Samsung Galaxy Ace (2011)

Happy fone – The Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 is an easy phone to work out & navigate with the exception of not being able to delete the apps that come with the Galaxy Ace. The android system is a tad slow in processing time but I can put up with that but some people might not.
Please don't waste money on this – Battery life is terrible and phone restarts all the time. Sometimes simply to get a call it takes around 5 min or I have to restart it.
Aweful – Got this as a loan phone while another Samsung was being repaired. Major problems with abysmal internal storage. Google Play and Samsung Apps will cripple this phone. Don't expect to be able to use any apps, or recieve messages.
Hate it!! – Worst phone i've ever had!! it forever turns itself off, resets itself and the keypad won't work when u got to type a message at times!! have upgraded it and im about ready to throw it in the fire!! its always "loiw" on spage even though i haven't got that much on it!! keypad freezes, resets itself! turns itself off!!
Worst phone ever – As noted before, it has hardly any memory, you can't move much to the SD card and it constantly updates apps I have never used and never have any intention of using which would mean I'd have no memory left! It would just turn itself off for no particular reason, sometimes in the middle of sending a text. Sometimes the screen would be… Read more
unresponsive, sometimes too responsive.
Runs out of battery & memory VERY quickly.
Unfortunately I was locked into a 2 year contract with it so it got sworn at A LOT! When I asked if it could be replaced (because it kept dying) Samsung said I could send it back but they'd have it for at least 2 weeks. As if!
I am SO glad my contract is up. Nice small size. Almost everything else.
Not worth it – Purchased about 8 months ago, worst thing is its out of memory and you are unable to move the apps to your SD card that you have put in as the field is disabled. So basically stuck with a phone that cannot get app updates and you are unable to move apps to your SD Card. What is the point? Memory is too low. Should be branded as this as they still retail for over a hundred dollars and you will be unable to use within a couple of months
Love the duos – I had the dual sim Samsung Smartphone until the mouse like button in the middle stopped working, so have upgraded to the touch screen duos. I love the dual sim,. I have think and vodaphone which means I have even greater coverage wherever I go. My friends are showing me how to use the features I want, including how to put in the memory card… Read more
and how to go to speaker phone Dual sim gives greater network coverage No you tube demonstration for older less tech savy users
Worst Ever – Useless phone no mem ory if they tnk 75 MB phone mem is ok then we have been ripped off. They have promised to escalate this 2 times since July 2013...nothing yet. Also you can not move enough to an external mem card as some will not transfer...so it was impossible to update my Mapping... Looks ok Many things, it should have been advertised as a basic phone with mem on the box.

Love the Dual SIM – At the time, I couldn’t find this in Aus, and had to order from Hong Kong. I LOVE the Dual SIM feature. It allowed me to have both my work SIM, and personal SIM in one phone. In Australia, it allows me to have a Telstra pre-paid SIM for use on mine-sites, and my regular carrier SIM for use in the city. I must admit that I don’t use many of… Read more
the “Smart-Phone” features. The phone is a handy size, although I imagine some power-users of apps would prefer a larger screen.
Battery life is excellent when charged using the mains charger, but a bit hit & miss when using USB.
Overall I’ve had not problems with it. Dual SIM, good battery life. Not widely available, USB charging is erratic
Not being told the truth about the phone I purchased – I was told when I was buying my phone that I would have plenty of memory on it.I have since found out that my model phone doesn't have hardly any memory on it.( I have only download facebook and one small game)If I had been told this previously I would not have purchased it.I have been told by Samsung they can't do anything about it.I believe I should have been told the truth right from the start. very small memory
The most apt example of humanity's regression that I can think of – I got my Galaxy Ace for free and I still feel ripped off. Such a horrible phone, if you're considering purchasing this phone, do yourself a favour and amputate your leg instead, you'll be better off. The phone struggles to open applications, lags frequently, has issues connecting to WIFI networks (restarting the phone solves this for those… Read more
struggling with it) and the battery lasts about 3-4 hours, which should blush the faces of those at Samsung responsible for this masterpiece, even the work experience kid who made the coffee's while the Ace was on the drawing board should be renditioned to a gulag in Poland. Trying to give an unbiased review, I sat here for 8 mins thinking about the pro's, this is what I came up with.
Bad – This is the worst phone I have ever owned, owned it for a year, it was nothing but trouble since the day that I bought it. It lagged constantly, and apps frequently crashd for no apparant reason, and often took forever to load. I had to do a 'hard reset' twice in a year, which means restoring the phone to factory settings after it refused to turn… Read more
on. Don't get me started on the battery life, it basically renders the phone useless for anyone who doesn't carry a charger at all times or goes out for longer than four hours. The battery drained very quickly, and was unpredictable, sometimes it would last for a reasonable (albeit still poor compared to other phones) amount of time, other times it would drain after 30 minutes of use.
Honestly, you can get an S2 for not much more than the price of an Ace these days. I would go with an S2 if you actually want to use your phone. Interface wasn't half bad Battery life, processing power, glitchy software
Unreliable for calls – Had to quickly buy a new phone as was getting tired of using my old Motorola 2G phone to send texts and thought these new smartphones were a whole lot better. Newer is not necessarily better as I discovered. Got sucked in by the cheap price at Telstra. Unfortunately, within days had to send this phone back for repair as all you could hear was… Read more
buzzing and squeaking whenever a call was made or received. Everything was reset, but now some calls are starting to drop out for no real reason and it is only 6 months old.
It handles internet browsing, video clips and SMS text with ease, but really a phone should be a phone and I view call function as more important than web access, etc, which costs you a lot anyway on a mobile and is more easier/faster to do on a home computer or tablet. Samsung clearly don't have quality control and are just producing rubbish out of China. Internet browsing, SMS, emailing Call reception/receiving

Never Buy Samsung Product again! – My phone is still under warranty. In last 6 month, my phone was away to fix 3 times for total over 4 month period of time. Every time the service center promise will take 7-10 working days, but always appears taking over 1 month. The technician center took over 3 weeks/2 times to test and found out the blue teeth faulty, hopeless. I finally gave… Read more

pool quality product and very bad warranty/repair services.
Bull sh#t – This has to be the worst phone samsung has ever made. At the beginning it's great but after the first month or 2 it is terrible and that is an understatement. Firstly the battery life is not more than 4 hours standby time and it takes 30 mins to charge it. Then the wifi, wait what wifi it doesn't even connect to the wifi, samsung clames it… Read more
does but not for me.
Thirdly the bluetooth doesn't work, every time I try to turn it on, it's says error cannot connect.
After that the software, the installed software is android 2.5, that means you can't install 80% of the apps on google play because all the apps are designed for android 4.0.
There are heaps of other bull sh#t things about this phone that a can't put in this review but I hope you got the idea
Don't Waste Your Money – This is my first Smart phone, which hasn't won me at all. Had it for 8 months now, Rung Samsung 6 times, went into Harvey Norman 3 times. I have had nothing but trouble. I had to do a factory reset, which I lost absolutely everything on my phone. The factory reset help a little, but not to satisfaction. When phone is completely out of battery… Read more
life, and then I charge, I couldn't turn it back on, had to call Samsung to do a reset or something. When charging overnight somehow, it had turn itself off, so I had no alarm, (that happened to me twice). I think the screen is small and you have to keep deleting things on your phone if you want to download new app. I would never ever recommend this phone! easy to text the phone reset's itself whenever it feels like it
Poor performance – I upgraded from my older Samsung Galaxy 5 which was a brilliant phone that was slowing down and coming up with the full memory notification all the time despite me deleting everything possible from it. Within a month of getting this phone I was once again getting full memory messages and have once again been deleting everything I can off it. It is… Read more
constantly knocking back messages that come in becasue of low storage space and so I am constantly deleting messages to make room. Compared to my kids who get hundreds of messages on their iphone everyday I hardly get any.....about 15 incoming would be a big day for me, and this piece of junk still can't handle it.
I have similar battery issues to the other users and just find it really slow at times. It's a shame because until thisphone I'd have had no qualms recommending a Samsung.
Love the swype function now I've mastered it. No probs with blue tooth in the car but it took ages for the dealer to set it up and in the end the problem was fixed by turning the phone on and off. It takes ages to scan and start once turned on again too. The camera locks too easily and it always takes me ages to figure out how it unlocks again. GPS is brilliant. Swype and talk function is good. Doesn't seem to have much storage space and memory was full in under a month. Always having to delete stuff of clear the cache to get it running again. Takes way to long to start up after a power off and thew battery life is poor.
Regret Buying – After only owning this phone for 6 months it started freezing, not allowing calls or opening any applications. It is very slow and temperamental. It is also hard to work out where you want to store data. I am not the only person I know who has had these problems. I really regret buying this phone, would never recommend. the design slow, freezes
Could be smarter – This is my first smart phone and honestly the battery life only initially lasted a few hours, It is better now but still could be better. If you recharge with the USB the battery doesn't last so always use the power adapter for a full charge. Apps crash a bit. It's not a terrible phone. I quite like it and it's easy to use. You can use the data on… Read more

wish I can go back to my old phone – lost my phone on a holiday then have to make quick decision for replacement one, galaxy ace it is! NOT :-( basically it is a great smart phone with all its application, if ONLY the battery can actually support it. It doesn't last long, pretty poor, it doesn't even last one whole day if you're actively using your phone, let's say around 18hrs? So… Read more
make sure to carry your charger everywhere. But I guess the most important thing is you want a phone that's reliable when you actually need to make/receive phone call, I hope Samsung will develop a longer lasting batter for galaxy ace. because price-wise galaxy ace is reasonable, just needs a stronger working battery. great smart phone very short-lived battery
Ever seen a phone fly – Always loved samsungs and android, purchased at a good price. I noticed after six months it was starting to slow down, it would freeze up, the battery wouldn't last. I plug it in every night to charge, and quite often have to do a system restore. This phone gets my blood boiling and the only thing that stops me from throwing it, is the fact that I… Read more
need it every minute. I despise it and feel like going back to my old pone Great screen size, easy to navigate, great apps, unbreakable. Would freeze up, battery wouldnt last, slow.
Worth the Money – After always having Nokia's I eventually had to take the plunge into smartphones. After careful review and being a staunch Macintosh user, I wanted an iPhone but just couldn't justify the price. So I opted for the Samsung at nearlly a third the price of the iPhone. For a first time Android and smartphone user it works very well, and didn't take… Read more
long to figure out how to use.
The only real issue with it is the battery life. Even on very low usage, it still needs to be charged every second day. Use the internet, games or any apps, charged every day. And don't even mention videos, tethering or GPS apps, you get a couple of hours max!
Other issues I've had include transfering files via bluetooth, nightmare. And Wifi connectivity overseas is pretty poor comparitive to iPhone.
Apart from that, you get what you pay for. Smartphone capabilities, large screen, support, duarabiliity. Battery life, fiddly touchpad keyboard, bluetooth transfers, Wifi connectivity a bit flaky

I love this phone – I was surprised at how easy it was to use. After using a basic flip phone for many years I was resistant to upgrading to this type of phone but received it as a birthday gift in August. I resisted opening the box for a month and was presently surprised when I did take the plunge. However as an avid game player I was disappointed with the battery… Read more
life. Game players. Don't take this phone anywhere without a charger nearby. Stylish. Easy to operate. Great apps. The battery has a super short life.
The ideal smart phone for those on a budget – The moment I unpacked the 'Ace', I was impressed with its high quality and sturdy appearance and it just felt 'right' in the hand. It was easy to set-up and get going and has functioned without any problems during the past 3 months. For the experimenter, there is a range of 'custom roms'(not supported by Samsung or Google)and an enormous number of… Read more
Apps available(many of them free)for Android phones available from Google Market. A great phone for a little price Instruction booklet print very small
unreliable SMS – Hurray, bought a smart phone, but have had regular frustrations with SMS and battery life. SMS? Often would fail in sending an SMS, and then would take forever, or at least 6 tries, before the message was actually sent. Battery life...like another user, have found that it can rarely last a good day of use without being recharged. Good looking, variety of apps available Nearly ready to chuck it out, when it gives me trouble with SMS again!
Really glad I bought this – After avoiding Smartphones for several years (and not really being in a financial position to buy one outright on pre-paid) I finally decided to bite the bullet and get this phone from Telstra. Priced at $199, it really is excellent value. I feel it certainly competes with many of the higher-priced Smartphones on the market, and it is very easy to… Read more
set up and use on a day to day basis. I find navigating around it pretty easy, although there are A LOT of apps built in that I doubt I'll ever use.
Features include 5 Megapixel Camera, GPS, FM Radio Built-In, MP3 Player Built-In, 32 GB Expandable Memory (micro SD). 3.5 Inch Touchscreen, and is very light in the hand.
It's powered by Android so there are literally thousands of apps available for this phone, and many of them are free. I'm pretty excited by this, and I have quickly discovered a few favourites I can't go past. The download is very quick.
There are only two real negatives of this phone: one is the very short battery life. I can only use it for a couple of hours before it needs charging, and even sitting idle sucks up the battery power as I would imagine there'd be a few background systems running. If you try to use the GPS you really need a portable charger (we bought one for the car) as it uses ridiculous amounts of battery. The other is that we haven't yet found a way to transfer extraneous stuff onto the SD card (maybe you can't) so once you've got a few apps on there there isn't room for any more. However I'm fairly new to this caper and don't find this an issue just yet (my partner has one and is a bit frustrated by it though!).
I'm extremely happy with this phone so far, and am very glad I bought it. If the battery life were longer I would probably give it 5 stars. Easy to use, heaps of apps for Andriod (many free) and was a great price. Battery life is very short and the phone needs charging at least once, if not twice a day.

I gave it to a neighbour, but as she doesn't use it to go online, she's happy with it.
