Excellent machine came with house 11 years ago – Been using this machine for over 10 years and came with house I brought, can't fault the machine, sorry to all the critics. Unscrew the centre screw where agitator is to clean drain once in a while, it may be a bit tight to loosen. Easy machine to use, so straight forward, will fail sooner or later, can't last forever. Went looking for another… Read more

one as backup but decided to go for a 14kg one for my big curtains.

Machine came with house in 2011, still working perfectly.

Who made this – Disappointed is an understatement!! Constantly gets stuck on rinse cycle. And continually unbalanced. For anyone else with this problem keep restarting the machine I have found that not enough water is draining and by restarting the machine continuously eventually it will sort it self. It would be great to have a start and forget machine not one… Read more

that needs constant intervention to make it work. Just wondering how long Simpson have been making machines and now can’t get basics rigidity.

Useless!!!! Don't Buy – I purchased a Simpson Eziset 5.5 kg Washing Machine a couple of weeks ago..Most times it won't work.. EG put load in machine, it automatically selects full water level, can't change level to low or medium etc, can't change from warm to cold etc, and it won't start. When I am lucky enough to get it to start, it will go for a few mins, so i go away,… Read more

come back in an hour etc, thinking washing must be done, but it is alternately flashing between mins - eg 50 and SP.. Can't do anything.. If i am lucky I can, after a while put it on drain and spin and it will drain, then if i am lucky i can get it to work with rinse and spin cycle. It also leaks at the back. I have spent a useless amount of money and time on a mobile call to Simpson, where I was I given the run around and treated like I am a half wit.. Must be "misoperation" so she says - overloading etc - can't be overloaded, only put a few things in it, I don't jam pack things into it.. Apparently "SP" means pause - as if I put press start and it is agitating and i somehow pause it from another room - I don't think so!! Was told she could arrange for a technician to come out and if it is so called misoperation I would have to pay.. As far as I am concerned, I shouldn't have to pay a cent for getting a new washing to work correctly. When a product is purchased it should work especially when it is new!!! I highly recommend people do not purchase this brand of washing machine - it should be taken off the market. I have a very expensive ornament sitting in my laundry, and I am not happy!!!

BAD – Purchased this machine in 2012. Not a problem till now. The motherboard needed to be replaced. $300.00 for this to be done, I almost could have purchased another machine for that. VERY disappointed because Simpson Australia used to make good machines and now they DONT. Im not rich by any means and I know the warranty was only two years but… Read more

for a 4 year old machine to have this problem???? NOT GOOD ENOUGH. My old Hoover machine lasted 20 years before breaking down. NEVER BUYING SIMPSON AGAIN.

useless item – having had a simpson espirit for 15 yrs...bought a esyset550....its hopeless..overflows when water setting set to low..only half empties then tries to spin when its half full of water and overheats and trips the power safety switch on the house designed to cost the most power to run..starts the wash cycle then washes for 2 mins then adds no more… Read more

than 1/2 a coke can full of water before continuing...has a bad design fault that when it overflows the water is trapped in the bottom and eventually rusts out the leg supports

would love to meet the designer and put the machine somewhere and turn it on continual spin cycle...will never purchase another simpson as long as i live..were really good when made in australia..now made overseas and quality of the product has severly reduced

Fantastic washing machine – I have owned this washing machine for the past 6 years, and it has performed perfectly, and it has done some heavy duty washing, it has never let me down and always cleaned my clothes great, its very simple to use and the controls are easy to understand 10/10 great machine.

Very pleased – I bought this 2nd hand about 5 years ago. It was relatively new at the time. Apart from it being too small for my growing family, it has performed excellently. I wash from delicate (put extra delicates in zip bags) to very dirty work clothes. Work clothes come out ok but I could soak them first to get all stains out. I load up the tub with plenty… Read more ·  1

of work clothes too.

Not too loud.

I start and pause all the time with no problem.

No holes in clothes. Beeps every 2 mins or so, which is annoying but handy to remind me to hang out.

The water sensor has just started to malfunction so it will overfill and overflow so have to keep an eye on it an drain some out to continue.

Overall, I've been very pleased with this machine.

Lemon – I had a Simpson wm for nearly 10 yrs and many children. When it died I had a limited choice between this and Fisher paykel as I live in a small town and went with what I thought I could trust. I actually bought 2, another for a friend who couldn't get there. Doesn't clean very well, getting more sluggish to start every load. Such limited options. Not nearly enough room here to explain. Totally disgusted with its performance. Do not purchase

Keeps tearing clothes and bed linen – I've had this machine for just under three years and I'm not very happy with it as it keeps putting holes in my clothes and sheets. I thought it was the age of the linen but have since bought two new sets only to have the same thing happen. Not impressed at all.

Meh – Had this machine for 6 years, the pump finally gave up so we've bought a new (different make) machine. So, the good points. Actually lasted 6 years. Which given the reviews seems like an extremely long time for this machine! Good size for a single person or couple. Aaaaand that's it for the good points. We had to swap to using liquid detergent… Read more

because it would never dissolve powder properly. It would overbalance CONSTANTLY and require that drag out half of the load to re-balance. It was noisy as all get out which is extremely annoying when you have a baby sleeping.

All in all for the price we paid ($380 for a floor model) when we had little to no spare cash lying around, the life of this machine has been astounding. It's survived two babies and their related messes and has only just given up the ghost.

But the quality of the wash? Meh.

AVOID!! This machine shouldn't even be on the market!!! – Leaves residue all over clothing, clothing doesn't feel or smell washed, even when using the top of the range washing powder. Machine just shut down mid cycle and we had to carry it outside full of water to empty it!!! We now have no washing machine and are $500 poorer. I am at a loss as to how such a terrible product can even be sold. Avoid Simpson!!

Disappointed – I took an extended three year warranty out on this machine, 6 months out of the warranty & my machine suddenly doesn't work. It has worked well until there was suddenly no power. I don't know whether to try & fix it or if I should buy a new one... Seeing these reviews, I'm not sure if I should try to fix it.. Stopped working suddenly.

Pretty disgusted!! – I am getting on in years now and have to watch every penny. I bought this model in November 2010 and was assured that it would last for many years. Well, it is 5 months out of my 3 year warranty, and has just stopped working. I have only ever done 2 loads (if that) each week, so I would say that this washing machine is of very poor quality. That… Read more

is about 200 washes only. Surely a washing machine should last for longer than this. My original understanding was that Simpson was a totally reliable brand......I don't think so!! I am bitterly disappointed as I cannot afford to have it fixed. Maybe I should go back to hand washing and buy a wringer!! I liked it while it was working!

So bitterly disappointed with product and service – Bought the EziSet550 washing machine just over 3 years ago, took out an extended warranty, and am so glad we did. We are now experiencing our 5th (from memory) exact same fault with the power board. This causes the machine to not be able to be switched on. Was fixed once under manufactures warranty and will now be 4 fixes under extended warranty!… Read more

Whilst the extended warranty has never let us down it does however come with the usual 3 week wait for the parts to arrive to fix the unit. Not easy to go 3 weeks without a washing machine, when we have a 2 year old toddler and i come home filthy every day from a manual labour job!

After the 4th failure we contacted Simpson and despite their polite manner, we were essentially told that it was not their problem and to take it up with the extended warranty company. Whilst I understand that the manufacturers warranty has now elapsed, I have to say I am extremely disappointed that considering its the exact same fault that occurred under manufacturers warranty, Simpson don't feel the need to assist us further. We are extremely disappointed in Simpson and the obvious poor quality of the product, and will not be purchasing another Simpson product in future. I would also urge any prospective buyer of a Simpson washer to A) take out extended warranty - you're going to need it, and B) get real friendly with your next door neighbour - you'll be borrowing their washing machine often!! Worked excellent for the first year..... 5th time with same failure, lack of interest from Simpson, obvious inherent design fault

Didn't make it to 3yrs ! – Motor died almost 3 yrs to the day it was installed - very disappointed & not a machine that had a lot of use. Cost of repairs more than replacement. Machine was also slow to complete loads. Simple controls but, not much use when the motor isn't working - will try another brand next time.

Reasonably good washing machine – I purchased mine 2 1/2 yrs ago, and have no problems with it. Yes it is a little noisy sometimes, but i suspect that's because it is sitting unbalanced. At least you know it's alive and working/washing like it should be, rather than being deadly silent. Glad I purchased this machine!! Good size for single person, washes effectively Can't really… Read more

Burnt my house down !! – I purchased new 3 years ago, it went ok as machines go, but never really removed pet hair from my clothes, the lint sock thing is hopelessly small, and secured by very flimsy clips that came loose all the time requiring a delicate "fishing operation" to retrieve it.also it doesnt switch off when a wash is complete, instead beeps incessantly every… Read more

A Happy little vegemite! – Machine does what it is supposed to and that is wash clothes, the controls are fool proof and I would even go as far to say very male friendly. Though the only improvement would be for it to hang the clothes out itself! It also has a small footprint and can easily fit into the small laundries that seem to be the trend of modern architecture. "Compact" "Easy to operate"

This is a great little washing machine and I am really happy with it – The Simpson Washing Machine is a great product that is water and energy efficient and does a great job. My first Simpson Washing Machine lasted me for 18 years so I know they are a great machine. Reliable, inexpensive and energy efficient

Poor quality – This machine just broke down after only 1.5 years and after having already had a warranty repair a couple of months after buying! In addition it never did wash clothes properly... The price of the repair basically equals the oen of a brand new machine (electronic controller failed...) Definitely not recommended! unreliable, doesn't wash properly

What a Lemon!! – Bought early 2008 and had 4 repairs done under warranty (2 were because the lid locked and wouldn't open to get the clothes out, 1 was because the lid wouldn't lock and another because it just kept beeping as if off balance even after clothes were removed). Also, the service was crap. The guy would call at my gate, even though i requested a call… Read more

Terrible – This washing machine is one of the worst purchases I have ever made..it is an absolute piece of rubbish and I for one will never buy a Simpson washing machine again. VERY disappointed...Would NOT recommend this product to anyone...don`t waste your money Easy to use Cheap plastic parts that do not stand the test of time. Started getting problems with it 6 months in. The water level button crumbled and broke off. Sounded like it was going to blow up on the spin cycle. Sometimes doesn`t even wash the clothes properly and leaves stains on our clothes. Terrible customer service. Communication from Simpson is nil. Had to keep chasing up. Took 2 and a half months for them to finally send the parts, and then they had only sent a new button, THAT was the "parts" they had ordered to fix all the problems!!!
