Terrible and tries to burn your house while you sleep – I say "haunted" because if you didn't know better you'd swear it was. Ever since I moved in that oven has been a nightmare and it was brand new then! I've had two oven elements actually explode. Not burn out, actually explode and spray pieces of element around inside. The hotplate controls? Don't bother, it just sets the heat to whatever it feels… Read more
like on the day. Trying to simmer a soup? Nah, you might randomly get charcoal. As for the oven, when it isn't trying to burn your alive by randomly turning onto full in the middle of the night, it see ms to want to convert your roast into glowing embers. The bottom is always black while the top and middle if raw and bleeding - though at least placing the grill tray in the bottom rack eased that by deflecting the excess heat away from the bottom of the baking trays. Honestly, I'd rather go buy a cheap toaster oven and send the whole stove to the recycling. With luck the land lord will get sick of buying parts and the constant complaints, but I doubt it - they don't care as long as the rent is paid
Nothing special – I purchased this stove a few months ago and regret the purchase. It was cheap so you get what you pay for. Cooking times for all functions are generally slow to heat up and cook food. I find myself spending more time than i should behind a stove waiting for dinner to fully cook. The oven isn't great either it heats up okay, but the heat coil is… Read more
exposed and based at the bottom of the oven so if you place your food too close to the coil, it burns the food base and unevenly cooks, resulting in the base of the food cooking first and almost burning before th top of the food is cooked. I don't recommend this as a stove to purchase
Didn't know this model was so bad.... I love it! – I love this cooker. My Westinghouse wall oven was the pits and I had forgotten how an oven should actually work. The Simpson is soooo good. I don't seem to have the problems the over reviewers have had so I glad about that. I know this Simpson model is not the most modern but it was in the house when I bought and I really don't want to lose the stove LOL. Best cakes, roasts, etc. Just can't find a user manual anywhere. Terrible – Don't get one. I am so glad a site like this exists. I am now researching the next stove to buy so I don't get another dud. It was cheap I have had a problem with the hotplates and temperature control. Had a repairer come out while it was still under warranty and he said it was a problem with this model and it would happen again. It has happened… Read more
again and it is no longer under warranty so am buying a new stove. Goods should last longer. Very disappointed. The oven can't cook cakes as it burns the bottom unless you put a dish of water in the bottom of the oven :P
Terrible – I was extremely disappointed to find out from the technician that the Oven would be 4 years old in March 2010, and the oven has not worked properly since I moved into my hous. The oven at this time would have been 1 1/2 years old. This is disgraceful. Nothing good to report. Upon moving in 2 1/2 years ago the larger hotplate of the oven only… Read more
works on maximum heat, and 6 months a second hotplate now only worked on maximum heat. My oven just stopped working last week. The oven will be 4 years old in March 2010.
Bad – Could do better. Oven door glass should not shatter. The internal space is disappointing for the dedicated cook. More space needed between shelves for rising cakes and for baking items that are above the flange of the dish. Fairly easy to clean and use Not enough space between the oven shelves for rising cakes at times and if I took the griller… Read more
out the temperature was wrong. The front external glass of the oven door has just shattered during use after four and a bit years. I have never experience such an event with any other oven and I am 62 and have been baking since I was 4.
