky!) I called some numbers and eventually someone came to help. We unloaded and abandoned that Johnny, went back to the depot and they gave me another van which thankfully didn't skip a beat!! The bed was comfy for my 6 nights, I got a double fitted sheet for the base and used Pillows and a quilt with covers. The little kitchenette great and useful, the van was easy to drive and fairly economical running on unleaded. My first van had a phone holder and fans in the rear, but the second one didn't. Be sure to check and ask and the staff who will help with whatever your need. My second van seemed to be a foreign version. All buttons were not English which made it very tricky. I wasnt able to use the stereo system (dont think there was bluetooth but that might just be me...) so was very glad I had bought along my rechargeable boombox for music! There are also cigarette socket USB charge points, just bring your cords. I drove from Cairns to Townsville and back detouring along to Milla-Milla for a night after waterfall hopping all the way! own bus was due to leave with other passengers. They have no hidden nasty costs and have always immediately returned our bond fee. This company delivers everything it promises and is for sure supportive of families with small children as our friends have also reported their experiences . This company donates to several charities. They have won genuine awards for their ongoing trustworthy services.
