Reliability at low cost – Bought this unit at the beginning of 2013 after moving to Australia from Canada. When I got it the salesman said it will only last 2 years. It's almost 8 years now and I haven't had a single issue. Very sturdy little machine. Show details
No complaints here – It was my first washing machine I ever purchased 8yrs ago when I moved out of home. I've had no issues whatsoever with it. Very reliable, the functions are easy to use and seems to do a good job for the price I paid. Show details
A nightmare – I moved in into an apartment that has one of those and it's absolutely rubbish, the machine understand nothing once you start a program you will need navy seals to get your clothes back if you chose a wrong program, the off button is crap it will turn off the machine but it wont unlock the door, the machine in general is very slow, loud and it will test your patience. You might as well wash your clothes in the sink. Show details
Sturdy and reliable – I've had my washing machine for 6 years and it's never failed me, touch wood. It has no hi-tech or fancy features or digital display, but I do a lot of washing (sometimes twice or three times a day) and have so far had no problems. It's easy to use, has no complicated settings, and does the job. Can't complain. Show details
Slow and noisy and not easy to repair – Like other reviews, lasted just over 5 and a half years before the bearing (very noisily) gave out and was deemed un-repairable by Electrolux. Remember the days when things were built to last and could be fixed? Was incredibly slow to wash and louder than a jet engine when it spun but it deserved a better end than this. RIP. Show details
Complaint: Serious Mould Issue – I am writing in regards to our washing machine, Simpson Model: SWF85561 and an issue we have had with a terrible smell coming from the machine. Every time I open the machine, I am hit with this overpowering smell of mould. Our clothes have a mouldy smell despite hanging out the clothes straight away after the washing machine has finished it's… Read more
cycle. I decided to investigate further - even though the machine and the seal appear clean when I peeled back the seal I was disgusted by the black mould growing underneath so deep in the holes that it is impossible to clean. This is a major flaw in the design. They can't possibly design a washing machine that cannot be properly cleaned and that breeds dangerous mould. I emailed customer service as recommended and two weeks on still no reply. Pretty poor customer service.
too slow – hi this model of Simpson is too slow take long time to clean the cloths and also have to use liquid detergent instead of normal powder detergent also let me know if I can do anything to correct this error or is problem with this model this is my second Simpson machine first is good but this is worst I don't prefer to buy third Simpson bcoz of this one Show details
So disappointed!!! – I bought this machine 4 years ago and the bearings were broken yesterday (was not spun and sounded noisy), it would cost me $600 to replace which I definitely won't pay for (as the original price draftly $550) though I paid $145 for the mechanics to come to check. I didn't expect a washing machine will have that short lifetime as my parent bought one from Japanese brand and is still running well after 10 years :(
Breaks just out of warranty – Simpson SWF85561 washing machine used at a rental property won't finish the cycle. It cost me $245 to be told by an appliance professional that a new motherboard will cost $350 to fit. It broke 3 months after the two year warranty expired. So I would call this a dud model and will do more research before buying a replacement.

The "finished" cycle isn't finished at all! – This machine begins its cycle, then after about 10 mins stops, flashes its "door locked" light and does nothing. I can only get my clothes (soaking in putrid water) if I switch the machine completely off and wait another 3 minutes to open the door but the clothes are still dirty! I can't deal.

Takes forever – Wash cycle is too quick and the rest of the time the machine, pumps, drains, spins and takes 1 hr even on fast wash. don't buy this brand takes forever, so annoying it unbalances with towels and I can only do two standard sizes towels at a time, bad news
Rediculous Machine – My family purchased this machine as an engagement present for us two years ago, I don't think i've ever used a washing machine that is this bad, even when living in Africa with limited water. First things first, why would you manufacture an energy efficient washing machine that only has one cold water cycle that is for delicate clothes!! We have… Read more
a three year old and this "delicate" cycle does not clean her clothing, nor does it clean my husbands work clothing! When using washing powder it leaves powder marks all over the clothing, so we changed to a liquid, this did alleviate the problem but hasn't helped at all with giving us clean clothes.
We have now started washing with a warm cycle, but this has now started to ruin our clothes, especially those that have motives on them. The wash cycle also takes forever, and recently has decided not to wash clothes at all, half come out wet and the other half dry. It's a joke of a washing machine and I will never be purchasing simpson (or eletrolux now it's changed) again. Unfortunately we have to deal with this machine as we are not in a financial position to purchase something new, so for now we will have to continue to do a lot of hand washing prior to putting them in the machine. So very disappointed!!!

Performed Well Until Today – Purchased our machine 23/4/11 from the Good Guys. Used daily for multiple loads with no issues until it died today. No power. Not bad for a budget machine. We purchased an extended Horizon Warranty when we purchased it so will see if they will arrange a repair. Meanwhile it's off to the Laundromat this weekend. Show reply
Same as the person below, just out of warranty and it breaks – it was a pretty cheap machine, But i do expect to get more than 2 years out of it! The last 2 years have been a 4 overall it does take a while, but i just put it on a 6 hour delay and go to bed and its ready when i wake up so not usually an issue. My problem now is its totally stuffed conveniently just out of warranty. It started with the door… Read more
not unlocking after washing the clothes. i got It release by turning the power off at the mains which was ok, but now it doesn't even finish the cycle and the clothes are stuck in a machine full of dirty water! arh!

Not happy. Stopped working 4 months out of warranty – Not happy with this machine after failing just 4 months after the standard 2 year warranty. It was a good machine I had thought until it suddenly stopped today during mid wash. It had completely turned off on me and despite unplugging and turning off at the wall to try and see if it was an electrical trip, it was not. Simply the machine will not… Read more
turn on. Simpson washing machines will be the last brand I lay an eye on in choosing another washing machine.

Chews clothes and no no power to machine? – Just stopped - no power to machine - is it the power board in the machine? Wont turn on. Simpson does not let you tell them the problem, only a selection list. So now I just throw away a 5 year old machine because there are no service centres in Darwin and the Simpson website can not actually answer a question directly.
Really poorly designed piece of junk – We have had our machine for 10 months. We've had the techs out four times to look at it, they have replaced parts but still it is a piece of junk. It spins for literally an hour, if not more. It stops, it pauses for an hour and it spins again and so it goes. Rang Simpson and they tell me this is normal, that this machine is meant to take 2.5 hours… Read more
to go through it's cycle. What a load of rubbish. I'm gonna either flog it off on ebay or chuck it out. It really is a frustrating piece of junk that is costing me huge power and water bills. I'm going to buy a bosch!!!

good for a cheap washing machine – we had our first machine for only 6 months before it started mysteriously leaking.... had to be replaced but was under warranty so all good. over all i have been happy with the machine, u get what u pay for and we only paid just under $500. it was cheap, its got a good energy rating because it uses cold water from the tap and heats it in the… Read more
machine. it has a fast wash option the first one broke with in 6 months. it is noisy. found it makes a few holes in clothes so now i wash on the synthetic cycle for all my clothes.
Good for the price – We've owned this for 18 months. It was actually a replacement for a Simpson top loader machine that had a few propblems. It has never missed a beat. We found we need to only use half of the recommended level of powder and it washes the clothes very well. Over time the spin cycle has become a bit noisy, but not anything that gives us any bother. Simple to use. Washes the clothes well. Spin is a little noisy.
Terrible – I could not recommend this machine owing to the fact that a normal cycle takes more than 2 hours to complete. Cheap price, washes clothes. It is expected to perform those tasks and it does. The spin cycle is insanely noisy on the high setting rendering it virtually unusable, especially considering it goes on and on and on and on.... But the part… Read more
that seems to kill this product is a normal cycle takes more than 2 hours to complete. It just seems too long for a washing machine.
All front loaders have long cycles. Do some research before you buy. This is a stupid reason for giving a product 1 star.
