A good looking fridge but what good is that when it has so many faults?? – Rusted door below ice maker x 3, malfunctioning ice maker (ongoing), gas leaks x 3. Owning this fridge has been hard work and a lot of unnecessary stress. Samsung have repaired our fridge numerous times and now, at the nine year mark are told it’s had a fair life. Great Fridge – Bought this fridge at least 10 years ago, cant find receipt. Had no issues apart from having to replace the bottom hinge on freezer and the Ice maker has finally stopped(ordering replacement now), which I bought online and did myself. Has churned out Ice day after day(lots of use) and keeps temperature very well. I cant find a replacement I like and has a good review so fixing the old girl up. Show details

Dissatisfied customer – Hi, I'm another person who has had the same problem due to manufacturers defect. Purchased fridge in 2011 and it too developed rust and bubbled up below the water dispenser. I had it repaired under warranty 4 or 5 yrs ago. And now the same problem. I called Samsung. They told me it not under warranty and gave me a number to a customer repair… Read more

service. I called them and they charged me $160 call out fee and sent me a quote to change the door for $889. Not impressed.

Bad Electronics ! – The control boards were replaced twice under the manufactures warranty in the first two years & then two weeks prior to expiry of the extended five year warranty all of the control boards had to be replaced. At this point we had the ice maker issue a third time and after an initial ice maker control board replacement the technician could not get… Read more

the fridge operating so replaced all the boards. Two & a half years on & we have "PC Err" indicating a "Communication Error between the control boards possibly wiring plugs". So at most we get two & a half years out of the electronics before they fail yet again. Really not what you'd expect from any product. It was not the most expensive fridge but certainly mid range price at the time of purchase in 2013, build quality looked reasonable but has had a few plastic part issues also under warranty. General operation has not been an issue & it still looks as good as the day we received it but Samsung are not interested in even looking at it to see what the ongoing issues might be. I would not buy another Samsung fridge.

The best fridge in the entire world – I Love...... this fridge. Everything about it from its internal size, the shelving configuration, the fruit and veg drawers along with the fresh drawer, the LED lighting (always gets everyone when they open the fridge) and the filtered water and ice-maker. The freezer is a good size as well in a deceptive way. I thought it was small with the… Read more ·  1

ice making machine in there, but the size is quite deceptive when in actual use, I can buy in bulk and still have room left. The ice-maker isn't as noisy as my friends fridge ice-maker which is good and the front doors and handles don't look dirty with fingerprints. It was also very easy to install - I did it myself with the instructions that came with it - they were very easy to read. I do love this fridge, well worth the $2,248 we paid for it. No fingerprints, the size, the filtered water on tap. The egg compartment could be lower and you can't fit a lettuce crisper in without lifting one of the shelves.

Has good and bad - Overall a good fridge – I've had this fridge for a year now. I think that everybody should at least own a piece of equipment for at least a year before they write a review. The good: - lighting - doors self close (if not too much weight in doors) - good size. - quiet (except for ice dropping) - shelves and handles seem strong and decent. The bad: - my freezer… Read more ·  1

door stainless steel is bubbling with rust under 1 year old.

- water leaks out of the freezer door handle somehow and has left rust stains

- drawers don't open up enough to fit an iceberg lettuce inside them. They are a bit useless.

- the ice dispenser is noisy (most are though, but this is noiser than my sisters LG).

- the ice dispenser has stopped working once. I believe it froze up. I had to defrost the freezer then it worked again.

When shopping for a fridge, it was a hard decision as always, but this model was good value for its size and features. I'm not sure if I'd get another one mainly due to the rust doors. This is in the process of getting repaired under warranty so I'll keep you posted on the result.

Brilliant fridge/freezer for many years – Has been a great fridge for approx 8-9 years so far, Ice and water dispenser used everyday, survived 3 house moves but it is easily dented on the exterior, not super efficient either using nearly 2kw/h per day  Show details

Reliable, good temperature control, convenient – Consistent temperature control, plenty of room inside. Ice and water in door are great, despite taking up a fair bit of freezer space. Still plenty left for the needs of a family of 4. Good internal layout assists this. Compartments in fridge maintain temperature well, and are well arranged. Love the fridge – We got this fridge for 4 years already and we had moved state to state few times, and it is still working so good. The fridge can fit lots of stuff in. It keeps celery and carrot nice and crunch, and food last for reasonable period. We just love the water and ice dispenser, it certainly makes life easy. The only bad thing is energy rating only 1.5 stars.  Show details

Problems – Initially we were happy with the fridge however like others there is rust below the water dispenser. The water dispenser leaks so we have had to turn off the connection at the tap and the temperature of the fridge will not go below 7 degrees despite lowering it to its maximum 1 degree. Show details

Terrible fridge - avoid - save your money – Immediately after owning it, the screen stopped working in sections and we had to get that part replaced. dispenser off as the individual pieces end up freezing in one giant clump and the mechanism makes awful noise when trying to fix. We havent had ice in years. Similar to other reviews, i tried to contact Samsung and had no response and now we have owned it for sometime there is no way they would help. I also googled it at the time and it is a known problem, many people spoke of having their doors replaced. The water doesnt even come out cold anymore - hasnt for sometime . Freezer doesnt maintain a great temp.. some things are soft when we take them out. The drawers in the fridge are a huge pain in the bum, you cannot open them unless the fridge door is open and bent right back at a 90 degree angle to the fridge. Most of the front covers of the shelves in the door have all snapped off too, we currently have them all duct taped to the shelf. 2 drawers have snapped their rails too so basically sit on top of eachother. Also to top it off, our water dispenser jusr randomly dispenses water now. So far its been about 10 or so times while we have been home and have managed to stop it and it has covered our floor in water. We need to now work out how to turn the whole water function off so it doesnt happen while we are out and floor our house and damage everything else. So now we have a fridge we have no water or ice from - which is the main reason for our purchase as it is what we wanted!!! Pretty disappointed given how much we paid for it. Will certainly not buy another samsung nor would i recommend one. As a young one income family, we dont have the luxury of being in the position to go and buy a new one at the moment. We thought we were spending decent money on this one when they are just a lemon.

Very disappointing – Fridge looked great originally - however within a few months rust started to appear under water/ice dispenser and got rapidly worse. Samsung replaced the door and the new door is even worse then the first. Samsung don't want to know about the problem anymore. The fridge is also causing water damage to our kitchen skirting as it as begun to leak intermittently. Will sadly never purchase a Samsung fridge again. Show details

Door rusted out under ice dispenser - very disappointing – Fridge operation is sort of OK apart from the design of the crisper doors is flawed in that they don't open far enough to get anything the size of even a half-cauliflower in there easily. Also in the last 18 months years the ice maker would periodically stop working for weeks at a time and suddenly start working again. The main problem though is the ugly rusting under the ice dispenser. Show details

Very disappointed – The positives: This fridge does the fundamental thing well. It keeps temperature well, and has excellent pull-down capability (the ability to get back to temperature after a load of stuff has been stored. It is also quiet in operation, except for the ice-maker, which is quite noisy. The should-have-known-betters: The shelves on both the fridge… Read more

and freezer doors obstruct the opening of the drawers in both compartments. Even when unobstructed, these only open a small distance, making it difficult or impossible to get some things in. A full head of lettuce in the vegie drawer? Forget it! Basically, poor ergonomics throughout.

The negatives: All the plastic in this fridge is flimsy. Really flimsy. Not fit for purpose flimsy. Over the 3.5 years we have owned this fridge, there has been a continual stream of broken plastic fittings. First, the butter compartment lid was shattered (very readily) when the fridge door was closed (gently) while it was still open. Easy to do, but you would expect something tough enough to stand up to a basic mistake. Then progressively, several of the clear shelf fronts simply broke off in ordinary use. Fortunately, the shelves are still usable without the clear fronts, but...

Most recently, there have been two more serious issues. First, the door shelf that we use the most has simply cracked and will soon fail completely. This is under no more load than you would expect - holding a few drink bottles. As well, the plastic stem that holds the ice dispenser flap shut broke off, with the result that the flap hangs open, and the whole ice-maker freezes up with pretty dramatic results. While doing so, it also releases a constant trickle of water that runs down the fridge door.

Our previous fridge (not a Samsung) was a two door with ice-maker and water dispenser, and it lasted for more than 20 years. The Samsung is seriously broken in normal use in just 3.5 years. We have to get it repaired of course, but all we can look forward to is about three more years before it all happens again. Very disappointed.

Worst Fridge Ever And Very Poor Quality – All my shelving started to crack and break not long after purchase. The plastic is flimsy and brittle, nearly all of shelving on door and inside of fridge has cracked or broke. Samsung you need to do proper quality and safety checks on your products. The vegetable compartment door frames are impossible to clean as it gets inside frame. The glass frosts up and never seems clear.

Samsung refrigeration products need better engineering – I have owned this fridge now for 2+ years. In that time it has kept things I have stored in it cool and frozen. temperature display not fully displaying numbers (digital number bars missing, different brightness between bars etc.) For those of you considering buying this model as a second hand one give it some serious thought and unless it was an absolute bargain (e.g., free) then I would look for something else. In addition to the poor quality materials used to encase the guts of the machine one of the biggest design issues I have is the ability to get things in and out of the crisper drawers in the fridge. They just don't open wide enough in to get whole cauliflowers, iceberg lettuces etc in and out. This is something they could really improve on in future models

shelves. Fold back shelf useful, though of course reduces storage - good to have the choice. Nothing really wrong. Improvements would be the ability to control the temperature on the water, ie we prefer really chilled water than cool. Limited ability to move shelves around (Westinghouse for eample does this well). Having said that we are happy with the shelf layout. The fridge drawers are annoying in that they only half slide out. This makes putting shopping away more difficult. Drawers in other fridges have come out further.
