excellent heat consistency throughout the compartment and the controls are solid and easy to use.

I have found that it has the performance and aesthetics of a much more expensive oven.

But there are places where you'll see the cost cutting measures that were taken to deliver that performance and price. The main ones are in the oven compartment: It comes with only two oven racks, a standard rack and a grill tray on telescopic runners. You can buy additional racks and runners later, but they're reasonably expensive and most suppliers don't carry stock. The oven door seals well but the hinges feel cheaper than the rest of the door, and seem likely to need replacing in time.

The deficiencies of this unit are all minor and, at worst, will probably result in later repairs that still add up to less than the cost of an oven that might still have required the same services.

Service and oven temperature issue – Hi I have booked a service call for my cooker as it seems to be taking a long time to heat the oven up to the desired temperature. I have tested the oven and found out the following: FAN OFF it took from 11:00am to 11:29am to reach 260C and FAN ON from 12:08 to 12:58 to reach the temperature of 220c. static for two of those periods on 200c (checked temperature ever 10 minutes).

Smeg I want to know what is wrong with my oven? How long should it take to reach a desired temperature? With the FAN ON it took nearly 1 hour to reach a temperature of 220C. I need an answer urgently as I need to advise service so that when the repairer comes he has the right parts to repair my oven.

Service call - why does it take approximately 25 days to wait for a service call? This is way too long I'm afraid. I think that you need to provide a better service for your customers especially if you want us to buy SMEG products.

Having said all this I do love my SMEG cooker and I just want it fixed! it wasn't a cheap cooker!

If required I can provide proof of purchase.

Good customer service- I haven't use it but oven light broken but guy come fix it very quick – I built new house put Smeg freestanding oven and range hood. I used range hood everyday but oven haven't used and one day I open the cover the two oven light one is off ring bin Lee they said like fridge it not include in warrant. me call Smeg. I did and they said it includes in 2 years warrant and the guy come next week even before 8 am fix it in 2 min. It's hard for us as we don't know how to turn the light cover off and the little bulb hook connection but for him is so easy looks as he know what to do. So general I m happy. Their service is fast and reliable. I will try the oven see how is it. My old appartments Smeg oven is till work and at least it is over 10 years old. The scale is off but after a sticker from Smeg it s not an issue any more.

I read some reviews I do notice Smeg make different versions for Harvey Norman and Bing Lee . I prefer bin Lee as I found some function they made for Harvey Norman like the Tapanyaki tray don't have good reviews here.

Very suitable – This oven is very spacious and cooks well. It produces a very even result. The hotplates work well and the area around them is easy to clean . Door is nice and wide to access too. Show details

Pricey but worth it – Bought this as a replacement to my old smeg. Am very happy with it. Smeg are not cheap, but they do last a long time and retain their good looks. Nothing but issues with oven timer. Disappointed by SMEG – Had nothing but issues with the timer for the oven, the timer does not work (the oven will not turn on, yet it ticks). When the timer is in the manual position it sometimes works, however it sporadically turns off and you have to hold the knob to the left (rotated towards the manual position) to get it to work at all... been replaced once 12… Read more

Gas cooktop does work great however. Buying a smeg you expect a good unit, not the case!

Disappointingly uneven oven temps – Built a new house and went SMEG throughout the kitchen and starting to regret it. Great cooker but large burner wont stay on – Bought this cooker for quality ....it was bought 4yrs ago but was in storage for 14 months ....now we have to get a repair man out as warranty is out of date ....I am sure it is a minor repair .....but charges are pretty high ....yes we should have got an extended warranty ....but we thought Smeg would be a quality product .  Show details

SMEG oven – Our old oven broke down so we purchased a new SMEG from the Good Guys Robina. The oven is fantastic, self cleaning with gas top. Very easy to clean top and looks and cooks great. This was the only gas top stove our local store had – Moved into our new place months back and the local Harvey Norman store only had this Smeg as a gas top burner as the rest were all electric and we all know gas is cheaper than power in SA. Nice big cook top and oven – A stylish freestanding gas cook top and electric oven. Easy to use but as with most oven these days you have to learn the symbols. You pay a fair bit for the brand but the quality is there.

Cons:

- imprecise oven control: Fine for roasting but not great for baking, for the money I'd have preferred something where I could dial in the temperature more accurately but this is minor.

Wonderful Oven – The freestanding oven, gas mind you, is a perfect addition to my rear outdoor setting. The oven is amazing. Its gas, stater always works, the stove top burners are large and generous in size, handle l on in one time woo hoo. problem was very efficient, friendly and helpful with advice. This could have all been avoided if the original person I spoke to had a little more training in customer service. Kitchen Beauty! – My wife talked me into this. I am a more basic sort of guy but I am glad she did. Its really stylish and makes the kitchen look great. We have had zero issues with this. In fact its a joy to use after the sorry old one in our old house. The only issues were understanding how to set the the clock which is more a matter of us and perhaps the thickness of the sheet metal compared to the old days. wear the cost of a service technician and any work performed to fix it.

I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone after this experience, I have dealt with other white goods/appliance Manufacturers and never had this kind of poor service before. I would expect such an expensive oven to last more than 18 months!

this is perfect – i love this cooking stove because it is modern, has a wok burner in the middle and easy to use. the switches are user friendly and clear, indicating the big/small fire. the fire speed is good also and easily adjustable. the oven is electric and great for cooking/roasting/grilling/baking, all you need !  Show details

Massive oven that’s does the job – Great 90cm oven but does use a lot of energy and is incredibly hard to find extra trays for because of its width. Have found a hot spot in the middle but it’s only a bit hotter so doesn’t effect cooking substantially. Gas top is great with good coverage. Easy to clean.  Show details

Great oven – Fabulous oven, after 5 years the only problem was the clock which when I registered the problem they asked if I needed the entire oven replaced. Expected better – Has been repaired once already, I expected better results and really it's just as good as my old Westinghouse. I personally would not spend the money on SMEG appliances. Easy to use – Great oven, only critism oven trays are a bit flimsy.but apart from that it was easy to instal (bottle gas )the rapid gas jet is almost as fast as using a microwave, the twin fan oven is dream to use after having a fan less oven it certainly a huge step up .highly recommend  Show details

Shattered Oven Glas – I have been happy with my oven up until today. From cooking a roast in the oven the inside glass shattered! The oven will be 3 years old in December! Nice finish but fragile – Pros: easy to clean stainless steel, dials are good and finished well and the rack and dish supplied are well made as well Cons: The front plate glass is quite weak and shatters once by accident, but the warranty covered it and things were all sorted Overall: 8/10 but make sure to get the warranty.  Show details

warranty we had to pay for replacement of the second hinge. Now I notice how much quicker the oven heats and I don't have to have it set above 200 degrees C. Quite disappointed as I thought smeg was a better quality product, and this was why I purchased. You can't always rely on a 'quality' brand name.

Love my Smeg – We had a Smeg in our rental for 10 years and it was great. So when we bought our new house we looked seriously at other brands but again ended up buying a Smeg and I love it. It was actually delivered and had a big dent on the splash-back bar, Bing Lee were great, but Smeg's service was wonderful, no questions asked they couriered out a replacement piece and were lovely to deal with which is valuable in itself.

Sad Smeg – Our smeg of 10 years died, we loved it so replaced it with another smeg. Unfortunately we have had nothing but trouble with the stove element. Igniting but not staying alight. Having purchased from Harvey Norman canberra, we have had the stove services 3 times in two months. Harvey Norman told us to not use the element and use the other four instead!!!! Not very happy.
