Works except for kinks – I bought my machine 2nd-hand from Gumtree and have used it for a month. I needed to buy a replacement bulb and nose cone from the Remington website. Remington had great customer service. I found a significant difference in my leg hair after 2 uses and was very encouraged by the progress. Unfortunately my brand new bulb has already used up all… Read more
it's flashes after a month, which I find very hard to believe. It also overheated very quickly and I often needed to turn it off and on and wait for it to cool down. I intend to purchase a brand new upgraded machine.
It works! – Pros: It's a lot cheaper then salon treatments I've been to in the past. Very easy to use and it appears to be having the same results as I'd get from my salon treatments Cons: It overheats a lot, this doesn't hurt the machine but it seems to happen every 50-60 flashes. When it overheats the machine simply stops until its cooled down enough to… Read more · 1
continue.
Other: 1500 flashes is not that much, I was able to do both my legs, underarms and bikini line and my boyfriend was able to do his entire chest with the one bulb but considering you have to repeat the treatment every four weeks for almost a year and each replacement bulb costs $70 it can become a little pricey, however it is still cheaper then going to a salon
Also I have very pale skin and dark brown hair and my boyfriend also has pale skin but blondy/brown hair. The machine has worked a lot better for me however it has resulted in hair reduction for my boyfriend too
Overall: I like this machine, it is value for money (I got it for $299) and I've seen considerable improvement already after my first session.
**Note it takes about 14 days for the hairs to fall out
Good – Overall, I am extremely happy with this system and it's effectiveness. I am so happy to have found something which decreases my hairgrowth. I am much less self-conscious and can almost do away with most other hair removal products. I love it. It actually works!! I absolutely love the Lumasmooth!! Although it didn't get rid of every hair, it… Read more
dramatically decreased hair growth to a huge extent. I spent a lot of money for professional sessions through a salon for only a small area as I really wanted to address my hair growth, and this system is just as effective and turns out to be so much cheaper. I was ecstatic that it worked, and am very happy with it!! It overheats fairly frequently if you are using it on larger areas i.e. legs, so you need to turn it off and then come back to it. Otherwise, there are no other cons.
OK – Well I have just used the lumasmooth for the second time in 3 weeks or so. I have it for 3 month trial through a major retail outlet and got 25% ($200) off the cost off in a sale. I can return for a full refund in around 5 weeks, and I am considering it. The hair on my legs has had no impact at all. The bikini line 'may' be better, as may be the… Read more
'hormone strip'. This is the area on the back of the thigh running the length of the muscle where women often get long dark hair growing. The globe at $70 plus is expensive to replace every 1500 flashes. Unit works from settings 1-5. I am using 5 everywhere except armpits as that burns a bit. I have had loads of professional treatments and spent $1000's and was not happy with IPL at all. I am constantly contacting the manufacturer who claims it works as well as professional IPL, but just takes lots longer. They say not to use on the chin, lip etc, but I am and it is fine. Also the 'privates' are out of bounds which I am keen to try. I think the manufacturer wants to cover possible burns/pigment damage/discolouration in these areas, but I am not worried about that. The strength of the IPL unit is minimal compared to professional, so what more harm can one do to their personal areas? I am fair skinned with quite dark hair growth in an average amount. Lightweight and easy to use; simple design; my teenagers were confident to try it; I have it for 3 months trial and can return for full refund if not happy. Cannot see any difference on legs at all. Have to shave after almost 30 years of waxing/epilating so back to prickly legs; overheats constantly on larger uses;contradictions in booklet on when to use. i.e. on regrowth of hair verses only every 3 weeks to work in with hair growth patterns. Globe only lasts 1500 flashes and at $70+ to replace...VERY COSTLY!
Overheats way too quickly – I bought the lumasmooth to do an entire chest and stomach area. Have used it 5 times so far with minimal change (fair skin dark hair). Unfortunately the unit over heats in u dee 2 minutes and has to completely cool before continuing ( level 5). So to do one sitting of a chest area takes at least 5 resets. Also the globe life is very short… Read more
considering I need to replace and have not seen many improvements to date.
Still going to continue with it as the growth is slowing slightly Private Overheating. Cost of bulbs
Going good so far – I've used this 5 times on my underarms now, and before the last time had let the hair grow quite a bit. You could definitely notice the difference when the hair came through!! There were large gaps and some of the hair fell out also. I have very fair skin and dark hair, and I use setting #4. I've also used it on my toes (three times) and have had… Read more · 2
no hair growth since Nov.
It is slow going, I do it every 2-3 weeks but I am noticing results. I've had professional IPL which did last around 2 years, but have let it go for 3 years now. This seems to be a cheaper way of maintaining it myself Easy to use, minimum pain and cheaper than professional IPL Overheats easily, very small surface area considering you can't do facial hair
