Samsung HT-BD1255
Verified1 review
Unsafe and Expensive – Bought this to go with an LED TV. The sound was excellent, but integration with the TV was poor. The finish on the unit and speakers is easily damaged. After about 1 year of use HT-BD1255 overheated, emitted a toxic order (capacitor shorted out), and when I went to inspect it I burnt two fingers on the bottom metal plate, it was that hot. Fifteen more minutes and it would have burned the house down.
Not sure what happened (fan may have failed), but was one month out of warranty, cost $300 to fix (power board replaced), but I am wary of using it, as it may yet burn my house down. Samsung showed no interest in the fact that a consumer electronics device failed unsafe, refused to return my calls when I sought to discuss compensation, and in the end had a person, who made a point of stating that she did not work in the relevant department, ask me for all the information again, after three weeks of the call centre promising someone would get back to me in 48 hours. Given the price, the poor system integration, lack of quality and dubious safety of the unit I can not recommended. Good sound Poor quality, unsafe and unreliable
