Still great after 5 years! – I've had my Simpson washing machine for 5 years now and it still works as well as the day I bought it. It's easy to use and has lots of different washing settings. It can be quite noisy though and I do end up with lint on my clothes sometimes (especially dark coloured clothes), despite cleaning the filter after every load. Otherwise it serves it's purpose perfectly fine!  Show details

Another "Motherboad" Failure - Disappointing response – This machine did a reasonable job (like any other washing machine) for about four and a half years. A few days ago, when the machine wasn't being used, the printed circuit board which incorporates the main switch failed. People refer to it as the motherboard. The symptoms are a completely dead machine when you switch on with no lights showing.… Read more

Research on the net shows that this part is prone to failure, sometimes sooner than happened to mine. Postings suggested that the manufacturers were aware of the problem, so I felt entitled to ask them for a replacement part. They refused. I bought the part PNC 913041059 online for less than the manufactures asked and the machine is working again. The part will take an electrical worker about five minutes to replace. If this problem had not occurred, or if it had been quickly resoved, I would otherwise have given the product 3 or 4 stars.

Simpson SWT604 – I've owned the Simpson swt604 for just over 10 years tonight the main board blew a cap and what i think is a voltage regulator as I don't have any 5volt control at those pins. Hot wired it to finish the wash really dry and clean inside the control panel. 10 years is good enough for me not paying $160 for the replacement part as the machine is going to fail soon bought a new one online for an extra $439 free delivery and they take old homer away Show details

Old Washing Machines Last Longer – There's nothing I hate more than having to complain about a product. I really do prefer to complete positive feedbacks but I am really not left with any other choice here. Like many other feedbacks on here my Simpson SWT604 was purchased about 2 and half years ago and on the weekend at the beginning of a wash it just stopped. I turned it off… Read more

and on again for it to turn itself off.

As this machine was not that old (plus I had my last one for over 10 years), I thought I would email you to get some advice on what may be causing this problem. Instead I get a response that I need to call to book a service that will cost me $145 flat rate and any parts costs.

It sounds to me like I would be much better off buying a new machine and not a Simpson. A washing machine should last for longer than 2 and half years, without adding repair costs to it.

Plus all I was asking for in the email was a little advice as to what the issue maybe, to see whether it was a better option - cost wise - to buy a new machine or repair this one.

No trouble in four and a half years – I bought this Simpson in 2009 to replace another Simpson which lasted twelve years and I only replaced that because my Ma thought it was looking shabby. The design is similar apart from electronic push buttons and LED display but the mechanical parts are the same easily accessible design which can be fixed by the home handyman if he's short of… Read more

cash. Haven't had to touch this one, and it spent its first three years washing dirty work clothes daily. It's "normal" cold water cycle is fine for ordinary washing but the drip dry cycle works well for wash and wear. I like the stainless steel bowl, strong material where it counts. No trouble with the plastic agitator or the plastic lid and control panel cowl. The way it beeps and beeps at the end of a cycle is annoying but at least it makes me go and hang out the washing.Don't understand the negative reviews here. Maybe only people with a gripe write reviews. I've been happy with mine. Only here because I've been pricing new one online for another house.

So far, so good – I vowed never to buy a Simpson washing machine ever again after 18 months with my previous one, the problematic Ezi Sensor SWT605SA. However, under the original warranty, Electrolux has changed over my machine and given me a brand new SWT604 and it's this machine I wish to review. At first glance, the control panel looks simple enough to… Read more ·  2

operate. There's a rotary knob to choose the wash cycle you wish to use, and there are many to choose from. Once you've made your selection, the other settings such as water level, temperature and type of rinse are set by default according to the choice you made on the rotary control and show up with a light beside each one. You can change those if you wish by touching the sensor button below each to reset the machine to your own personal choice. Once the machine starts washing, you can also change these settings but first you have to touch the "pause" button and hold for a couple of seconds then, once you've made your changes, retouch the "pause" button to resume. The buttons don't need to be pressed hard as a light touch operates them. There's also a digital countdown timer which is a handy feature.

The machine doesn't specify whether to use top loader or front loader detergent, but in the instruction manual it does say "good quality, front load detergent will perform well in this machine" - it doesn't say not to use a top loader powder or liquid. As this is a conventional type washing machine, I've used both types of detergent at different times to see how they performed. I first used front loader liquid having had lots left from my previous machine which specified front loader detergent only, and the wash came out perfect. I also had a box of top loader Surf powder which I tried when I next did a wash, dissolving it first in hot water before adding to the machine, and it also gave good results with no residue on dark clothing which was a major problem with the previous machine that was replaced.

There's a filter in the centre of the agitator which is easy to remove for cleaning and which I tend to clean after each wash.

Another choice you have which I haven't yet mentioned is the soak feature. This allows you to soak clothing at the beginning of the wash for 15, 30 or 45 minutes.

At the end of the wash cycle, the machine gives 4 beeps to let you know it's finished.

so far so good with this machine and a big thumbs up to Electrolux who replaced my 18 month old machine within a week of a technician arriving to assess the previous one. This has renewed my confidence in Simpson and I hope to have many years of trouble free washing with this machine.

Customer service was great – I have a Simpson SWT554, suddenly last Sunday it stopped full of water and no power, so I went on the forum to see if there was any advice to let me know what had happened, there was, I also noticed Electrolux people asking for consumers to contact them to see if they could help, so instead of venting on the Forum first (as machine had worked… Read more

Couldn't live without it!!! – I purchased this machine a year ago, as I had moved and didn't have a washing machine. My family have had Simpson machines for over 30 years. I was impressed with the free powder promotion, as its the brand I normally use. I have a 4 month old baby, so I would do on average 5-10+ loads a week. I love the handwash cycle, sooo easy and great results… Read more

on the delicate items like shawls. Most items come out of the machine, given a shake and onto the line or clothes-horse, no ironing needed. I tend to use half the recommended powder, and the clothes come out fresh and clean. People tend to use too much powder. It has only went out of balance twice in the year, my fault when loading. The hose dripped once, but I disconnected the hoses and cleaned the tap filter, has been perfect for months. I havent had any other issues with my machine and I would recommend it to others!!!!! Range of cycles, soak option, inexpensive, reliable

No Problems, Excellent Machine – I have not encountered the problems the other reviewers have with this machine. If the SWT604 instructions are followed then there shouldn't be any problems with the clothes wash. I have not encountered any undue noise; matter-of-fact my previous washing machine, a Samsung, was noisier.I don't have a lint issue nor does it leak. The Simpson… Read more

performs as it should and I am very happy with my purchase. Simpson washing machines were made in Australia many years ago but, unfortunately, they are made offshore now I did read the reviews of the SWT604 before buying but I bought anyway. I am sure there are many happy customers who never leave any feedback, hence my positive review. I have owned the SWT604 for about a month and if needed I will update this post. Simple to use, washes well.

Dont buy simpson zero star rating – I have never liked this machine, mine is slightly different model I could not find it here, since the day I turned it on, when a load is finished some items often have lint build ups left on them, the machine does not turn off when finished and will beep all day forever if not switched off it is noisy and it has had little use from when I… Read more

bought it as I worked away for a number of years and when I wanted to rinse only it was difficult to get on that setting and now impossible to change back to the wash setting I am not going to get it repaired as it will be more good money wasted on a bad product and I will never buy a Simpson product again and any one that does after reading this, serves your self right for the trouble you will have.

What a piece of junk.

Motherboard problem – Works ok it's 5 years old. I have replaced pump once lid 2 times filter 3 times and now motherboard has crashed all in all not what I would recommend to anyone. I bought Simpson washer and dryer 5 years ago because they are a brand that I trusted from Clewers in Clare South Australia prior to that I had Fisher & Paykel had them for 15 years and gave them to my Son and they are still going strong.  Show details

Motherboard dies after 4+ years – I purchased the Simpson EZI set simple wash 6kg about 4 years ago from Harvey Norman. I have had no issues with it except for today when it just stopped working. My SWT 604 washing machine died after less 3 years use – Simply stopped working less 3 years minimum use. A technician advised me that it is maybe the mother board. It seem so many other owners have the same problem. What will Electrolex/ Simpson will do about their bad product. They need to replace it or send me new motherboard , otherwise I am thinking to call Fair trading and maybe even refer them to checkout in ABC.  Show details

Poor quality – After four years the board on my machine is gone. Luckily I bought the extended warranty but my last Simpsons did 10-15 years with the first repair after about 8 or nine years. This is a very poor product that has demolished what once was a reliable brand. My next machine will be something else. I suggest buyers consider another brand if you want longevity.  Show details

Disappointing – I bought this machine two and a half years ago. At a little before two years, it stopped working. I had an extended warranty and it was repaired. Today it stopped again: again repairs. Rough with washing and stops mid-cycle constantly, particularly when washing towels. Our previous Simpsons were excellent.

Not as good as previous Simpson machines – I have always had Simpson washing machines & been very happy with them. today with no power getting to machine, thankfully not with a bowl of water like others on here. I did buy an extended warranty with this machine so am waiting on technician to call now but from the sounds of the reviews on here it's a major thing in the power board dying so we'll see if it's repairable.

So noisy!!! – The clothes come out with with powder marks always and I use a liquid, I have even tried different products and have done half loads but it makes no difference. This machine is always so loud, sounds like its unbalanced and needs oiling. My partner works shift work and I can't have it on when he is sleeping.

Simpson Electrolux have lost me – Machine died before it was 2 years old. Have been told it is quite a common fault and that repairing the machine is not an option.
