OUR MACHINE EXPLODED, Samsung doesn’t care – Same as other people here. Huge BANG and then white smoke filled out apartment. Clothes are ruined and smell like toxic chemicals We informed Samsung and received an aggressive call from a woman. Completely unapologetic, told us it’s our fault for overloaded it, told us we need to pay around $600 for a repair. All I care about is the small amount… Read more

NEVER BUY SAMSUNG. They are dangerous, they breach the Australian Consumer Law, and they couldn’t care less about your safety or satisfaction with the product. I’m telling everyone I know.

Same problem as everybody else, loose drum and error msg. Premature failure – Same problem as everybody else, loose drum banging around and an error msg. Clearly designed to fail after a few years. A shame because prior to the failure we liked it. We thought it was a brand that would last. Good old design obsolescence... Show details

just goes on and on! – This is a review of the discontinued model. but as ours goes on and on, it deserves a write up ... and a medal! Purchased in 2008 to replace a 1990 Asko. Prior to this we never understood the big advantage of a washer with a large drum and a very large door, which makes it easier to load and adds to the wash process, also the effect of spin… Read more ·  1

drying. It is tempting to put too much in, that is the one thing not to do. It may object to a large load for the spin cycle and you may then need to drain and halve the load before proceeding.

If you add coins or tissues they for the most part are deposited nicely on the rubber seal at the door. At some time, somehow, a gold coin donation has found its way down into the outlet system. Now if we overload the machine, or we use a cycle which involves a high water level, this coin stands on its side and blocks the drainage, so we have to do a manual drain out of the front, which is a bit messy but a reminder to avoid overloading and certain cycles (notably the dark garment cycle, which involves a high water level. We have not, in any case, encountered fluff problems with the 'daily wash' cycle.

Lots of different cycles. The wool garment cycle and hand wash achieve are gentle and achieve what they claim to do.

We use a fraction of a scoop of detergent and we avoid the high brightening detergents to avoid allergic reactions. Unless we have very greasy items (obviously needing more detergent) a very small amount of detergent is needed.

It may now be commonplace (we wouldn't know because we haven't bought a washing machine for nine years) but the ability to delay the wash is excellent. Either so you can set the machine up at night with a load, to be done in the morning, or to do the load when the sun is on the solar panels.

Great washing machine and very reliable – This is an awesome washing machine. We have had it for 5 years and it's never missed a beat. Clothes always come out clean and undamaged. The spin cycle can get a little noisy but think that is common with all washing machines really. Having two small children, we are constantly using this washing machine so we can safely say that it's passed a busy family stress test. I can highly recommend this washing machine.  Show details

Has worked hard and good value for money – Had it for over 7 years and done well over 4000 washes. For an 8KG machine at less than $700 when I purchased this is at the cheap end of units. Good solid programs and just gets on with the job. Has worked well until last week when pump has started to misbehave. New pump from Samsung only $55, but seems a devil of a job to replace it. Will definitely buy another if pump too hard to replace.  Show details

Samsung Will Never Stand By Their Faulty Products – The machine I reported on some time ago was known to have significant design and performance faults to the extent that these could be considered a danger to consumers. No matter how hard one tries to seek a resolution with Samsung, The representatives will refuse what I consider to be statutory warranty obligations. Many Samsung washing machines… Read more

A Design to Fail Machine – I only used the machine not more than twice a week. The machine broke down due to the collapse of the spider mount. Like all the Samsung front loaders, they are not designed to last. The culprit is the drum supporting spider mount. It is made of aluminium which is sensitive to Alkaline corrosion. And the spider mount design doesn't help either as… Read more

the shape is prone to trap washing power.

The parts for fixing are not cheap but the main obstacle is the labor, you have to put he whole machine apart to get down to the spider mount, very labor intensive. I did not realize this until I have done it once, not worth of the effort.

The reason I gave 2 star is the machine is actually lasting longer than my previous LG which is an improvement.

Won't buy a LG again, nor the Samsung.

Do not buy Samsung washing machine – We bought this Samsung washing machine in 2009 and only used it for the last 5 years as we kept it as a spare just in case the old Simpson broke down, in fact it's last us that long before we use the new one (Samsung). A thick smoke came out when I open the front loader door. The whole cycle went until it's finished without stopping as a sign… Read more

that there's something is wrong with the machine. It could catch fire and burn down the whole house if we were not home at the time. The contractor came (Sydney Appliance) and suggested that there was nothing wrong and continue using it. The next time we use it, there was a very loud noise coming out as if the whole thing will explode and then it's spitting out plastic debris from the drainage. Again, the whole cycle went without stopping. There was NO safety mechanism whatsoever. Samsung does NOT have product and customer care. I report and tried to follow up many times, yet, they keeps on denying their responsibility. I have lodged a complaint to ACCC and hopefully something will be done towards Samsung, as the product that they sold is not a safe product as there is NO safety mechanism.

Just DO NOT BUY Samsung product especially washing machine.

Faulty Part, Designed to Break – The machine became unusable due to a faulty spider arm as mentioned by many others here. I hate to rate this machine so low because it worked fantastically for us until one day it was violently shaking and banging. We used it approximately once per week for general clothes. Based on suspicions raised by other reviews, I took apart the machine to… Read more

discover the spider mount arm had corroded to the point of crumbling and letting the drum bang around, potentially causing other damage.

Samsung's support offered no help due to being out of warranty other than giving the details for some fairly expensive technicians.

I am currently ordering a replacement part in the hopes to give this machine a bit more life as buying a whole new machine is no small expense for us. Unfortunately it is extremeley time intensive to take the machine apart, and I assume put back together again.

Whether this replacement part works or not, I will not buy another washer from Samsung until it's clear that they are not using parts designed to fail after a few years.

Broken spider due to Samsung design fault – Broken spider due to Samsung design fault. Do not buy Samsung washing machines they all have faults. Finally a resolution and compensation – Like many of the other reviews here, my spider broke. I contacted Samsung regarding the problem and after not receiving a satisfactory resolution to my problem, I decided that I would take Samsung to NCAT (the NSW equivalent of VCAT) to seek compensation. Samsung missed the first hearing and some months later, the second hearing was scheduled. A… Read more

representative of Samsung attended and after some discussion in separate rooms, a resolution was reached whereby I received compensation for the breakdown of the machine. My detailed submission to NCAT consisted of photos, quotes from this website, some youtube videos showing the problem, and articles about galvanic corrosion. I made it clear that there was a design issue and that this design problem could have been minimised/prevented for a very low cost by Samsung. I recommend to all owners of front loading Samsung models that have a spider galvanic corrosion issue to raise the issue with their respective consumer affairs tribunal so that Samsung is made to pay compensation for the issues related to a broken spider. Under the Australian Consumer Law, and the previous Trade Practices Act, the product purchased had to be fit for purpose and have no latent defects. Clearly, Samsung as well as other manufacturers have failed miserably in the manufacturing process. Don't be too concerned about the age of your machine as your expectation should be that a washing machine should last about 10 years or more.

Loose drum, loud knocking noises – I'm unable to use it now. It appears the front of the drum is not being supported. It knocks wildly when on spin, or for that matter even turning it over by hand. Not quite sure what to do about it, but tend to think not to spend half the cost of a new machine on a 6 year old that I will not trust. Any thoughts appreciated.  Show details

Rubbish – This washing machine is 5 years old and not spinning properly. It makes a terrible noise and there is smoke. I think it could catch fire. Before it broke it did wash well, I'll give it that but a washing machine should last longer than 5 years. I won't be buying Samsung again.

Absolutely the best machine for me ! – Absolutely the best machine for me ! When I bought this I had my brother, hes partner and her kids, one of whom was a bed wetter so i needed something that could handle a large(ish) load esp sheets and/blankets. This machine never let me down. Now it is jusy me but i can wash my (double) blankets and anything else i need to. My only complaint would be that since i have mounted it on a " pedestal" it does tend to travel acroos the floor a bit.

VERY DANGEROUS MACHINE. No way to force door open in emergency. Do not buy if you have children – I bought it 5 years ago. I have had constant mould problems and have been treating it with vinegar and bicarb (as recommended by Samsung) including regular empty cycles to clean it out and scrubbing it out myself as much as possible. Over the last 5 months it's become noisy and cycles are lasting much longer than the estimated time. Of MAJOR… Read more

concern to a mother with young children (Boisterous boys who hide and play pranks), is the fact that the door constantly locks during a cycle as it's supposed to but then the door REFUSES to open after the cycle. More frustrating is closing the door, then trying to open it to put extra items in BEFORE starting the cycle and not being able to open the door.

I recently contacted Samsung about the fact there is no emergency door unlock pull cable on the machine in case of an emergency. I can't even unscrew the machine to get inside it to force the door open. This is seriously DANGEROUS. I recently had a scare where I needed to open the door urgently and the only thing I could do was turn the machine off, and call a repairer for emergency help. HELLO this was an emergency. UTTERLY DANGEROUS MACHINE. Should have been recalled. So broken door + dangerous machine = Rubbish tip

If I had known there was no emergency door opening cable it would NEVER have been bought.

Absolute rubbish. Major fault at 5 years. Buy a decent machine – Major fault on the dot of 5 years. As everyone has said it has a common fault. A broken spider arm common to this model. A major fault costing around $500. Samsung customer service told me to complain to the CEO and they would do nothing. Avoid Samsung like the plague. Shocking reliability, shocking customer service. Spend a bit extra for a decent machine. It WILL break inside 5 years.

Spider arm designed to break – Same as everyone else, the spider arm broke after about 4 years use, often error codes during use too. Look for an alternative machine because its not going to last you the amount of time you expect, i would accept at least a 10 year life cycle on a washing machine.

Great machine – Hi, I can't sing the praises of this machine enough. I have four kids and use it several times a day. It never misses a beat and I bought it 5 years ago. Would definitely recommend it to other people, since the clothes come out super clean. I guess the only drawback maybe the price. I paid $1,100. But if I get a few more years out of it then I think it is well worth it.

Great machine - terrible longevity – Same as other users, machine gets to four years and will no longer spin because the spider arm breaks. 3 years to the day and $1199 paid is not good value – Purchased the washing machine when renovating, installed and 3 years almost to the day the spider broke, after waiting 5 weeks for replacement parts. Great, except for longevity – All going well for about 3 years, then suddenly the spider breaks and the drum is rattling all over the place. the machine worked, it was good. The spin was great and relatively quiet, but 30 months is a pathetic lifespan for a washing machine. Samsung should not be allowed to sell this trash. If the arm corrodes because of liquid washing detergent, it is an inferior product and poorly designed. Use the right materials to build it.

I will take this to Fair Trading and see what they can do. I don't expect my money back, but I would like to see these shonky manufacturers lift their standards and not use inadequate ,material and poor design.

I won't buy anything Samsung again. I just don't know what is in the product. I have emailed them and no reply.
